The Phoenix Education Trust

About The Phoenix Education Trust

Phoenix Education has over 20 years of experience working in partnership with young people, teachers, and multiple stakeholders to amplify student voice and embed collaborative, democratic, human-centred, and rights-respecting systems, practises, and structures within schools and alternative settings. The Trust was founded by a group of students and teachers from Dartington Hall School, Sands School, and Park School in Devon that included Lynette and David Gribble, Alice Astor, and sociologist Michael Young, Baron Young of Darlington, who also founded the Open University and Which? magazine. Our Founders sought to promote an educational system in which young people are trusted, supported, and respected. We are a leading voice on democratic education and provide training, advice, and research on the matter. Our work aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 by advancing inclusive and equitable quality education. In January 2023, the Trust moved our HQ to Digbeth in Birmingham's creative quarter.
