About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Stonebridge, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Meriden's favourite carvery restaurant.

User

We were visiting Birmingham and looking for somewhere to eat.

The service was great and the carvery was superb. We will definitely go there again when we are in the area

User

Superb service and food to die for!! We visit here as a family and as a couple and have never had a bad meal yet. The staff are always really friendly and polite and have a chat to us when they have time obviously, the food is cooked to perfection and the meat is lovely! A definite must for a Carvery fan.

I’d booked a table for 20 to celebrate a 70th birthday. When we arrived, there was no reference to my booking (I’d mistakenly booked a completely different restaurant). The lovely helpful manageress, not only phoned around trying to locate the venue I had booked, when She couldn’t , she manoeuvred a few tables and managed to fit us all in!! We had a great evening and lovely service. Many many thanks to Julie, the Manageress who saved my day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a gorgeous turkey salad here couple of weeks back. Gorgeous food and brilliant service well recommended

User

Called in last night for a very last minute carvery. 3 seperate couples all turned up at once. We all got seated throughout the restaurant by the waitress, the girls were very happy and helpful. The chef was very cheerful aswell, couldn't fault the food after a long drive back from Cheltenham. It's a shame it's not nearer to where we live

User

User

Absolutely love this place are waitress little jo gave us great service definitely recommend this establishment

User

My wife wants to kidnap Kim the waitress and brong jer to our local Carvery. Thank you we jad a lovely time

User

The food here is good and the service is top also, the only thing I see that gets this place down is the incredible heat on the inside, at one point I saw 2 hobbits run past and throw a ring inside

Please invest in air con or get windows that open otherwise you will see a lot of custom go elsewhere.

I’ll be back in the winter though

User

We had a 2 month old child with us in a pram & when we booked in the lady could see he was in a pram so when we were taken to our table we had to go up some steps & wasn’t offered any help off the waitress as she just look at us until we carried it up the stairs where we were sat which was the hottest spot in the place next to the food queue (not good for newborns).............it was the same when we left........no help off any staff as the just watched even though they were really close by

Another issue is the calling over the loud speaker when the table was ready (like at a bad disco) not a good idea

It was a shame as the food was really good so compliments to the chef

User

The breakfast carvery food was delicious but the attitude of the staff was bad. I had a coffee with my breakfast which cost £2.09 but then changed my mind so instead of having a coffee in my coffee cup I had a cup of pop (which should have been £1.50) but got stopped and was told I couldn’t do that as I had paid for coffee so if I want pop I will have to pay another £2.59 for a proper glass . Are they stupid or something

I visited this restaurant earlier this evening with my partner after a long day and a fair distance travelled. On arrival we waited to be attended to. After a while a female member of staff, who was intent on her phone but standing behind the bar in view of the public, caught sight us and raised her eyes to the sky semingly indicating she was not pleased to have to deal with us. She stomped around to us, found out that we needed a table for two, and with a cursory toss of the head indicated that we should follow her. We sat at the table and she took an order for a glass of lemonade which was delivered. We had already been made to feel that we were an inconvenience and not welcome.

We had had a long day out and had looked forward to a nice meal. Eventually another female member of staff enquired if we were having a carvery I explained that we probably were at that stage. No-one previously had asked if we wanted starters (which we now wouldn't bother with) and could she tell us where the carvery was since it was the first time we had visited the restaurant. The reply, again dismissive, was "Just up the stairs" - wherever that was.

Because of the total lack of customer service, rudeness and unwelcoming attitude of two members of staff we decided that we would leave, without having a meal. It was therefore felt important that we informed the manager of our experience and decision to leave. I asked a member of staff if I may speak to the manager, she identified herself as the duty manager. As I was starting to relate details, the second member of staff we had encountered butted into the conversation and said that "x" (first member of staff) had been on duty since such a time and had now gone home. The second member of staff also then started answering back, saying what did we expect? - she herself had been really busy and was having to cover sweets in all that area.

As her manner, and that of the "duty manager", was becoming more hostile and unwilling to listen to my observations I decided to leave in order to avoid further conflict. My partner stayed behind for a short time after I left and surprisingly the second member of staff identified herself as duty manager. Not the same person who had told me that she was the duty manager.

I'm shocked to have to report such appalling customer service, total lack of concern and indeed staff of any grade arguing with customers. To be giving this establishment a score of 1 is far more generous than it deserves for interpersonal skills and customer service.

The three female members of staff concerned need improvement of their attitude towards guests. If a manager handles a complaint in such a way there is no hope for guests.

I regularly visit my local Toby carvery but came to this one as I am attending a local concert. I was extremely disappointed when I went to the carvery. I went for a king size because I love Yorkshire puddings ( which Toby's are usually the best!) yet this time, they are serving what I would call crunchy pancakes!

The roast potatoes were like charcoal!

There was only one full pot of gravy which was super thick and lumpy! And no bread sauce !

When speaking to the manager. She told me that they were fresh yorkshires and basically didn't understand my issue.

Told me to go get different potatoes if I wanted. But it's not the point, the new ones were just as burnt !

The restaurant was soooo hot it was uncomfortable to even have my meal!

Very disappointed !!!!

Had a booked meal for family to celebrate new year. The waitress acted like we were an inconvenience, and was rude. Virtually none of the menu items were available , starters didn't turn up . When pudding came out with cream dispite specifically stating no cream was snapped at "what's wrong with it" to have it returned in a couple of minutes with it just being scraped off the top. Good job there wasn't an allergy. Then rudeness again when asking for the bill to be itemised and it wasn't initially. Never had service like it from here . Dreadful

User

Awful customer care. By the looks of previous reviews not a one off occurrence either.

Arrived today at the Toby for lunch in Birmingham Stonebridge at 11.50 and were seated immediately, drinks order taken and told carvery would open in 10 mins, by the time we were told that it was ready a queue had occurred, it appeared that other tables were told to go and queue, but we were told to wait.

The food was fantastic one of the best carvery’s had in a Toby for a while plentiful, fresh and tasty.

Desserts were poor a dry greasy cheesecake and I paid £4.19 for a munchies sundae which was just icecream with a wafer, sauce and 4 munchies....that was an extra £1.00 from a plain ice cream a total ripoff.

The waitress just said, never had any complaints about the cheesecake and walked off, she did note our complaint and removed the cheescake from the bill when she presented it.

When going to pay the bill the waitress told us they would not accept our scottish £20 notes, it was the company policy, as they have been getting a lot of fakes in scottish money recently.

We challenged it was a uk tender and she confirmed we could not pay with them and we were forced to find acceptable english notes which was so upsetting, embarrassing and distressing to my party of 4, alleging our notes could be fake and refusing our money.

I would like our treatment today to be investigated by Toby.

Are Toby prioritising english guests over scottish ones thus exibiting anti-scottish discrimination ?

Is Toby rejecting scottish bank notes as a result of company policy that fails to accept that they are a UK Parliament-approved legal currency, which makes them a perfectly acceptable way to pay?

Does Toby provide staff with evidence to support the rationale that suggests that fake bank notes are more likely in scottish bank notes than english one and does that seem like an acceptable reason for not accepting them ?

Is staff training in embarrassing and distressing your non- english customers a value you wish to exhibit as a business ?

In this current modern world I can only today appreciate why Scotland voted with a yes to brexit, as a previous no voter today certainly made me rethink my decision,

Kind regards
