As an independent family-owned company specialising in academic medical publishing, we are continuing to grow our academic range of titles in the areas of vascular medicine, vascular surgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopaedics and trauma, plastic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, urology and anaesthesia. New for 2014 will be the launch of an e-book program that will encompass a range of our existing as well as forthcoming titles.
Our established bestsellers like ‘Top Knife’, ‘Aphorisms and Quotations for the Surgeon’, ‘Key Questions in Cardiac Surgery’ and our anaesthesia /intensive care examination books continue to sell extremely well. The new series on the evidence-based management of various disorders, the first five of which were ‘Evidence-based Management of Lipid Disorders’, ‘Evidence-based Management of Hypertension’, ‘Evidence-based Management of Stroke’, ‘Evidence-based Management of Diabetes’ and ‘Evidence-based Management of Epilepsy’ have proved to be incredibly popular and have attracted worldwide attention. We shall be looking to expand this range in the near future. The recently published ‘50 Gastrointestinal Cases and Associated Imaging’ is proving to be a winning formula and so we may look to extend this same look and feel across a range of medical specialties. Also, we are particularly pleased to announce the forthcoming publications of ‘Key Questions in Thoracic Surgery’ and also ‘Key Questions in Congenital Cardiac Surgery’, both of which will complement the international bestseller ‘Key Questions in Cardiac Surgery’.
Finally, we are very proud to be publishing ‘Schein’s Common Sense Prevention and Management of Surgical Complications’. This title will inevitably find itself amongst the top ten surgical bestsellers of all time, alongside ‘Top Knife’, which has now sold more than 16, 000 copies in the English language and has also been translated into eight languages.
Our books continue to receive critical acclaim and win awards. We receive many outstanding reviews in leading impact factor journals for each specialty. Every year since 2005, we have been delighted when our books continue to win awards in the annual BMA Medical Book Competition. More recently, ‘Key Questions in Cardiac Surgery’, ‘Smart Surgeons; Sharp Decisions – Cognitive skills to avoid errors and achieve results’ and ‘Evidence-based Management of Stroke’ won a Highly Commended Award.
