The Folkestone Leas Lift is not only a working water balance lift, but it is also open as a living museum to provide educational facilities for school children, students or anyone else having an interest in Victorian engineering.

The lift is a remarkable piece of engineering that has carried more than 50 million people since it opened, in a process that is extremely energy effect, emits no pollution, recycles 100% of the water it uses to drive the cars and has a very small carbon footprint.

The company is only the fourth organisation to manage the lift in a history that spans two world wars and a recent decline in the town's fortunes!
