BBC WM were live from the technical rehearsals for Motown the musical at the Alexandra Theatre yesterday, lovely to hear what they have been doing during the refurbishment of the theatre and also Josh getting interviewed with the other two boys who play young Michael Jackson on the tour. Josh is on from 1hr.20mins.

Love it when a very talented student from last year's Foundation Course sends you a text like this in the morning. It means a lot to us all.
Ella came to SOTE as a non dancer, worked very hard and is now training at Arden and gained a place in the advanced Ballet group.

SOTE BIRMINGHAM is now full for ages 10-18 years old.
What we are doing is adding enquiries to a waiting list which we will then look at, at half term with regards to places becoming available and us able to offer a FREE TASTER.
So please do still express interest in joining SOTE.
... Already this September we have created a new 5th group for ages 16 plus on Sundays (specialising in Drama School entry working alongside their BTEC, A levels) this group is now full.
However we do have limited places in our 8-9 year old group who train with us on Sundays from 11.00-4.00 each student each week receives a Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acting and Choral Singing Class. Please contact chris@sotebirmingham.co.uk or call 07739 904318.
We have a very busy year this year as a school we are supplying the children choir for the musical Joseph at The Birmingham Hippodrome for 2 weeks in July 2019.
We are supplying 6 dancers for the Broadway/West End production of Elf the Musical http://buddytheelf.co.uk/, and 15 Dancers for Peter Pan both Arena Tours at Christmas. All dancers are our 16 plus students from SOTE Brighton, SOTE Birmingham and SOTE Foundation.
We have also have been contacted this week to supply 8 students for an exciting television project in October.
Its a very exciting year with so many students auditioning for Drama Schools. Preparation classes have already began alongside our Foundation Course.

At SOTE we have so many students who are working towards gaining a place at top leading Performing Arts Colleges.
The Arts Educational Schools London is one of the leading Colleges in the UK.
We have a wonderful relationship with Arts Ed, each year their OUTREACH department come into our School and deliver workshops giving our students an insight to their training.
... Over the summer we had many students take part on their summer schools, some were offered scholarships to attend.
Well done Harry, Joseph, Issy and Callum who can be seen on the photographs at Arts Ed.
We have Stacy Cornes and Ben McSkimming who have just began their 2nd year at Arts on the Musical Theatre Course.
And well done to Olivia Hibbert who has just graduated and started rehearsals for Motown the Musical No. 1 UK Tour.
Each year thousands of hopefuls audition at Arts Ed with only 48 places for each year group on the MT course.
Over the next few weeks we will be sharing our connections with each leading college and also which students have successfully gained a place to train at them from SOTE.

Today my husband and our two children attended a Special Rare disease event at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Chris, Sue and Georgia dedicated their time in teaching some incredibly poorly (but amazing, inspirational and very much loved children) and their siblings The Avenue Q song in just over 1 hour. All the children were treated with compassion and care and for that short hour their illnesses became invisible and for once they were just carefree children enjoying the art of music and dance. My daughter is 8, and due to her disabled brother needing so much attention she often takes a step back. Well today she brought tears to our eyes and stood and delivered the first solo. I would like to thank Chris and the team, you honestly made a special day rememberable for all the right reasons. Bravo!!!!!

This wonderful school has been amazing for my 6 year old daughter. The teachers have nurtured her interest in singing, acting and dancing and given her bags of confidence and belief in herself and we have made some fabulous friends too. A huge thank you to Chris, Marcus and all of the team xxxxx

Sote has been fabulous for my son. Sote gave him the confidence and passion to follow his dreams after a bad start else where knocked all his confidence and now he is at one of the top musical theatre colleges in London doing a three year diploma in musical theatre.

The people that run Sote are passionate about what they do and it shows when you see what the young people they teach achieve.

So today I taught the seniors jazz and the energy was outstanding. I gave them many exercises from cardio, strengthening, corner work and then even a routine and they just got on with it and they didn't give up when it got hard! It was such a lovely lesson and the improvements of each individual over the course of an hour was remarkable. They are a credit to SOTE and it's standard! They are all hard workers who not only take corrections but apply them immediately. Thank you all for a superb class!

My son started here in september and absolutely loves it his confidence has doubled and everyone is so friendly and chris and the team are amazing with the children.

My daughter went for a taster session today. She absolutely loved every single minute of it. Came out with a huge smile on her face. Everyone was very relaxed and friendly. Just what you need on a Sunday morning.

My daughter is relatively new to SOTE but she absolutely loves it! The December showcase blew me away, all students were amazing, focused but above all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Blysse has learnt so much in such a short space of time and Chris is wonderful at keeping them all focused and building confidence. There are some very talented people here!

My daughter had been to a few stage schools before coming to SOTE. What I noticed straight away was how passionate and professional Chris and the team are. From the minute she arrived to the minute she left she loved every thing about it. They have amazing structure for the children to follow. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a theatre school.

Just had a funny experience, a friend asked me if Josh went to a drama school with a name I'd never heard of before (have lived in Birmingham almost 40 years but do have a bad memory - have already forgotten name she mentioned!) She said she thought it must be the one he went to, someone showed her the website and it claimed not only to be excellent but that it had raIsed the bar in Birmingham. Don't know what bar that is but certainly not the barre in constant use at SOTE! As far as I know it's the only school teaching triple skills at which ballet is compulsory, which has delighted me because I didn't think we could get Josh interested but now he loves it. Anyway Chris, imitation may be flattering but there's no fooling those who experience the real thing! Each week we seem to meet people travelling from further and further away to come to SOTE and it doesn't surprise me, I am more and more impressed by each video I see. Well done and thank you all so much xxx

I love going to SOTE, there are many opportunities that gives you lots of knowledge about being in the industry! It's great, it's the best place to be if you want to gain experience and learning to be a triple threat performer:)

I have known Chris since he was a student at Arts Educational School in London and even then he was very focused and told me that he would love to perform in his favourite musical Miss Saigon which he was able to do on leaving Arts Ed. He also told me that he was keen to become a theatre agent and to set up a stage school in his home town of Birmingham. Well both the agency and the School of Theatre Excellence (SOTE) both exist and I have been delighted to follow the progress of SOTE Birmingham and more recently SOTE Brighton.



SOTE has enabled the students to meet and train with current performers and also to perform publically themselves and now I am pleased to hear that some of the older students are currently auditioning for top West End drama colleges and getting good reports on their performances.



Chris many thanks to you and your team for giving the young people this great opportunity.

I have been attending SOTE for over 2 years and have always found the school professional, challenging and most of all enjoyable. The experience and knowledge I have obtained in singing, dancing and acting has been excellent. Chris's and Marcus's commitment and enthusiasm to the school and its pupils has been outstanding.

I had an audition for SOTE yesterday and I loved the environment of the school. A wonderful set up for what seems like unbeatable training!

Having auditioned for SOTE yesterday, I must say it was blown away by the standard of the current students, facilities and kind hearted and welcoming staff. I highly reccomend SOTE as it is clear they offer a demanding 1 year foundation course but evidently get the results for their students.

Grace has been attending sote Birmingham for all most a year now. She loves every minute of it. Tonight I watched her sing on her own in Evita at Hippodrome, I was extremely proud and emotional, hearing her little voice amongst a completely sold out show. Grace confidence has grown and she is becoming more and more determined to succeed as a west end actor. It is so nice to see at the age of ten years that she has a focus and passion in life. This experience is down to Marcus and Chris at sote, for giving up their weekends to nurture and grow these young children to reach dreams they may have not thought possible. Thank you from the bottoms of my heart for all you have done for Grace and I can’t wait to see what else she can achieve with your support xx

Fantastic, SOTE has given my daughter excellent training and experience in the triple skills, without it I'm sure she wouldn't have been accepted into the National Youth Theatre.
