Thank you to Charley, apriya and all the staff at the pear tree for making our wedding day extra special. Nothing was to much trouble, they went that extra mile to make it so great. Huge thanks to Charley for the lead up to it as she knows how stressful I was and helped me with a lot of worrying times and issues. Lovely place our room was very large and everything there that was needed although matress was hard Food was fantastic both the evening a la carte menue and the breakfast. Staff all lovely and very helpful definitely recommend and go there again. Joey the African grey parrot was certainly entertaining if rather noisy.

Held our 40th wedding Anniversary here, an have to say the whole team got it right from start to end. Food was on point service professional Curtis friendly above all else wonderful evening.

Rochelle, Nicole, kitchen staff, an all the other teams members were fabulous, an think they all enjoyed the evening too, can’t thank everyone enough

Had our wedding at the Pear Tree on Saturday it's it was the best day we could of imagined everything went perfectly and the food was incredible. Rochelle and Nicole where fantastic throughout the whole planning process and on the day and I don't know what I would have done without either of them! We can't thank you all enough! Celebrated my dads 80th Birthday today at 'The Pear Tree' in the 'Orchard Room' he did'nt have a clue was so surprised ..... I cannot Thank all the staff enough, involved from booking to the actual meal, so professional, friendly and welcoming. It was a wonderful memory made for us all, Special Thanks to Isobel & Jo, the events co ordinators, for all their support, friendly staff and welcome greetings on reception and 'Rosie' for looking after us today, through out our meal, to wonderful bar staff and chef/staff, the meal was absolutely gorgeous, all 3 courses were yummy. Definately return and share our experience with our friends.

Came here last weekend for our daughter's birthday. The food was amazing, there were 14 of us and everyone said how good it was. The service was excellent and we had a private room too. I would highly recommend this venue for any special occasion. Thank you to all the staff!

Jo and her team were amazing and nothing was too much trouble....heating up, heating down, more chairs, the house keeping even tidied the mess in the bridal suite the morning of the wedding. Lizzie on reception sorted out the mess the cake lady left behind.

An absolute find!!! Used to lunch at a nearby garden centre where a jacket potatoes and drink cost c.£8. Here Mon to Fri a 2 course meal £7.50. The food is equally as good as any high end restaurant.

We liked the quirky character of the place. Not tired but very retro. The room was very clean & spacious. However, room for improvement - pillows (flat & only per 1 person) & shower screen over the bath - the seal gripper has perished with black mould. The staff we very friendly & the food in the restaurant was excellent. Best onions rings that I've had in ages. Breakfast too was very nice with a good selection. Will staying here again very soon when we come down for a party.

The reception staff were very friendly as were the bar staff although getting a drink often took time. The food (especially the Fish and Chips) was very good although at breakfast some staff (not the lovely Spanish girl) would only pour you half a cup of tea from an individual pot and then take the pot away??? The whole place is very tired. BUT considering the price and quiet location...great for training! All in all good food, friendly staff and definite value for money. Don't expect proper 4 star and if you're used to 5 star you'll be disappointed.

Don't get me wrong - excellent location and beautiful building and garden. But this to me does not equate exclusively to an all around good time. For a wedding, which is what I attended - you expect courteous and well mannered, helpful staff, a bar that doesn't continually run out of drinks when they've had plenty of advanced warning and notice as to how many guests are attending and even being told how many of them shall be drinking ahead of time. For a meal which costs around £70 - 80 a head you expect incredible quality food and very attentative and mannerful friendly waitresses and waiters (I worked in a Michelin star restaurant that served food for less money.) You expect for the very expensive price that was paid for the rental of the function there (I've heard around 10 grand.) For them to put a real effort - the reality was it was shocking. The bar staff were rude, lazy, managed to serve a person every 10 minutes it seemed and that was reluctantly so people started buying trays of drinks in the end for others as everyone was also dying of thirst in a place that seemed to have no water on an incredibly hot day. And that was if they hadn't ran out of the drink you wanted. Yet ofcourse they were happy enough to charge exorbitant rates for everything.

Waiting staff were ill mannered, rude actually, unfriendly, obnoxious, even at points coming around the tables and looking for unused glasses and telling us that's what they were doing so as to take those away to use rather than taking away our used glasses and washing them up. And also being heard swearing and disrespecting the guests. The place needs new management desperately.

Came to come out and second door of double had been locked no one knew where the key was. (an emergency exit). So locked in. Bar man run off his feet some wrong change given (short).

Ended up having to leave through kitchen and service corridors. Not good.

We had three rooms booked for work purposes here. We called well in advance to inform the hotel that we would not be able to make our trip. I was personally informed by the receptionist that our booking (bearing in mind that I only had ONE booking number) had been cancelled and there would be ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGES!!! A few days later the money for two of the room was taken from my account by THE PEAR TREE INN! Upon contacting them they told me to contact the third party booking agency. This company then informed me that they had no "authorization regarding the payment" and to contact the Pear Tree Inn to resolve the matter.



The first time I contacted Pear Tree Inn the receptionist informed me that nobody was presently in the hotel to sort out my issue. She took my name, number and booking information before ensuring me that I would be contacted the following day by 11pm. Two weeks passed (I had to fly out of the country for work purposes) and I had received NO CONTACT at all from Pear Tree.



I called them once again and was informed that "the system" (the woman seemed to be unsure of what "the system" actually was and who run it) had separated my booking into 3 bookings. So I had only cancelled one of the said bookings. When asked why I was not informed that I now miraculously had 3 bookings with this establishment she was unable to answer and resorted to talking over me and refusing to hear my side of the story. Instead she changed her story about 3/4 times and gave very stumbled mixed responses. I may as well have been speaking to a brick... which probably would hold better people skills and management etiquette.



What confuses me, is why Pear Tree and "the system" have failed to send me the supposed new booking numbers for the alleged 3 bookings? I only have one booking reference number... I never received more or any notification of there being more. This establishment is a money grabbing, lying, unhelpful institute. From what I have seen from other reviews, the facilities are less than satisfactory. The matter will be taken further.



For anyone considering the use of this joke of a hotel. Think again. Go and find somewhere with staff and management that will listen to you. Inform you of everything correctly and generally be good honest people. Pear Tree Inn... disgusting!!!

So I stayed here with my partner and 3 children this weekend attending a family party we normally stay in the Premier Inn but fancied a change and somewhere with more space. I won’t be staying again! Room was dirty and tired. Bathroom was dirty. Found and empty vodka bottle and a mouldy quilt stuffed in a cupboard! All I was told was we will speak to the housekeeping staff about it. One of the foldaway beds had such sharp edges we had to turn it around so it was against the wall. One saving grace was breakfast was tasty although it would have been nice to have an explanation of where everything was instead we were just left to work it out (took me a few minutes to find the hot drinks)
