well done Steve and jo you've made a good pub into a GREAT pub thoroughly enjoyed meal and atmosphere today
We went as a family of 5 for Sunday lunch. Very quick and polite service and the kitchen went to the trouble of doing carrot sticks for our very fussy eating 5 year old even though this was not an option on the menu. I was also very pleasantly surprised when I got the bill! I returned later that evening to take part in their weekly pub quiz, the Wattenden Arms is a great little pub. Sam and the team do a great job!
Superb food excellent service, really homely pub, thoroughly recommend it.
Sunday roast for 4 ..superb massive slices of tender beef yummy, maybe bigger yorkshire
Washed down with some nice real ale ...
Oh and a spifire fly past to boot awesome
Just had a lovely rump steak and spring onion mash with red wine/onion gravy - delicious thks to Jo the chef
It's proper dainty, the staff are awesome and food is delicious xx
I came in last night dressed from head to toe like a Labrador and not once did any member of staff put a bowl of water down for me to drink or even offer to tickle my tummy! A travesty; no wonder they looked so embarrassed!
Fantastic Christmas lunch - thoroughly recommend. Xxx
Been driving past this place for 3 years and today stopped by just killing time before school pick up. What a lovely place. Great staff. Great atmosphere and most importantly great food. Half price main meals on a Monday. Could not believe it was £8.50 for 3 meals. Thank you. See you again soon
We have just recently moved within five minutes drive of this lovely little pub so this is now our local. Friendly staff and homely atmosphere, had a nice steak meal here recently too, which was superb.
The real ales are as a rule, excellent. I usually drink the Green King IPA which is not only cheap as buggery, but delicious as well. My son loves the London Pride.
Nice little pub
Not sure what made me not love it but it was s little contrived
Food delicious, good choice of menu. Ambience good. Will certainly go again.
The staff were friendly garden area nice but my fish finger in focatta sandwich was awful the bread was rock hard and the fish dry and flavourless
Nice pub, foods average but bar staff friendly and inviting. Well worth a try, good for family's too:)
Looking forward to celebrate
The two staff were friendly but soooo overworked. They could not cope with a full pub. Order was incomplete and although menu says free top up of roast potatoes and Yorkshire this was not true. With meal we all had one small Yorkshire and 4 small roast potatoes and when we asked for more we were told we could have roast potatoes but not Yorkshire puds. After we had all finished 5 extra small roast potatoes turned up! We had asked for tap water that never turned up. Queuing for drinks took ages. Shame as pub lovely but grossly under staffed which spoilt the meal that was to celebrate my sons birthday. Will not be going back.
I brought my nan on her birthday she was 91 and booked the afternoon tea well we were quite shocked before we even sat down one of the staff said we had to pay first before anything then she brought out the food on plates well this was suppose to be on stands like a previous visit we had was on stands and lovely big teapots and China cups and saucers well this time it came our on plates and a little teapot each that only held 1 cup of tea! I asked for more tea when we finished but the one of the staff said she would have to ask if this was allowed well afternoon is drink as much tea etc! The sandwiches were ok but the scones were hard and were had to share a tiny pot of jam between the two of us which last time had one each and also the tiny pot of cream we had to share to but wasn't enough also the cakes were something from the freezer that was cut up and by the time we got to the cakes they had melted we were very disappointed as we went there in December and the service and food were lovely and got a big pot of unlimited tea and lovely cakes and sandwiches so not sure what has happened to this place will not be going back
Hasn't been the same since Mick left in early 2000s. Much preferred it in the days when the landlord knew how keep their customers happy by being social and having the right amount of staff on on holidays!!!
