Went for New Years Eve to the watch the Ronaldos and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff were brilliant, very busy but never waited more than a minute to be acknowledged and served. Would thoroughly recommend it and think we will be booking again for this year!

User

We went yesterday for tea with our young daughter. The food was all freshly made and tasted delicious. We ordered the tomato, veg pasta for our daughter from the children's menu, again this arrived and had lovely chunks of peppers and courgettes all my daughter's favourites. We had sides of sweet potato fries and garlic bread to share again all lovely. I would say the best fries I've had in a pub. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a trip, we will be back again.

User

Reserved a table tonight to celebrate my sons 13th birthday. The Abbey was really busy but got to say the staff were brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble for them even though they were rushed off their feet. Great friendly service and great food. We will see you again soon!

User

My partner, family and myself regularly go to the Abbey for food and we always leave feeling satisfied. We always say how far it has come and how much it has improved! Food is lovely, staff are friendly, if there is ever a problem they will sort it no questions ask. Always serve quick and atmosphere is great! We love it there and whenever we try and decide somewhere else to eat for a change we always end back at the Abbey .

User

Just been down for Sunday lunch, great meal. 2 x trio roasts plus free extra roasties, yorkie puds and gravy. all demolished and enjoyed. food and service was excellent, can't say anymore. We will be back

User

First visit for around 4 years and it didn’t disappoint. Friendly staff, busy but very efficient, nice atmosphere.

Food was well priced good size portions and very tasty. Will definitely be back soon 5*

User

User

Absolutely love this place

Went for Sunday lunch today and it was fantastic

User

good food and service ,only complaint was they had run out of biscuits for the cheese and biscuits !

User

Thank you all for a fantastic time last night for my retirement party ,it was a party of 15 and everyone commented on the standard of the food ,the manager and staff were very helpful despite it being a busy night for them

User

Love their superfood salad with chicken and bacon.

Could look at maybe having a small section for people trying to make healthier choices. Grilled rather than fired. Baked potatoes.

User

Had a very entertaining night there last night, didn't go for food, the place was packed and full of very happy people, beer was good but a bit pricey for an out of town pub, service was fast and efficient considering how busy they were. The band was an outright winner in my eyes but I am biased, they were my main reason for being there.

User

Waited quite a while to be served , food was good when it came , staff were pleasent !

User

Really quick service though the food &a bar staff don't seem to be on this planet except the boss lady. Perhaps a little more conversation/banter with customers wouldn't go amiss. Ok food, won't rival Gordon Ramsey that's for sure, maybe the chef needs a little more employee engagement so they can transfer the positivity to the food?

Great place & great location, would be talked about far & wide if pizzazzed up with some proper business management & free reign by an engaged chef that loved their job. As it is it's only average at present, sad as has mega potential.

User

Ordered 2 Rib Eye steaks medium rare....one came pretty much a medium and one well done (not impressed!).....when mentioned to the person serving us we were told there were no more steaks to replace the one well done. However, other people around us still appeared to be served steaks? No real apology or attempt to make reparation. Spoilt the meal for us overall.....Not sure how you can mess up 2 steaks that were ordered exactly the same and at the same time....could have done a better job on my George Foreman! Feel that the person serving could have done more to apologise/make reparation. Not particularly impressed!

User

Me and my partner decided to go out for a meal and I thought The Abbey Pub on Monkmoor Road will be a good idea as he never ate there and I haven't been there since I moved from there. We ordered two Sunday roasts - one with beef and another one with turkey and two cheesecakes for pudding and paid already for everything. When our meals arrived we felt very disappointed as: meat itself was ok however beef a little bit too chewy. Mash potatoes were dry as F looked like they've been made from powder. Tasteless. Roast potatoes were dry and burned so much reminded me of coal. Yorkshire pudding dry burned as well, big however empty inside. Parsnip was really disgusting, surely cooked before and warmed up before it's been served to us. Vegetables undercooked. It wasn't enjoyable meal at all. If that wouldn't be enough, the waiter came to us and said "I'm sorry you've ordered two cheesecakes and we only have one left" (just to remind- I already paid for all) so we've got to choose something else. The only one thing I'm glad for is that we didn't come with our mothers. That would be such a disappointment to them and embarrassing for us.

User

have been here the last 3 weekends for sunday lunch which was lovely.

booked afternoon tea for tonight at 4pm for 7 for my little girls 5th birthday who loves afternoon tea

DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

everything was dry as a bone and had clearly been made up for hours left in a fridge. the cakes wernt even cakes they were puddings of the normal menu not even homemade. the scones were still in bags so we're shop brought dry and hard. ( would knock someone out).

i'm so upset as we love coming here for sunday lunch but will take my service elswere as the man behind the bad was so rude and nearly scolded myself when he took a teapot away as we asked for 1 to many you could see he wasn't happy !!!

SO DONT GO HERE FOR AFTERNOON TEA. WAS VILE!!!!

User

Went this evening for after work food! Food was very disappointing. New potatoes were almost raw, peas and tomatoes were undercooked. Sent meal back but came back no different. Ate very little informing waiter I wasn’t happy with food . No offer of refund or meal on the house . Not very satisfactory. Left feeling hungry!

User

I asked for salad cream with my meal and the girl laughed at me and come back and said no we have brown sauce. How salad cream and brown sauce is anything alike I do not know. My friend then took her food to the bar as her beef was almost rare, and was told there was nothing wrong with it and if she wanted another meal she would have to pay. She carried on eating her food that was edible as she had to pay for it to then find a hair in it.
