I work on the road so popped in with a client for a coffee and hot chocolate during our meeting, lovely interior, great hot choc and staff were lovely.

User

I love this place staff are polite you can have a joke with them. We have had many good nights here as a family, food is great, they now are doing a rock and roll bingo on a sunday it really is great fun. Well done Pav and all your staff

User

Friendly, clean and welcoming cafe, with excellent traditional cafe food at fair prices and good service. I own my own similar cafe in Clay Cross in Chesterfield and always visit this one when down with my son in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Would definitely recommend! :-)

User

Came here with my wife and baby in the morning. The staff were very helpful and polite. The food and drink choice is great. Also compliments to the chef for delicious lunch. Will be coming again :-)

User

I liked the service here , it's a really good atmosphere never really had a problem with the staff , would recommend.

User

Decent breakfast at a good price and 2 drinks for a fiver ! Felt a little old though as it’s very much a student bar and I felt ancient at 39!

User

Service can be slow at times but no better place to watch sport

User

Didn't have a great experience in here today, went for Sunday lunch and had to wait almost an hour for food. When it arrived it was acceptable but not great. Veg too hard and the 'pies' were more like those round streamed puddings, not proper pies. OK here for a drink but go elsewhere for food if you haven't got all day!

User

Being a student pub it is not really my cup of tea but ale was available and a decent pint to, with efficient staff but really for the young ones. I certainly feel my age when I have a pint in this place

User

Nice setting and reasonable food but very slow service every time I have been for a meal.

User

I went back to re- live my student days. I certainly did that. No toilet paper at 5.30 on a Friday (had to ask twice). Had to chase nachos 3 times and when they arrived they weren't good. Tip - Just order burgers. The queue was five deep at the bar, the service was slow. Had a good time but next time I my re-live them elsewhere!

User

Arrived around 12 o’clock for lunch. Ordered food around ten past 12, hunters chicken sandwich and a chicken burger with 3 different types of chicken on and nachos.

Around 15 people in the pub so not very busy at all. At twenty to one I asked where the food was. At five to one our extremely Luke warm food arrived. The cheese on the nachos had rubberised and the sour cream, salsa and guacamole where just thrown over the nachos so not very good finger food unless I wanted to look like a 4 year old child eating spaghetti without a knife and fork.

My partners hunters chicken sandwich was on burnt bread and again just a lump of Luke warm chicken breast drowned in cold bbq sauce, my chicken burger was cold and the fries just cold and crispy. We ate what we could as we didn’t have breakfast and were very hungry.

I’d maybe return for drinks but don’t think I’ll be eating there again

User

terrible food rude staff just horrendouse food was cold portions were small and waited over an hour for it to arrive never go there again

User

Watched England and now watching Ireland beer, food and service great. Well done Staff on the Day

User

Horrendous service this afternoon. So disappointed. Waited for 1hr 45mins for a simple order of burgers/scampi etc. Order came out separately, incorrect and cold. Had to fight for a refund with the chef. Definitely won't be returning. Managers should be embarrassed.

User

Had to wait 50mins for sausage and mash and a steak sandwich, no explanation as why there was a delay, had to season the food ourselves as it was bland, staff were friendly but would of been nice if they kept us informed

User

Fire alarm went off and with no explanation staff have locked the doors and closed the pub. Communication costs nothing and I look forward to an explanation

User

Currently in the soak and have waited 50mins for a cold tuna salad. Other people have received hot food quicker than I have received my cold meal. Staff keep saying "5 minutes, 5 minutes". I could go into the kitchen and make my own tuna sandwich quicker than they have done.

User

Came for a drink and food to say goodbye to uni friends but ended up waiting 45 mins for food. When it came the burritos were cold, the side of chips didn't arrive, the burger was in toasted bread not a bun, was burnt and missing bacon and coleslaw. My salmon and avocado was missing avocado and the poached egg was hard boiled. Had to complain but the plates were taken out of our hands without any apology. We were offered a free drink which was plonked at the end of our table. The replacement food took another 20 mins for more sub-standard food with a still hard boiled poached egg. Don't understand how simple food could be so difficult! Saw other people with similar issues to us as well. Wouldn't recommend to anyone! Such a shame as I used to love the soak and their old menu :( don't want to return for even a drink anymore :(
