A customer wanted a lead for their Giant Schnauzer which fulfilled certain criteria.
They have just sent me a picture of the lead I made for them in action.
A 1 inch wide main lead, ending in a 'coupler' with 2 x 3/4 inch straps of differing lengths, to allow the secure attachment of the lead to a one inch wide adjustable half check collar and a body harness (not supplied by me).
... The lead and coupling were all hand stitched with a purple thread and all joints reinforced with solid copper saddler's rivets to ensure security and integrity of the whole thing.
You don't see Giant Schnauzers that often these days, but as a breed they have a huge history in Police and Military dogs throughout the world.
One of the original working dog breeds who commands respect.

In May this year, the UK 'National Police Dog Trials' are being hosted by Gwent Police.
The Traditional Leather Lead Company (aka me!) has been asked to sponsor the event and attend with various wares.
I'll be taking with me most of the 'standard' items that I supply to many Police dog sections up and down the country and if I can make them in time, other bits and bobs too.
... On top of this, I will also be providing a £100 voucher for any item I make, as a prize for the overall winner of the competition.

A 'purely positive' view on any kind of training is a brilliant ideology. It does however fail when the distraction on offer is potentially a greater reward than the actual reward that you can offer.

Come to me with a problem and I'll do my best to come up with a solution!
A customer wanted a belt for dog training, on which she could clip various bits of equipment, without it all moving around her waist.
Voila!
... Made an inch and a half wide with a solid brass 'Bristol' buckle and hand stitched with a contrasting yellow thread.
The slots are all hand cut, which allow for the 'belt loops' to be fastened securely with a solid brass billet, to keep all her kit exactly where it's clipped.
It works quite well.

"It's so big, I can't get a decent picture of it", said the actress to the Bishop!
It's taken me all morning to get the measurements right on this customised harness for a customer's 'Carpathian Shepherd'.
The pictures really don't do it justice and I would love to see the dog in question wearing it. I could actually fit into it myself!
... Over 15 feet of English bridle leather, with 46 solid copper saddlers rivets holding it all together (including 4 rivets per buckle), fitted with heavy duty solid brassware for added strength.
This thing isn't breaking on anyone's watch.

One of a matching pair made and posted today.
The 'Public Order collar' and matching 'Public Order lead'.
A very practical bit of kit, designed to support the neck of a dog engaged in duties among hostiles, while allowing free body movement and a full bite.
... The lead is designed to give the handler numerous tactical options when deploying, as the top and integrated bottom handles allow for greater control where required.
Awesome bit of kit when coupled with a dog and handler that know what they're doing.

Another year nearly over and another tax return filed!
Although I'll be at the bench until Friday, I'd like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and thank you all for your support and custom over the last 12 months.
I started this small enterprise in 2015, working from the kitchen table. Since then I've grown and grown. I now supply numerous Police dog sections, Military and security dog handlers, pet and other working dog handlers with bespoke leath...er equipment throughout the world.
I've designed and made all kinds of 'one offs', had my stuff used in a BBC drama series. I've separately hand crafted items to form part of a professional art display, by a world renowned artist, for display in galleries throughout the world.
On top of that, I worked out that I have hand made and sold items to people from every single continent in the world, with the exception of Antarctica.
I couldn't have done this without you guys, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Just received our two new Public Order collars, fantastic, very quick service, so well made, both dogs are looking very smart!

Just received Copper's new training lead. Fantastic customer service and quick response. The quality of the workmanship is obvious to see and I'm sure it will be more than up to the job of being tested rigorously by my 40kg Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. We will now look the part in dog school even if we are the naughtiest in the class!

I contacted him in February at my witts end. Knobbie my 14 month Old Thyme English Bulldog was a puller. Walks were a nightmare with me struggling to hold onto him or being dragged down the road. At this point Paul could have sold me anything he pleased. He could have taken my money and I would not have known any different. However Paul refused to sell me anything advising me to contact a trainer and get Knobbie a couple of 121 sessions.



Well a month and one training session later Knobbie is a different dog. He is becoming a dream to walk and is now sporting a beautiful leather lead made by Paul.

I am a C19th re-enactor, and needed a reproduction of a Victorian locking collar which no-one now makes. I sent a tentative enquiry to Paul on a Sunday evening, was sent photos of a prototype on Monday, and received the collar, beautifully made and just what I wanted on Wednesday. A superb, fast and very good value service. Now that the padlock to match it has arrived I have spread the word in re-enactment circles in the hope you might get some more business.
