About Soho Road

The most popular Soho Road page to celebrate all things good, bad, amazing, crazy, about all that is Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham.

Soho Road Description

Handsworth is a distinct part of Birmingham, but it has only been within the city’s boundaries since 1911. Before then it was part of Staffordshire. Much of Handsworth parish remained rural into the 20th century, but by 1900 the area around the Soho Road had developed into a wealthy suburb of middle-class dwellings and terraced homes for members of the skilled working class. The Soho Road became Handsworth’s artery. Originally a turnpike route in the 18th century linking Birmingham with the Black Country, it became part of Thomas Telford’s London to Holyhead Road in the early19th century, bisecting what was still a predominantly rural parish. Large villas were built alongside the road, but as urbanisation developed in the late 19th century, the Soho Road became a major shopping street. The nature of the road changed as the local community developed. By the year 2000, it contained a library, police station, schools, a college, places of worship, advice centres, travel agents, fitness centres and restaurants as well as shops.

Bollywood are releasing 'Rambo' re-make!!!

The horrific footage of the accident where four lads had died instantly. Who can we blame here? The drivers for their stupidity, the Police for not using other resources that could prevent the car speeding?

Used to be the greatest high street in the world. Now, well...go yourself and make your own mind up. I love Handsworth. Breaks my heart to see beggars , junkies, so many fast food shops, litter on the streets. If only you knew Soho Road 25 years ago. The place is unrecognisable now.

Mainly muslims (who think it's Pakistan or Somalia !) who look at you weirdly, esp if u non-muslim & wearing a Poppy! So i just continue to wear my Poppy everytime I visit my friend there. The Sikhs are wonderful !

This guy has personal vendettas against people and will write personal attacks against individuals and shops in order to benefit himself, I believe he is a business owner as he really goes out his way to write complaints about Somosa restaurants in particular.

The account is run by a fraudulent person who's only aim is to try and destroy the reputations of great businesses. STRAIGHT AVOID.

Poor troll page. Don't follow. Angry admin who loses temper over anything and everything. Especially anything anti Tory. Don't waste your time here, unfortunately he's also pretty racist, calling posters that he disagrees with " uneducated Pakistanis" and "freshies". Reported to Facebook!
