You know the drill... every week we meet someone who helps make our club the fab place it is today! Be it a staff member, DJ, musician or just a down right groovy person!
Meet Oliver Doll Overton, who you may recognise from The Mothers Earth Experiment!
We asked him a few questions...
... Where are you from? "A little planet named Earth..."
When did you first go to The Night Owl?
"It was about 3 years ago when they where the new guys in Digbeth. What event it was I honestly can’t remember, that can only be a good thing I suppose!"
What is your favourite event at the night owl?
"I'd have to say Swampmeat Family Band's album launch has been my highlight of this year! The room was electric. Especially when Connor Hemming found himself on top of the DJ booth ripping a guitar solo."
What night would you usually go to The Night Owl?
"You would normally find me at Connor Doyle's Kaleidoscope events. I think its amazing that a venue is putting so much effort into promoting local artists and live musicians, especially with that psychedelic twist!"
What’s your favourite song to dance to at The Night Owl?
"When Ben Drummond spins Merry Claton's “Gimme Shelter” - its just got all the feel and bounce your'e gonna need."
What do you like most about The Night Owl?
"We held the band's first album launch there and it was a pretty big deal for us back then. The guys at The Night Owl bent over backwards to fit all six of us in with the rig! It was all worth it in the end with help from Maz we pulled off a sell out show. It's a very fond memory for me and all the mothers."
Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
"I don’t trust Dolphins!"
Wise words Olly! You can catch The Mother's Earth Experiment at Kaleidoscope & Planet Art Project present Bank Holiday All-Dayer on August 26th!

Went to this little gem yesterday for battle of the bands and what a totally awesome day.

Loved every minute of it and I've found my utopia

User

We were in Brum for the weekend up from London, started in some metal bar, a friend told us about The Night Owl, we took a chance and arrived about 1am...best decision ever- Brilliant venue, brilliant staff, Great drink prices, Brilliant DJ's, and everyone in the club was having a good time. I even got on the dance floor for the first time in years. Fantastic atmosphere! Next time I'm up in Brum I'll be here again!

User

We arrived Saturday night party of 12 didn’t no what to expect as nothing was planned we had been next door at the DDC what a fantastic night music was fab not to over crowded loved the outside area for cooling down after dancing all night staff were friendly music didn’t disappoint who would of thought this place was tucked away in a bk street in Digbeth will be comming bk for sure 👌

User

This was my third time at the night owl on a Saturday night ...I looked round at one point and it seemed every one was smiling ....I really enjoyed my night I danced a lot !!! It's a great atmosphere ,a good vibe and will be going again in the future ...I recommend this to all ...young and the more mature like myself (47)

User

This was first Visit to the venue and it definitely won't be the last.

Fab night, great relaxed, happy atmosphere and great music. Well worth a visit

User

The Northern/Modern/Crossover purists would possibly consider the eclectic music policy to be bordering on heretic, but that suits me just fine. Decided to pay a visit as part of a lads' weekend away, having seen that an old soul scene acquaintance from up here in the North East has visited previously and enjoyed. Any club with a playlist ranging from Bowie's "Fashion" to Al Wilson's "The Snake" (possibly even back to back..) has got to be worth a visit. Obviously off the mainstream city centre circuit and all the better for it. The regulars and staff are doing something exhilarating here - creating a new dynamic by reimagining a past the majority of them will have no living recall of. That's laudable and I believe that in years hence you will all look back and be immensely proud of what you have achieved here. Recommended without hesitation for open minded music lovers.

User

Really dig this place, always a great atmosphere whether it's club nights, live music , family friendly days, etc.

Marvellous dance floor, great outdoor area, friendly security and wonderful bar staff.

In my eyes it's brums best alternative club.....fact!

User

I went to the opening 3 years ago and been going ever since. I love this place. Age appropriate people and staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic looking forward to my next visit for my bday on 13/7

User

I love this place, the music, the vibe and the atmosphere.....fantastic. If your into the scene then you'll get it, but if your not then please don't make me feel uncomfortable dancing to my own beat of the drum....if you want mainstream, go to Broad Street or Arcadian.....

User

I gem in the heart of Digbeth. It’s the sort of club that you could go to time and time again. The tune of the night for me was ‘Ain’t no moutain high enough’ by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

User

Great hidden gem! We had our wedding party here and I couldn't recommend it enough. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome and Clare the manager has been a total pro through the planning process. They kept their contract even to their disadvantage and just made sure we had an amazing night. Cannot recommend enough! Thanks for everything!

User

Fabulous music, friendly staff and a great mix of people will definitely be going back

User

Brilliant night at The Night Owl. Loved the music...the Soul Train dance off...and the people. xx

User

Been waiting to go here for some time and we visited for a Friends birthday. We hired the upstairs and loved the music, vibe etc. Great night

User

Always a great night in the night owl. Fantastic venue, always amazing choice of bands. Never had a bad night.

User

Absolutely brilliant place for a gig. Retro style with excellent bar staff and everyone is polite and out to mix, mingle and enjoy the night. Thanks to the bands also who played at the Bowie Birthday bash. Travelled from Corby for this, walked to the Night Owl from our hotel which took 2 hrs in sub zero temperatures because we got lost but would do it all again to enjoy a night like that.

User
