Telford Steam Railway is a heritage steam railway in Telford, Shropshire, UK. We are a small and dedicated group working towards the operation of trains from our northern terminus at Lawley to Buildwas in the Ironbridge George; providing a car free transport link from the M54 to the world heritage sites.
It is assumed that any photo's shared on our facebook page can be used for promotional material, if this is not the case please let us know.

MERLOT ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS – WINE TASTING & MOVIE
Telford Steam Railway comes alive next weekend as we invite guests to join us aboard for an exciting and innovative wine tasting featuring a number of delicious wines from along the route of the Orient Express between London and Istanbul.
After dabbling with the diferent wines on offer, we then move onto the main event, a screening of Branagh’s hugely enjoyable reboot of the Agatha Christie murder mystery which sees a cast t...hat includes Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi and Michelle Pfeiffer in the frame for the murder of an unscrupulous businessman.
Who knows? You might even meet Poirot himself…

Wow wow wow, the polar express train ride . Is a magical experience. Not just for young kids but adults, we have just walked back from our trip, 7:30 pm vixen , our conductor was fantastic he made our Night, the rest of the crew were all fab too, Santa was amazing. Myself my husband and our 13 year old (6ft-2 ) son , loved our experience. Thank you all so so much your are doing an amazing job.

We went on the Polar Express in 2017 and have just booked again for 2018. The whole family absolutely loved it from start to finish. The entertainment was fantastic on board and the real Santa was onboard � which my 7 & 5 year olds were enthralled by. Can’t wait for December again now � �

We turn up at 11 am and thought train depart at 1130 but it was 11 they hold train for us and mention on our friends birthday 83 they made is birthday they said he could ride on the brake carriage looking out thanks for making is day the whole experience was first class the cafe was brilliant LOADS of massive cakes at very low price people who ran it are the same first class thank you

You are absolutely amazing what you have done to make it such an out of this world event. You should all be proud of yourselves to make every single person who have had the honour experiencing the Polar Express believe in the true magic of Christmas. Visited the polar express last night and had a fabulous time, we have 3 small children ranging from 1-5y it was a surprise for them and have been asking to return since. Everything was fab especially the santa who my eldest was so impressed that he was the real one. Thankyou for a magical evening we will be defiantly back next year

Travelled on 9th December, when the snow was everywhere. It was truly magical, a huge well done to the chefs in our carriage, especially allowing my niece to turn the book pages. The atmosphere in the carriage was brilliant, everyone joined in to sing carols and shout for Santa. Fabulous help in getting off the train and a nice variety on the shop at the end. Quite like the naughty/nice doorway too! Well done.

Thank you so much for such a magical experience last night!

Our children were in their element seeing one of their favourite films bought to life, it was absolutely beyond my expectations and I would love to do it all over again. It was faultless and the staff really went above and beyond to make sure each family enjoyed their time on the Polar Express.

We were one of those unfortunate families who got caught up in the snow day but with a wonderful team you managed to keep us all happy and sort out a day/time that was convenient to us all.

I can't thank you enough for all your time and effort you have all been amazing. A meme our we will never forget.

A special mention to Mark Haynes who really helped us out during that horrible snow day too! Thank you xx

OMG � I’ve been on quite a few Christmas experiences just because I love Christmas and would like to try them all eventually lol. This was truly a wonderful Christmas experience from start to finish your staff I cannot believe are all just volunteers especially the ones on the train � they were such great actors. My daughter truly believed and her grandparents just embraced it and they can be hard to please they loved it to. I definitely think we be back next year with the rest of our family and friends keep up the good work xXx ����

My mum had just finished her treatment of radiotherapy and it was her Christmas gift to us all there was 21 of us and it was amazing she has disabilities and they helped her into the train it was magical for adults and children xxx

I have no words for how brilliant the Polar Express experience was. We went in the evening so it was even more magical and our kids absolutely loved it. Anyone who gives this less than a 5 is a moron � I have told everyone I know about how fab it was and would definitely do it all over again. Tickets sell out fast so keep your eyes peeled for next years! �

I have absolutely no worlds to how amazing this was , and how special you made it for my son and I . We tragically and suddenly lost our son in June , my older sons little brother . We informed the steam railway of this as he had a ticket . They made it unbelievably special for my son . Santa even knew his name . It was six months to the day that we lost him today , it was a extremely sad/emotional day but was made so special by everyone here . My friend and her 6 month old son also loved the whole experience !!! Thank you so so so much , I will never be able to thank you enough , for making a very difficult Christmas , truly magical ! I wish I could give you 100 stars and more !!!!!!

I don’t normally use the review system but thought it appropriate at this time. We missed out on tickets in 2016 after hearing great things about the Telford Polar Express and managed to buy some for xmas 2017 even though we had some wait time with the internet to get them. We had a magical time and my little 2 year old boy and even 15 year old daughter loved it. The volunteers who run the event are amazing from start to finish it was incredible. We decided at that point it was a must do for Xmas 2018 and have been waiting for the tickets to come out. We got an email on Saturday and spent a few hours trying to get tickets but system wasn’t able to cope. When I joined the queue on Wednesday 8pm I was 6551 queue position and had over 5000 in front of me. I read the notice saying if you were above 5000 in the queue you were unlikely to get tickets but I didn’t give up. I was up at 3am Thursday morning and brought my tickets without any issues. At that time whilst I think most of the standard weekend tickets were sold out there were plenty of premium tickets and plenty of standard tickets left for weekdays. When I was in the queue I thought it unlikely I was going to get tickets and decided a day off work to take our boy would be best chance of going. I know a lot of people are disappointed they can’t go of a weekend but unfortunately there are only so many carriages and rides available. There are also spots around 6-7pm of an evening so you can still take the children after school hours. It’s a magical event please let’s not ruin the chances of this event not being repeated next year because people are leaving negative comments about the system.

I am one of the mom's from the quarry bank school who's trip was cancelled due to the trip organiser not paying for our tickets, I was overwhelmed when you managed to accommodate us for an extra trip on the 8th of Dec only for the snow to fall and make it impossible for it to go ahead, for you then to rearrange again to make this trip possible the following week, I can not put into words what you've all done for us and what it means to every single parent and child who was let down so badly by gemma lappings trips, the whole experience from start to finish was truly magical, the atmosphere that you create at this event is better than any other Santa trip I've ever been on, I will definitely be booking again next year, only I will book direct myself just to be sure, I would recommend anyone with children to take them on this train ride, you'll make memories that will last a life time xx

What an absolute joke, joined mailing list to inform me when polar express tickets would go on sale, had nothing!!!. Checked the website every week since march to find tickets were still not up for sale, checked Tuesday to find site was having problems so still no tickets for sale, then to find tickets are sold out today I am disgusted at how Telford steam railway have handled this, we missed out last year to. Don't think ill bother again will spend my money else where. 2 very disappointed children :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( you need to get your act together but doesn't matter now does it you've got your money for all the tickets that were available so doesn't matter about those that missed out due to your incompetence !!!!!!!!!!

Really disappointed.Totally agree,I’d been in a queue for about 5 hours. Chose the tickets I wanted added them to basket, then added the book. Only at checkout to be told they didn’t have enough of the tickets I required. Absolute nightmare!! Now the only tickets left are midweek early slots. Now for members of school staff who then need to travel a couple of hours this is hopeless. The tickets I managed to get into my basket were Saturday. Now it looks impossible to even attend.

Polar Express. What an absolute disgrace !!!!!!!! If your going to sell the tickets for a popular event make sure you have the infrastructure in place to do so !!!!! Don’t know how you can sell tickets for a event when website can’t handle demand, and to say sorry out of our control does not wash it with anyone. All people should hold their heads in shame who involved with this. Many upset and disappointed families and children. To wait 5 hours last night to move up the queue only slightly to sitting in the queue for 4 hours this morning and to be kicked out when tickets in basket and told have to rejoin the queue is shameful.

I've now spent a total of 14 hours waiting to buy tickets to the polar express event over the last 2 days. I finally got on the website today. Put the tickets that they said were available in my basket 7 times for it to keep saying they were unavailable. Tried multiple dates for the same thing to keep happening until it kicked me off as I'd had my 45 minute slot. I am disgusted and infuriated! It was absolutely pointless signing up to be informed when the tickets would be released as you can't actually buy them!

I have no words for how brilliant the Polar Express experience was. We went in the evening so it was even more magical and our kids absolutely loved it. Anyone who gives this less than a 5 is a moron � I have told everyone I know about how fab it was and would definitely do it all over again. Tickets sell out fast so keep your eyes peeled for next years! �

I have absolutely no worlds to how amazing this was , and how special you made it for my son and I . We tragically and suddenly lost our son in June , my older sons little brother . We informed the steam railway of this as he had a ticket . They made it unbelievably special for my son . Santa even knew his name . It was six months to the day that we lost him today , it was a extremely sad/emotional day but was made so special by everyone here . My friend and her 6 month old son also loved the whole experience !!! Thank you so so so much , I will never be able to thank you enough , for making a very difficult Christmas , truly magical ! I wish I could give you 100 stars and more !!!!!!

I don’t normally use the review system but thought it appropriate at this time. We missed out on tickets in 2016 after hearing great things about the Telford Polar Express and managed to buy some for xmas 2017 even though we had some wait time with the internet to get them. We had a magical time and my little 2 year old boy and even 15 year old daughter loved it. The volunteers who run the event are amazing from start to finish it was incredible. We decided at that point it was a must do for Xmas 2018 and have been waiting for the tickets to come out. We got an email on Saturday and spent a few hours trying to get tickets but system wasn’t able to cope. When I joined the queue on Wednesday 8pm I was 6551 queue position and had over 5000 in front of me. I read the notice saying if you were above 5000 in the queue you were unlikely to get tickets but I didn’t give up. I was up at 3am Thursday morning and brought my tickets without any issues. At that time whilst I think most of the standard weekend tickets were sold out there were plenty of premium tickets and plenty of standard tickets left for weekdays. When I was in the queue I thought it unlikely I was going to get tickets and decided a day off work to take our boy would be best chance of going. I know a lot of people are disappointed they can’t go of a weekend but unfortunately there are only so many carriages and rides available. There are also spots around 6-7pm of an evening so you can still take the children after school hours. It’s a magical event please let’s not ruin the chances of this event not being repeated next year because people are leaving negative comments about the system.

I am one of the mom's from the quarry bank school who's trip was cancelled due to the trip organiser not paying for our tickets, I was overwhelmed when you managed to accommodate us for an extra trip on the 8th of Dec only for the snow to fall and make it impossible for it to go ahead, for you then to rearrange again to make this trip possible the following week, I can not put into words what you've all done for us and what it means to every single parent and child who was let down so badly by gemma lappings trips, the whole experience from start to finish was truly magical, the atmosphere that you create at this event is better than any other Santa trip I've ever been on, I will definitely be booking again next year, only I will book direct myself just to be sure, I would recommend anyone with children to take them on this train ride, you'll make memories that will last a life time xx

What an absolute joke, joined mailing list to inform me when polar express tickets would go on sale, had nothing!!!. Checked the website every week since march to find tickets were still not up for sale, checked Tuesday to find site was having problems so still no tickets for sale, then to find tickets are sold out today I am disgusted at how Telford steam railway have handled this, we missed out last year to. Don't think ill bother again will spend my money else where. 2 very disappointed children :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( you need to get your act together but doesn't matter now does it you've got your money for all the tickets that were available so doesn't matter about those that missed out due to your incompetence !!!!!!!!!!

Really disappointed.Totally agree,I’d been in a queue for about 5 hours. Chose the tickets I wanted added them to basket, then added the book. Only at checkout to be told they didn’t have enough of the tickets I required. Absolute nightmare!! Now the only tickets left are midweek early slots. Now for members of school staff who then need to travel a couple of hours this is hopeless. The tickets I managed to get into my basket were Saturday. Now it looks impossible to even attend.

Polar Express. What an absolute disgrace !!!!!!!! If your going to sell the tickets for a popular event make sure you have the infrastructure in place to do so !!!!! Don’t know how you can sell tickets for a event when website can’t handle demand, and to say sorry out of our control does not wash it with anyone. All people should hold their heads in shame who involved with this. Many upset and disappointed families and children. To wait 5 hours last night to move up the queue only slightly to sitting in the queue for 4 hours this morning and to be kicked out when tickets in basket and told have to rejoin the queue is shameful.

I've now spent a total of 14 hours waiting to buy tickets to the polar express event over the last 2 days. I finally got on the website today. Put the tickets that they said were available in my basket 7 times for it to keep saying they were unavailable. Tried multiple dates for the same thing to keep happening until it kicked me off as I'd had my 45 minute slot. I am disgusted and infuriated! It was absolutely pointless signing up to be informed when the tickets would be released as you can't actually buy them!
