Don’t forget to book your place ....one week to go

It was great to meet so many new supporters at today's friendly volunteers' morning. We had so many important jobs done including carpentry, plumbing, marketing, cleaning the bee nesters and repairing the willow arches to name a few. There's a job here to suit everyone. If you think you'd like to try your hand at something a bit different, in beautiful surroundings, with friendly chatter and help a worthwhile cause too, then give us a call on 01902 558132 to book on to our next volunteers' morning on Thursday 7th February 2019.

I've had a few requests to run Home Educator days again. Please can you let me know by messenger if you would be interested in a day on Friday 1st February from 10am - 2pm. The cost would be £8.00 per child. Inorder to make the day viable we would need 20 participants. Thank you - Rachel

I have a feeling the moles at Kingswood Trust had a great party over Christmas and New Year. There certainly a lot of them! Thank you to our volunteers this week for helping to flatten the hills and turning it back into an area for children. Some of our volunteers were able to prepare much needed education resources for this year. We were so pleased our bird feeders were cleaned too in readiness for our Big Garden Bird Watch on 26th January. A big thank you all round.

Apologies- this Sundays "Table Top Sale" has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We have just been coppicing to encourage new growth of our trees which will provide more usable materials for our activities such as den building, toasting sticks for children to learn how to cook outdoors and for creating woodland decorations. Thank you to Hannah Preece from ReAssure who joined us today for a day of corporate volunteering to help us with this task.

A big thank you to everyone who attended our last Nature Hunters session of 2018, making the Kingswood Trust feel that little bit more Christmassy with all your wonderful Rudolph paintings, Santa split-pin jigsaws, and for helping me find every Christmas character along our Hoot trail (we even had a Christmassy egg decorated, a muddy Angel, and squeezed in some time in our play hall)!
It's been another fun-filled session; thank you to everyone that came along and I'm wishing... you all a magical Christmas and a very happy New Year!
Kim 😊

A Makeover at the Kingswood Trust Kingswood Trust has benefited today from EEs Employee Volunteer Scheme. We have been so lucky to have four pairs of willing hands to give our charity some much needed support. Jo, Daniel, Hardip and Nader, all EE employees chose to help with some indoor maintenance, giving our walls, skirting and radiators a spruce up. EE have a great corporate policy that enables employees to take up to 16 hours paid leave to work for a charity or good cause... of their choice. Jo Dunning from EE said, “It’s great to be able to support Kingswood Trust and know that we are really making a difference. By helping to spruce up the place, we know that school children and visitors alike will enjoy being in a refreshed indoor environment for their learning and social time when they come to this fantastic environmental site. I really appreciate that EE have corporate volunteering programme which can give a hand to so many organisations who would otherwise struggle to achieve maintenance and decorating needs.” They have all travelled a distance to be here from Manchester to the South Coast of England. Hardip was put in touch with Pete Emms at the Wolverhampton Voluntary Service who had all the information to hand about the opportunities at Kingswood Trust and helped make today happen. There is something at Kingswood Trust for everyone, so volunteers can choose opportunities that interest them, or can utilise their own skills. This includes: Creating and maintaining natural habits Gardening, planting and harvesting vegetables Offering professional skills in a more office-based environment Providing support with technical and ICT skills Promoting and organising events Carrying out research and environmental / wild life surveys Helping with administrative tasks Supporting site maintenance Caring for our animals Thank you to everyone today for all your enthusiasm and hard work. This has a real impact on improving the quality of our site for children and the wider community. Rachel Wells – Charity Manager

We like to deliver Workshops with A difference so holding our 90 Day Planning event at Kingswood Trust ticked all the boxes...

Great location, friendly efficient team and we got to see the sheep and chickens too as well as an original air raid shelter...

Loved it and so did our clients..

Highly recommended.

Superb, a totally fabulous experience for my children!

Super place and great place. They hold some fab events. The best thing is that you get to do outdoor stuff, like pond dipping, exploring and tree climbing with your kids :)

My son loves it here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere makes him feel comfortable and safe.

User

My son came here with his nursery and all he kept saying was that it was great and couldn't wait to go back, he loved everything and really liked the leader of the group he was with, will definitely be visiting again with him as a family this time tho

User

If my children had their way they would live at Kingswood. A fabulous place to explore the outdoors and learn new things in a safe environment. The family sessions are always very well run with lots of enthusiastic volunteers. The Pumpkin Parade is one of the highlights of the year for us.

I was looking for a venue to hold an event with a few friends at the end of the year. We needed somewhere central in the UK as we had people coming from London, the Southwest and the Northwest. I had been to Kingswood in past years for some charity events and found that the orb was available for private hire. It was ideal for our needs. Sleeping accommodation for the 15 of us, space for all of us to eat and lounge plus some nice additions like the log burner and toys for the young kiddies! And much to my amazement all at an incredibly reasonable price. We ended up booking the orb for a Friday-Sunday. Rachel the manager met us on arrival with the keys and showed us around. Over the weekend when it stopped raining for 5 minutes we explored the grounds looking at the sheep and playing on the obstacle course. With the sleeping accommodation being integral to the building we were able to put the kiddies to bed in the evening and continue to enjoy our time, adults only, for a few hours! I will certainly look to use the venue again for group events. I think we would really struggle to beat it! On a side note I think what the staff at Kingswood do and the service they provide with the backdrop of such a lovely facility is invaluable to the community. The accommodation is rented out like this to help fund the day to day running of the centre which is entirely self funded now. So a worthwhile cause as well as a great venue. Thanks very much.

Had a great day volunteering in the fresh air and sunshine today. Cleaned the wormeries, tidied the hedge brash, picked rhubarb and surveyed the trees in the orchard. All very satisfying and rewarding work knowing that we all made a difference to improving the Kingswood Trust grounds.

As a Childminder I attend a forest school every other week here.

Which is run by Stephanie, she has designed it to cater for preschool aged children, every time we go there is a different theme that both excite and challenges young minds to encourage their love for the great outdoors, it’s great fun whatever the weather..

I would recommend you give it a go if one of there many different sessions grabs your attention! I don’t think you or your children will be disappointed...

An excellent outdoor education centre with wonderful facilities, amazing staff and a fantastic range of activities, both for schools and for families. Other authorities could learn so much from Kingswood. Learn about the environment and protect the planet!
