Went for the picnic afternoon tea with friends today.... WOW! It was amazing, a real show stopper, better than we ever expected. Visually fantastic and equally delicious, would highly recommend and we will be back. Staff were wonderful and very polite/helpful looking forward to our next visit ....5*****

User

We were very pleasantly surprised.

A beautiful location, surrounded by lovely grounds.

The welcome we received on arrival was very nice, and all of the staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

The room was comfortably furnished with views over the gardens and grounds.

The evening meal was excellent, as was the breakfast.

We will definitely be going back there.

User

We held our wedding here last Saturday and had the most beautiful day.

From.the moment we chose Southcrest for our wedding venue, we kept in close contact with Michala the wedding coordinator and every email I sent with questions she responded very quickly (even when she wasn't actually in work sometimes)

Fantastic day, fantastic hotel, fantastic location , fantastic food and fantastic planning....

Would highly recommend this hotel to any one thinking of getting married here...

Can't wait to return next year for our first anniversary

User

We had our wedding at the Southcrest and the staff went above and beyond for our every need. The food was delicious, the rooms were very clean. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you so much.

User

Stayed last night for a complimentary anniversary meal, they even got us an anniversary card! The service was amazing and the food was beautiful. We stayed in the same room we had the night of our wedding which brought back lovely memories. Our wedding was also run flawlessly and any issues addressed immediately. Highly recommended such a lovely experience that we will treasure for ever.

User

Me and my wife got married here on the 26th August 2017. The venue itself is stunning and my expectations were definitely exceeded. Michaela and the other staff members were brilliant throughout the whole process and I can't thank them enough for helping to make our day so special. Our guests all enjoyed the day and we received many compliments about the venue and especially the food which was of a very high standard. Thank you again to all involved and we will be sure to visit again soon

User

Just wanted to say what a lovely Easter afternoon tea we had yesterday. Five of us went, 3 adults & 2 children. The kids were amazed at how much yummy food they got so were we!!! We left completely stuffed, with a few cakes to take home as unable to finish it all off. Highly recommend a visit, looking forward to going back for Sunday lunch

User

It is a lovely place, great food and beautiful grounds. There is nothing I dont like about the place. Have been several times and will keep going back.

User

I stayed in room 209, with a lovely view, room size was perfect, linen and bed perfectly clean . Had a massage , spa and hot tub . Lady's Amanda and Carol were so helpful and nice . Well done to chef who prepared delicious food and desert . Lovely young manager Jack was so friendly and helpful with everything. I would strongly recommend this hotel to all of my family and friends .

User

We had a fabulous relaxed stay this weekend. Good value for money, lovely quiet room and excellent food and service. We stayed in room 12 which was a quirky trip from reception but worth it for the peace and quiet. Although there was a private function in progress we didn't feel that it overwhelmed us. We quite enjoyed listening to the band!! The food was excellent and we indulged in every course offered!!! Definitely recommend the Luxury Gourmet Break.

User

We celebrate my son in laws birthday yesterday, which was lovely, the meals were great except I wasn't over pleased with my grandsons meal he had chicken nuggets with chips it was never worth 5.95 as it was quite dry and didn't look very appetizing he eat the chicken and left the chips, and also we were charged 1.10 for a cordial and water we were told we could have it free with he's meal , but then the waiter from the bar came to the table and charged us for it , which we were not happy with, but would I go again most definitely it's a lovely atmosphere and the afternoon teas looked lovely x

User

The room was very good, comfy bed and very clean. Towels were slightly musty bout only slightly. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was very very good for the price.

Overall the price was really cheap and I have stayed at a lot worse and paid a lot more. I would stop again In a heart beat and probably will in the coming weeks. Some very small details stop me giving 5 stars. However you could pay double this price in the area and get half what they provide.

User

Spent two nights at the hotel, standard room the first then the second evening upgraded to a executive room. Rooms clean & nice. Had booked evening meal and was seated in kingfisher suite not restaurant - waitresses on duty seemed like they were on another planet. Had to ask for cutlery to eat with during starter and dessert. Bread rolls arrived after main. Arrived for breakfast after the first nights stay, to be seated at a dirty table and then had to ask for table to be wiped as it was cleared but still left with previous customers debris. Waitress seemed to be over stretched which looked bad on her part. We had to ask for coffee and had finished food by the time coffee arrived. After breakfast went for coffee in bar area and the blow heaters were on full blast so felt like we were sat in a sauna. Went out for day to return back to hotel at 4.55pm to be told no afternoon tea was available as it was after 5 (as we walked away one receptionist said to the other “why did you say that”) we then decided to have an evening meal in Oscar’s restaurant and was welcomed and seated by a very polite young man called Nathaniel. He took our order and came straight away with our refreshments. We then ordered our starters & main and was given warm fresh tasty rolls before they arrived. All the food was delicious. Throughout the meal Nathaniel asked often if we required any more refreshments. We then finished our meal with delicious desserts and I must say the waiter on the second evening was very attentive and definitely made up for the previous evening! Our waiter Nathaniel is definitely a credit to your hotel! If it wasn’t for Nathaniel I would have only reviewed two stars due to the previous evening.

User

It's a lovely hotel. I have been to many weddings and Christmas work parties here and even though I've only eaten here once, the Christmas meal wasn't how I expected it. My vegetables were hidden under my meat and gravy, which was confusing because I was waiting for some vegetables to be passed down, needless to say everything tasted more than very nice, the meat was tender and the gravy I had was just about enough however disappointingly the sprouts looked like bullets, they could have possibly been overdone. Even so, I could see a lot of work was done in the presentations of all dishes. The starter. The meal. And the pudding. Whilst I was led to believe that I was getting Christmas pudding from the menu at work, (whether my crew were made aware of it or not) I got a shock when I was handed a cup and two biscuits because it was a Christmas pudding brulee. It was nice, it wasn't like it did not taste good, I just had to savour every bite. The staff were very quick and graceful whilst serving us, when they were about to grab a drink in between courses. The Southcrest Manor has always fascinated me with its dark wooden stair case, which gives it gracefully an elegant place to stay, should anyone wish to and anyone of a lover of old yet sophisticated buildings

User

Had a lovely relaxing stay on Friday with my friend for my annual staff party. The afternoon tea was lovely (we shared a savoury tea and a manor tea) and the hot tub session was lovely, especially as it was so cold outside. We were in a standard twin room (159), which was very quiet and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful and all in all, a good night's sleep was had by both.

User

Had a lovely birthday treat afternoon tea at the Southcrest really injoyed it a good selection of sandwiches and cakes with plenty of tea ir coffee, kids afternoon tea was also very good and reasonably priced.service was excellent.

User

Clean comfortable rooms, with ensuite facilities. Breakfast was adequate, although you may want to re-think on how the fried eggs are kept, as unfortunately on two occasions I had rubbery frisby like eggs. Evening meals were good value for money and enjoyable, however you may wish to re-think the Chocolate elements of the Cheesecake as this was a waxy "candy-melt" tasting product which let the overall dish down I also noted that the after dinner mints had in fact bloomed due to storage conditions (they were chilled so presume they were kept in the fridge?) Other than these "minor niggles". I would happily re-book and stay again!

User

Lovely place, the picnic table food was amazing but we arrived for 3pm and there was a switch over of staff.outgoing staff forgot to tell in coming staff we were there .. we were forgotten waited a long while... lovely waitress couldn’t apologise enough and we had discount off the bill...

Took our daughter for her 9th birthday for afternoon tea and it wasn’t the best .Dirty glasses and water jug, egg shell in my sandwich, didn’t offer different cakes for the 9 year old and got the bill wrong.
