Class Focus - Core blimey! This week we're doing our class focus on a Point4 favourite, Fitball. You'll activate your core for the entirety of the class, it will improve muscle tone endurance and strength. That's just the tip of the iceberg as it can also help restore or improve flexibility, enhance spinal stability, help you lose weight, and improve your balance, posture and coordination. Above all Fitball sessions complement your resistance and aerobic training programs. Fitball takes place at thePoint4 7pm every Wednesday. If you're looking to have some fitball exercises added to your fitness programme, get in touch.

Annnnnnnd stretch... Before and after the hard work is done #stretching is vital. Here's 10 reasons why; 1. Stiffness and Soreness During a hard workout, muscles go through numerous contractions which leave them in a miss-shaped and shortened state, which is why you will feel stiffness and soreness.... 2. Lactic Acid Your body produces lactic acid which makes your muscles tired and sore, stretching helps to eliminate the lactic acid. 3. Endorphins Endorphins are released after a workout once your body starts to cool down, stretching helps slow the cooling process ensuring you feel energised after your workout. 4. Blood Flow Stretching helps the blood flow back into your muscles at a more regulated pace, allowing your heart rate to come back to normal, your muscles feed on oxygen and nutrients brought in by the blood 5. Lower Back Pain The most common complaint of soreness is the lower back area. Nine times out of ten stretching the hamstrings and hip flexors, muscles that are attached to the pelvis, will relieve that pain. 6. General Posture General posture is improved, people tend to stand up straighter particularly if you focus on stretching your back, shoulders and chest 7. Tension and Anxiety General tension and anxiety lead to tension in your muscles, whether that’s stiff necks or tight shoulders. Releasing and stretching those muscles leads to a feeling of relief. 8. Flexibility Increased flexibility, which will happen the more you stretch, will enable you to exercise more effectively. 9. Toned Muscles Stretching over time will give your muscles tone and your body will look more slender. 10. Reduce the Risk of Injury Last but by no means least you reduce the risk of injury as you will have an improved range of motion, which in turn decreases resistance on your muscles. If you're looking for some appropriate stretches then ask an instructor the next time you pay us a visit :)

Class Focus - Boot Camp. Due to it's popularity in it's previous one and three week format, this extremely varied session has made it's way on to the main group exercise timetable. Often working in teams or pairs, both indoors and out, this session can help to keep your training interesting. Come prepared to have fun and try something a little different. Boot Camp takes places every Wednesday at 6pm, for more information please get in touch.

We're not sure how this happened but somehow it's NATIONAL AVOCADO DAY! This little pear-shaped fruit, also known as the “Alligator pear” has risen to become a staple part of a staggering amount of peoples diets over the last few years and here are a few reasons why.
Benefits include:
1. Anti Inflammatory properties and antioxidants
... Avocado has a high content of carotenoid antioxidants. This makes it a highly anti-inflammatory fruit that helps in reducing the risk of inflammatory and degenerative disorders.
2. Improved heart health
High levels of homocysteine are associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Avocado contains folic acid and vitamin B6, which are known to regulate homocysteine levels.
3. Lower high blood pressure
Because of the high content of potassium it has, the avocado can help in lowering high blood pressure.
4. Lower cholesterol levels
In one study, 45 volunteers experienced an average drop in cholesterol of 17% after eating this fruit for only one week.
5. Assists nutrient absorption
Research has found that certain nutrients are absorbed better when eaten with avocado. This is the case with fat-soluble phytonutrients that require a certain combination and amount of dietary fats to be absorbed.
6. Balances your hormone levels
Certain fats are necessary for fat metabolism and fat breakdown as well as for hormone production. Essential fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6) in their organic state benefit us. Avocado is high in fats, and yes those are the “good” fats.
7. Controls blood sugar
The good (monounsaturated) fats in avocados can help keep your blood sugar in check by improving insulin sensitivity.
8. It helps your body fight free radicals
I thought free radicals were just a 1990's pop band, but apparently, they're also things you don't necessarily want in your body. The antioxidants in avocado help fight them which can slow the ageing process and encourage a healthy nervous system.
AVA great evening .... see what we did there :)

***IMPORTANT NOTICE***
Class Change: starting from this Wednesday
We will now be holding Boot Camp every Wednesday 6pm-6:45pm instead of Barbell Superset. The class will still be in the Kindred studio, however depending on the weather it may be taken outside (will be the instructors choice).
... The idea of this change is to give you more variety of sessions and to keep things fresh, Boot Camp sessions are always fun, varied and challenging... but suited for everyone.
The Instructors will change between themselves every week so you will always have new training methods for you to enjoy and to be put through your paces.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us, please book on and give it a go, you will love it.
