We will be open :-
Monday to Thursday from 5pm... Friday from 3pm Saturday and Sunday from 12pm
Food will be served Monday to Friday from 5pm until 9pm, Saturday 12pm until 9pm and Sunday 12pm until 6pm.
Our Winter Menu will commence from Monday 1st October and our Sunday roasts return from Sunday 7th October.

Due to a staff shortage the Half Moon Kitchen will be CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays from week commencing Monday 30th July until further notice. The kitchen will be open from Wednesday through to Sunday as normal.

Due to the large riverside frontage we have, during peak times there will be delays on food orders being taken.

Lovely setting for a sunny afternoon eating and drinking. The food was beautiful, staff were lovely and although they were busy we didn't have to wait long for our food. Would definitely recommend it.

Great food great service and great to take the pup out too. Thanks to the servers for coming out to the riverside and serving our food. Great food takes time to prepare so it’s not a super fast service but who wants to rush, enjoy the surroundings and take it easy.

Went for a meal yesterday for my Dads Birthday who had never eaten there before. We loved it. Paella was beautiful & Dad had the Duck which was also lovely. Service was good. Pretty busy considering only a Tuesday lunch which shows how popular it is. You need a card for a tab to eat outside but staff explained it all to us. Very much recommended

Was going to order food but only had cash on us so couldn’t order because you have to put a card down for a tab to eat? So I asked for a menu as was going to drive home and get a card if we fancied the stuff on the menu and was told NO we bring menus out when you’ve set up a tab. Stupid really went down the road instead!!

Decided to go for lunch yesterday but service was so slow. Took an hour from ordering drinks at the bar to having our order taken and food arriving. Need to be better service to get my custom again.

Booked table yesterday for four people arrived to find people queuing to the door with no clear indication what to do? Went to bar to say we’d booked a table to be told abruptly someone would come to us. Tbf pleasant enough lady came to us and asked in what name was the table was booked and promptly show us to a table. She took our drinks order and I asked her for ice in my drink she left the menu and went for our drinks. Our drinks arrived and we were told there was NO ICE!!! Slightly annoying but no biggie. We ordered our meals.Our starters came with not to much of a wait considering they were fairly busy which we couldn’t get away from as one of the bar staff kept shouting for people to use the bar outside? We then asked the same waitress for some more drinks to be told she was serving another tables meals and she’d come back!!! She didn’t come back and we had to wait for some time when she showed people to the table next to us. Once again we asked her and she said the same she looked very flustered so two of our party went to the bar to get our own!!! Meanwhile our mains came and I said the two had gone to the bar to get some drinks she gave no apology and just ignored me? The food was delicious tbh and may well go back one day but just felt let down with the service!!!! Perhaps more staff need on busy bank holiday!!!!🤔

nowhere near the amount of staff needed for the size of the place resulting in unacceptable waiting time for food. everyone being told it was table service but you had to open a tab at the bar and then you could not order at the bar!!! what a stupid system..... I fully understand the tab and giving card but then not being able to order while you are at the bar is bonkers, surely this is helping the staffing situation!!! food was excellent when it finally arrived.

Went today with family that were down from Manchester as I really love this pub and the atmosphere. Really disappointed today. We were sat outside but it started to rain so we went inside and sat at a table. We had just brought drinks and were about to order food and a waitress came over to say the table we were sat at was reserved and we had to move. There was no reserved sign on the table hence why we sat there. So we had to move all our things with a small child with no help to be sat in a room where there was a birthday meal going on with a large group. This was very loud and put us off ordering food so we left.

We booked an afternoon tea for a work end of term party, we were all excited and looking forward to it but we were sadly disappointed. We all paid £15 to have a few sandwiches, some sausage rolls and one other savoury roll, the sandwiches were not that good and not enough for 10 people, there was some scones which looked like they were the cheapest you can buy and just 2 sml pots of cream and jam defiantly not enough to go round, we asked for more but didn’t get any ! The cake was just plain cake with either a icing and a cherry on top or almond flavour, nothing exciting like you would expect to get on an afternoon tea, also we should of had strawberry’s dipped in chocolate but when we asked where they were we got told that they had t got any, we got offered more of the same cake instead which we didn’t want � we also had to ask for the tea and coffee which should of accompanied the afternoon tea. When we complained staff were a little rude and seemed quite annoyed that we said something ! Definitely not worth the money, we could of gone out for a meal for the same amount of money x

We all left a little disappointed, we shall not be going there for afternoon tea again ��

Me & my partner visited, we were told inside was fully booked but we could sit outside which was fine. We ordered drinks and were given menus; found a table outside and a waitress brought us a tub of cutlery. Thirty minutes later and no one had come to take our order, but orders were being taken from other outside tables. Wind caught one of the menus and smashed my half-full glass to pieces, informed someone behind the bar and they cleared it up but no replacement was offered (which wasn’t the point of me informing her, but still), just given an excuse that they’re cheap glasses from ikea. Another ten minutes and no food order taken so we paid for drinks and left. We won’t be rushing back �

I usually enjoy going here....love the setting especially on a glorious day as it was. However on this occasion left quite disappointed. Whoever heard of waiting for over 45 minutes just to place an order for food??? Even when we arrived I heard people complaining they had been waiting for over an hour just to order food!!! Not a great service after that....the waitress was really condescending. It seems the Half Moon has a problem with its staff attitude and service process. I have read a few comments on here which suggest the same. Appreciate there are boards all over the place which tell you how the ordering system works but that doesn't mean its a good system!!!!!

Had a party of 8 for lunch. Glasses were dirty did swap them to more dirty one! Staff seemed not very welcoming. Place Mat was dirty on arrival. Curry was bland/flavourless. Peas were over cooked. Pork and leek sausages appeared to have no leek. Table half cleared after starter then came back later realising not fully cleared. No one asked at either course how good was. Disappointed and won’t rush back.

Went for a birthday meal today with my family, it was my brother's b day ,and the food was cold ,steak had to b returned twice and still not cooked properly , bread was stale ,cheesy chips were grilled till crispy on plate ,just endless mastakes!! They did fix the bill but b day meal was spoiled we did not all eat together and birthday boy had to get fish &chips on way home �������

Visited the half moon today, we’ve been plenty of times before and have loved it... sadly not on this occasion and we will NOT be returning...

The pub was busy when we arrived so we decided to sit by the river with our dog and order some food. We were told we couldn’t sit by the river if we wanted to eat as they were short staffed and would be unable to serve us. As the pub is ‘dog friendly’ we explained that as we have a large dog we had tried to sit out of the way as not to cause a problem for any other diners and as the patio area and bar were now very full there was no space for us.

We were told ‘sorry but if you want food you’ll have to move or leave’

So yes we left... only as we were leaving watched people sat BY THE RIVER be handed menus...?!?! Very disappointing

Not a good meal. Black pudding not cooked on the mixed grill all the meats were cheap. Wife’s meat was very chewy. And well over priced. Told the waitress who didt even say sorry. Would not recommend for food. And it was a lot of money.

I have to say that I usually would rate the Half Moon with 5 stars. However, today I was extremely disappointed. We walked down for lunch and was told that as we were sitting outside we would need to provide card details and set up a tab. We only had cash on us and asked if we could pay cash on order as we had no card. The answer was no.....I know there are procedures that staff have to abide by but we regularly go there and have never been asked to do this before. I cannot see the problem with placing an order and paying before you receive the food. It seems mad that you lost customers for the sake of procedure. We were told that we could pay cash if we ate inside but frankly who would eat inside on a glorious day like today! ďż˝

Has to be the worst lunch we’ve had in a long time. Overpriced, bland, steak sandwich was mostly fat so my son left hungry. Very poor service. (Didn’t mind waiting an hour, even though they were far from even half full, we weren’t in a hurry). Only leaving this review as when I told staff it wasn’t good, instead of showing concern or trying to address the issues, they just didn’t respond... didn’t even ask what was wrong. So I’m guessing they’re not bothered. I heard the table next to us saying the same before they left, should of cancelled my order then. Oh well, lesson learned but £38 for 3 inedible sandwiches and soft drinks stings a bit!

Thirty minutes later and no one had come to take our order, but orders were being taken from other outside tables. Wind caught one of the menus and smashed my half-full glass to pieces, informed someone behind the bar and they cleared it up but no replacement was offered (which wasn’t the point of me informing her, but still), just given an excuse that they’re cheap glasses from ikea. Another ten minutes and no food order taken so we paid for drinks and left. We won’t be rushing back �

I usually enjoy going here....love the setting especially on a glorious day as it was. However on this occasion left quite disappointed. Whoever heard of waiting for over 45 minutes just to place an order for food??? Even when we arrived I heard people complaining they had been waiting for over an hour just to order food!!! Not a great service after that....the waitress was really condescending. It seems the Half Moon has a problem with its staff attitude and service process. I have read a few comments on here which suggest the same. Appreciate there are boards all over the place which tell you how the ordering system works but that doesn't mean its a good system!!!!!

Went for a birthday meal today with my family, it was my brother's b day ,and the food was cold ,steak had to b returned twice and still not cooked properly , bread was stale ,cheesy chips were grilled till crispy on plate ,just endless mastakes!! They did fix the bill but b day meal was spoiled we did not all eat together and birthday boy had to get fish &chips on way home �������

The pub was busy when we arrived so we decided to sit by the river with our dog and order some food. We were told we couldn’t sit by the river if we wanted to eat as they were short staffed and would be unable to serve us. As the pub is ‘dog friendly’ we explained that as we have a large dog we had tried to sit out of the way as not to cause a problem for any other diners and as the patio area and bar were now very full there was no space for us.

We were told ‘sorry but if you want food you’ll have to move or leave’

So yes we left... only as we were leaving watched people sat BY THE RIVER be handed menus...?!?! Very disappointing

Not a good meal. Black pudding not cooked on the mixed grill all the meats were cheap. Wife’s meat was very chewy. And well over priced. Told the waitress who didt even say sorry. Would not recommend for food. And it was a lot of money.

We walked down for lunch and was told that as we were sitting outside we would need to provide card details and set up a tab. We only had cash on us and asked if we could pay cash on order as we had no card. The answer was no.....I know there are procedures that staff have to abide by but we regularly go there and have never been asked to do this before. I cannot see the problem with placing an order and paying before you receive the food. It seems mad that you lost customers for the sake of procedure. We were told that we could pay cash if we ate inside but frankly who would eat inside on a glorious day like today! ďż˝

(Didn’t mind waiting an hour, even though they were far from even half full, we weren’t in a hurry). Only leaving this review as when I told staff it wasn’t good, instead of showing concern or trying to address the issues, they just didn’t respond... didn’t even ask what was wrong. So I’m guessing they’re not bothered. I heard the table next to us saying the same before they left, should of cancelled my order then. Oh well, lesson learned but £38 for 3 inedible sandwiches and soft drinks stings a bit!

Great food great service and great to take the pup out too. Thanks to the servers for coming out to the riverside and serving our food. Great food takes time to prepare so it’s not a super fast service but who wants to rush, enjoy the surroundings and take it easy.

Booked table yesterday for four people arrived to find people queuing to the door with no clear indication what to do? Went to bar to say we’d booked a table to be told abruptly someone would come to us. Tbf pleasant enough lady came to us and asked in what name was the table was booked and promptly show us to a table. She took our drinks order and I asked her for ice in my drink she left the menu and went for our drinks. Our drinks arrived and we were told there was NO ICE!!! Slightly annoying but no biggie. We ordered our meals.Our starters came with not to much of a wait considering they were fairly busy which we couldn’t get away from as one of the bar staff kept shouting for people to use the bar outside? We then asked the same waitress for some more drinks to be told she was serving another tables meals and she’d come back!!! She didn’t come back and we had to wait for some time when she showed people to the table next to us. Once again we asked her and she said the same she looked very flustered so two of our party went to the bar to get our own!!! Meanwhile our mains came and I said the two had gone to the bar to get some drinks she gave no apology and just ignored me? The food was delicious tbh and may well go back one day but just felt let down with the service!!!! Perhaps more staff need on busy bank holiday!!!!🤔

nowhere near the amount of staff needed for the size of the place resulting in unacceptable waiting time for food. everyone being told it was table service but you had to open a tab at the bar and then you could not order at the bar!!! what a stupid system..... I fully understand the tab and giving card but then not being able to order while you are at the bar is bonkers, surely this is helping the staffing situation!!! food was excellent when it finally arrived.

We were sat outside but it started to rain so we went inside and sat at a table. We had just brought drinks and were about to order food and a waitress came over to say the table we were sat at was reserved and we had to move. There was no reserved sign on the table hence why we sat there. So we had to move all our things with a small child with no help to be sat in a room where there was a birthday meal going on with a large group. This was very loud and put us off ordering food so we left.

We all paid £15 to have a few sandwiches, some sausage rolls and one other savoury roll, the sandwiches were not that good and not enough for 10 people, there was some scones which looked like they were the cheapest you can buy and just 2 sml pots of cream and jam defiantly not enough to go round, we asked for more but didn’t get any ! The cake was just plain cake with either a icing and a cherry on top or almond flavour, nothing exciting like you would expect to get on an afternoon tea, also we should of had strawberry’s dipped in chocolate but when we asked where they were we got told that they had t got any, we got offered more of the same cake instead which we didn’t want � we also had to ask for the tea and coffee which should of accompanied the afternoon tea. When we complained staff were a little rude and seemed quite annoyed that we said something ! Definitely not worth the money, we could of gone out for a meal for the same amount of money x

We all left a little disappointed, we shall not be going there for afternoon tea again ��

Had a party of 8 for lunch. Glasses were dirty did swap them to more dirty one! Staff seemed not very welcoming. Place Mat was dirty on arrival. Curry was bland/flavourless. Peas were over cooked. Pork and leek sausages appeared to have no leek. Table half cleared after starter then came back later realising not fully cleared. No one asked at either course how good was. Disappointed and won’t rush back.

Went for a birthday meal today with my family, it was my brother's b day ,and the food was cold ,steak had to b returned twice and still not cooked properly , bread was stale ,cheesy chips were grilled till crispy on plate ,just endless mastakes!! They did fix the bill but b day meal was spoiled we did not all eat together and birthday boy had to get fish &chips on way home �������

Visited the half moon today, we’ve been plenty of times before and have loved it... sadly not on this occasion and we will NOT be returning...

The pub was busy when we arrived so we decided to sit by the river with our dog and order some food. We were told we couldn’t sit by the river if we wanted to eat as they were short staffed and would be unable to serve us. As the pub is ‘dog friendly’ we explained that as we have a large dog we had tried to sit out of the way as not to cause a problem for any other diners and as the patio area and bar were now very full there was no space for us.

We were told ‘sorry but if you want food you’ll have to move or leave’

So yes we left... only as we were leaving watched people sat BY THE RIVER be handed menus...?!?! Very disappointing

Not a good meal. Black pudding not cooked on the mixed grill all the meats were cheap. Wife’s meat was very chewy. And well over priced. Told the waitress who didt even say sorry. Would not recommend for food. And it was a lot of money.

I have to say that I usually would rate the Half Moon with 5 stars. However, today I was extremely disappointed. We walked down for lunch and was told that as we were sitting outside we would need to provide card details and set up a tab. We only had cash on us and asked if we could pay cash on order as we had no card. The answer was no.....I know there are procedures that staff have to abide by but we regularly go there and have never been asked to do this before. I cannot see the problem with placing an order and paying before you receive the food. It seems mad that you lost customers for the sake of procedure. We were told that we could pay cash if we ate inside but frankly who would eat inside on a glorious day like today! ďż˝

Has to be the worst lunch we’ve had in a long time. Overpriced, bland, steak sandwich was mostly fat so my son left hungry. Very poor service. (Didn’t mind waiting an hour, even though they were far from even half full, we weren’t in a hurry). Only leaving this review as when I told staff it wasn’t good, instead of showing concern or trying to address the issues, they just didn’t respond... didn’t even ask what was wrong. So I’m guessing they’re not bothered. I heard the table next to us saying the same before they left, should of cancelled my order then. Oh well, lesson learned but £38 for 3 inedible sandwiches and soft drinks stings a bit!
