St Luke'S Church, Holbrooks Description
There has been a Church presence in Holbrooks since the early decades of the twentieth century, when housing began to be built for people working in local industry. The Church of Saint Luke was constructed in 1939 and, like the people of its parish, suffered the effects of the Second World War and its aftermath.
Over the years our area has seen many changes, and Saint Luke's remains at the heart of its community as a reminder of God's presence in our world and of his love alive and active in our neighbourhood.

St Luke's Holiday Club meets again this Friday, 26th April from 09.30 to 11.30 in the Parish Centre.
Bishop Jonathan will celebrate the Easter Vigil at 20.00 today at St Luke's Church, Holbrooks. Low Mass will be celebrated on Easter Day at 08.00; the Parish Easter Day Mass will be celebrated at 10.00 followed by a children's Easter egg hunt. For further details see bit.ly/2VkETgN.
Friday of the Passion of the Lord (Good Friday) at St Luke's Church, Holbrooks.
At 19.00 this evening the parish bell will toll for seven minutes in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Paris. The bell will then ring again to call the faithful to the Mass of the Lord's Supper, which begins at 19.30, and during the singing of 'Gloria in excelsis'. It will then fall silent until the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening.
Holy Wednesday. Mass at 19.30 with the third address on 'the reign of darkness.' 'The Son of Man is going to his fate' (Mt 26.24).
Along with other churches across England, the bell at St Luke's will toll for seven minutes at 19.00 this Thursday, as a mark of solidarity following the devastating fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral. The Mass of the Lord's Supper will follow at 19.30.
