About The Stocks Veterinary Centre

This is a facebook page aimed at our customers and friends, to share information and offers, and to allow us to keep in touch.

The Stocks Veterinary Centre Description

The Stocks Veterinary Centre moved from New Street in Upton Upon Severn where there had been a veterinary practice since 1945. We take our name from the old stocks that were situated in New Street, formerly known as Stocks Lane, in the sixteenth century. Due to the expansion of the practice in recent years we moved to the site of the old doctors surgery in School Lane in 2009.

We now run two centres, the main surgery in Upton-upon-Severn and a newly refurbished branch surgery at Lower Wick, Worcester.

So why use The Stocks Veterinary Centre?

*A wide range of services at competitive prices
*Our staff are highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to providing the best possible care for your pets
*A range of treatment options and choices enabling you to make the best decision for you and your animals

Jerry wearing his poppy with pride for Remembrance Sunday. Today we remember all the people and animals who have served, and especially those who have been lost, in conflicts over the last 100 years.

🇪🇺 Further to our post earlier this week about pet travel and Brexit we have updated our website with some of the information you need to know if you’re planning to take your pet to Europe after 29th March 2019.
🐾 If you need any further advice do give us a call.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our coffee morning last week for Acorns Children’s Hospice - either by baking, donating or coming along on the day. We raised just over £170 and had a fabulous spread of cakes and some lovely visitors!

Brexit has been very much in the news of late. One of the many unanswered questions is how this will affect the Pet Travel Scheme.
For those of you who have dogs or cats with a pet passport who may be thinking of travelling to Europe with your pet after 29th March 2019, we encourage you to read the article linked below and keep in touch regards any future travel plans as things may be changing.
It is important that you plan well ahead for European travel and possibly consid...er a 'belt and braces' approach of having your pet blood tested in advance in case this become a necessity. The blood test would need to be performed at least 30 days after a rabies vaccination and at least 3 months before intended travel date.
For further advice speak to one of our team or visit the Government website at : https://www.gov.uk/…/taking-your-pet-ab road-if-theres-no-br…

Here are some tips to remember over the next couple of weeks during the fireworks. Providing your pet with somewhere to hide, keeping curtains closed and the TV on and providing some toys or tasty treats as distraction can really help our pets cope. If you are worried about your pet then do pop in and discuss your options for additional support with one of our team.

User

The longer nights are beginning to close in and Bonfire Night - or nights as it now tends to be - is fast approaching. Visit our website for some tips and advice to help you and your pets cope.
If you feel your pet needs some additional support then please contact the surgery and make an appointment to see one of our team.

Thursday Transformation!! Here is gorgeous Gizmo sitting proudly next to his slim pet certificate and rosette!
Gizmo joined a weight programme back in November last year after one of our vets had suggested he needed to lose some weight when he was in for an annual check up.
... Gizmo and his owners were determined to get the weight off, and stuck to the plan. Slowly but surely, with the help of our lovely nurses, Gizmo started to lose the excess weight and lost a total 1.67kg! Gizmo is now happier, healthier and much more active!
Well done to Gizmo and his proud owners!

Gorgeous girls - Mittens, Boots and Paws were in for their first vaccination and health checks today. They may be a day late for International Cat Day - but were far too cute and mischievous not to share! We look forward to watching them grow!

Some of our more unusual patients from this week!
* A duckling who was neglected by it’s mother - now being cared for by Vale Wildlife.
* A swan who had a fishing hook carefully removed and returned to the river Severn
... * A hoglet (baby hedgehog!) who had an injury and fly strike (maggots) who has been taken to Malvern Hedgehog rescue.

This hot weather has brought with it our first grass seed issues of the year.
Last week lovely Betsy was the first dog to be seen with a grass seed in her ear. After walking she was suddenly very irritated by her ear and shaking her head a lot. This seed was found in her ear, which was removed after she had a sedation. She felt much better very quickly!
Grass seeds also commonly enter the skin between the toes and cause swellings or cause issues with eyes. ... If you have any concerns, especially after walking in long dry grass, please contact us immediately. Remember to check between toes and around the face after any walks as well.

A reminder for this warm weekend ahead about walking dogs on tarmac or other surfaces that heat up dramatically in the sun. Have a lovely weekend everyone! ☀️ 🐾

User

Fly strike is a horrible condition that requires you to give your bunnies extra attention during the warmer months. Check them all over at least twice daily. There are also preventative treatments that can repel flies - please get in touch if you would like to book your rabbit in for one of our nurses to apply this for you.

User

The most amazing vets with a lovely people who have looked after my lab cassie who has had her far share of problems and and have fixed her so well x

User

The Stocks vets are fab, thank you to Jess Hughes for helping our boy cat trim down, as he was a bit chunky. He is now healthy and active which is great, apart from the occasional gift of a mouse!

User

The Stocks Veterinary Centre went above and beyond when it came to looking after our poorly dog Wilco. They removed a massive tumour and cared for him through the night. He has made a fantastic recovery and is now running round like a puppy again. Wonderful people and I cannot praise them enough.

User

Stocks Vets are amazing. Used them after a friends recommendation to me and cannot recommend them more highly myself now. Kind, compassionate staff who always gave honest and 1st class service and treatment.

User

My parents use the Stocks (Bill & Jan Down). Our black and white fluff ball of a cat Fidget is very well known to the staff! He's used up his 9 lives and I think he's now making use of our other black cat, Ziggy's, 9 lives! But no matter what scrapes he's got himself into or what problems he's had the Stocks have always pulled him through and restored him to usual self - an absolute monster! lol! Their love and devotion is 2nd to none! We've come close to losing him once or twice but the Stocks never give up, best vets in Worcestershire by far! Highly recommend!

User

My little dog Gizmo always receives great treatment at Stocks! He's in the pet health club which I recommend along with his little brother cat Tigger. I always have reminders sent to me for their flea and worm treatment when its due, which is great! Gizmo joined the weight clinic with Jess as he did put some weight on!! He is on a special diet now with his dry food I buy from Stocks and he reached his goal weight, and now we maintain it by regular checks! The staff are always happy and very helpful every visit!! Also my cat is on a dry cat food diet with Stocks too and he loves the food!

User

Incredible service all round! Fantastic and extremely caring staff - a big thank you! Especially to Zoe for looking after Zena! Highly recommended!

User

I would highly recommend Stocks. The staff over there is always very professional and incredibly talented. Amazingly, it is also cheaper than most of the other local practices...!!

User

I took my 10 year old springer to the Stocks for a second opinion after being told he had days left to live by a vet I had used for years.

He had another 7 happy years thanks to all the lovely people at the Stocks.

Best vets ever.

User

I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending The Stocks Veterinary Centre in Upton upon Severn.Worcs WR8 0LF.

The surgical skill and subsequent aftercare that was demonstrated during and after an operation on my labrador`s eye was exceptional, the outcome a complete success.

User

I have been a customer of the Stocks Veterinary Centre in Worcester since it first opened back in 2003/4 and I cannot fault them in any way. Everyone is lovely, the treatment is first class and I'm over the moon with how quickly they saw my Curley yesterday when she had a vestibular episode. I cannot thank them enough, or recommend them enough :)

User

I cannot thank the stocks veterinary team enough I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have my beloved pet dog of 15 years put to sleep after finding her very unwell and unable to walk they made it all very calm and were very understanding with us they talked us through the whole procedure and even let us have time with our dog before and after thank you stocks you made it slightly less painful and for that we are eternally grateful .

User

I can't thank the lovely team enough at stocks vets for all their care during Skyla's treatment and this morning when we had to let her go Jo treated her with compassion and respect.

Thankyou all so very much x

User

I can't praise The Stocks at Lower Wick & Upton enough, we've been using them for years but unfortunately lost our boy Donald to a tumour yesterday, the nurses, vets & staff have all been so lovely throughout his short illness, we have been overwhelmed with the care and attention they gave to him right to the end, highly recommend them xx

User
