About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Quinton, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Birmingham's favourite carvery restaurant.

Visit this carvery on a number of occasion. ..very friendly staff...good service...adequate portions of meat..and of course you can top up with potatoes and various veg...

We usually stayed over until closing time to have a drink at the bar...very nice...

User

Very good food also the staff were very good too .They were busy but still made time to help you .Will go again on our next visit to Quinton .

User

My husband and I went in for a carvery yday we enjoyed ours very much although the pensioners at the table beside were moaning constantly about the food being warm and hard to cut roasties, hard to please everyone, would visit again

User

I love this place an I think the servers are great so much better to be able to have a laugh with someone then be served by miserable staff .. my only issue would be the food not being hot but then I do like me to burn my mouth out

User

Came for Sunday lunch whilst supported a service user with autism.

Asked if we could sit in a booth, Andrew and Tracey (front of house) stated that they aren’t waited tables however would ensure we had service to the table as it was quieter. Andrew made sure we were happy and had everything we needed, he even said if one member of our team wanted to wait in the queue once they were ready to be served would help get our service user and other staff member to the front. Andrew could not help enough, even offered to carry our plates to the table.

Andrew and Tracey ensured all our needs were met whilst managing table availability. They went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable and pleasant.

User

Brilliant food and staff

And all so reasonably priced.

We are here on holiday so we have already experienced tourist prices.

My wife says that this Toby is better than some near home.

Especially the roast taters

User

Staff very polite and helpful even though it was so busy. Loved the banter of the chefs carving the meat. I'm really fussy with food and this was all delicious. Any choice of meats, massive yorkshire puds, lots of tasty veg and the roast potatoes melted in your mouth. Table service was good and it was lovely and clean. Had a groupon voucher offer which was a bargain including a drink. Even though it was a bit of a drive we'd go back as enjoyable night.

User

Great food and staff was friendly too asking if everything was okay

User

Haven’t been here for some while and have to say it has gone downhill.

Slow service, in dire need of a refurb and decorating, NO CRACKLING, limited choice of veg, no horseradish or apple sauce.

The person responsible for drinks ordering needs a kick up the backside, too. No Shiraz, no Malbec, no Rioja. Had to make do with a sour-ish Cabernet Merlot.

Roasties were v good, thank heavens.

All in all, will not hurry back, sad to say, as I have always raved about Toby and this was not the best experience by some way.

User

Food was lovely. Enjoyed our lunch there apart from having to change my 2 year olds nappy in the ladies on the floor as they couldn't 'find' the key!

User

Went on Saturday night. It was sooooo busy. They have re-done part of the restaurant to add more tables but haven't increased the number of staff to serve these extra tables. We queued for some time to get to the serving hatch. The guy carving the meat was exhausted, sweaty and rushed. He was trying to fill the veg pots as well as carve. The fresh veg was dumped on top of the old. Roast potatoes were swimming in oil. The old serving spoons were used in the new veg/potatoes. Veg options were limited with 3 different types of potatoes and some pasta/macaroni cheese (with a carvery??) There was no gravy left and all the sauces had been contaminated by the other sauces. The whole place was boiling and eating our meal became a chore. Really disappointing experience.

User

Went last night for my sons birthday. The waitress was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very mediocre. The kitchen staff were extremely slow at replenishing food and the choices were very limited. They ran out of beef. The guy serving the meat kept disappearing - meaning the queue to be served was halfway round the dining area. On the whole - it was disappointing we’ve had MUCH better in the past.

User

We visited the Quinton Carvery, this evening, and after never having a bad meal there, this time was a different matter!

Firstly it took 5 minutes or so before we were even greeted and there didn't seem to be any staff (only 2 waitresses were spotted).

The chef wasn't the friendliest of chaps and again we waited a while for him to appear from the kitchen. He disappeared before my husband could be served to fetch another turkey, only to be told there were no plates left for king size. There were no roast potatoes on the hot plates, there was no gravy in any of the three pots and no ice in the ice machine for refillable drinks. There were no straws available on the bar for my children and no staff at the bar to ask!

My husband took my little boy to the toilet, and they were so disgusting and unclean, the floor was soaking wet, my husband refused to let him use an actual cubicle.

We visit this carvery on many occasions, I even celebrated a big birthday with yourselves a fortnight ago, and Ive never known it to be this bad. I am very disappointed. I would be interested to hear your comments regarding this.

User

Meat portions are getting smaller and smaller, might as well be vegetarian.... don’t like waitresses calling me babe, darling, sweetheart.

£6.99 for a normal carvery in the week and £9.99 on a Sunday or bank holiday, I wouldn’t go then as probably get same meat portions.....

User

Had a festive lunch. Starter of pâté was tasteless and served with bread not toast and no salad. Main course, the standard carvery, was cold. The waitress heated it up presumably in a microwave which is probably OK for beef which I had, but not for turkey or pork, I wouldn't think. Pudding was best course. The waiting staff are cheerful and hard working but the place itself is not especially welcoming and lacks atmosphere. If you want a cheap, average roast dinner, then come here. If you want an enjoyable dining experience this is not the place.

User

While nearly finishing my meal I found what can only be described as a pube in my gravy , to make up for it the manager offered to throw away the rest of the gravy so no one else would have some

User

This establishment has, within 12 months, rapidly declined to beng abysmal.

Managers who are aware (and gave coceeded themselves) of the on going problems of poor quality, do not tae ownership with a view to improving.

Anybody of zero food knowledge, can see when crispy roast potatoes are actually burnt and dried out potatoes... except Toby staff.

These same managers keep blaming 'Brakes,' their supplier, for the poor beef quality.

Last night, no gammon or turkey, overcooked pork and the beef scraps were hardly edible with a meagre choice of accompaniments.

Drinks machine not beng replenished.

This is becoming a sad reflection of companies like Mitchell's & Butler, who have little interest in quality, but try to live off a long expired reputation.

I've asked a member from head office to meet me there for lunch, with a view to showing them the depths of poor quality, the place has plummented.

User

No staff and those that were there were away with the fairies. Waited ages for a table. Ages to order drinks and even longer for said drinks to arrive. There was no cutlery on the table and again we waited a very long time for that. The point of a carvery for us is good choice of veggies. Peas and carrots and a random rock hard pasta bake simply doesn't cut it. Im so glad we're not going xmas day. Previous years have been good but I suspect given our recent visit anyone eating thereon 25th December will be very disappointed.

User

I came to the Toby carvery with my 8 month old son and gave him some of my veg off my plate (fully paying adult carvery meal) I then asked for a box to take my left overs home so that my son could have it after his nap. I was then told that to take it home I had to pay and as it turns out your reteraunt would rather throw his food in the bin and not let him have it, rather than give us a box to take it home.

I have come in the past and not only was I given a box to take it home in, I was offered fresh vegetables as what I had had been sat on my plate whilst I'd been here.

I am absolutely disgusted at my service today.

I hope your company are very happy with yourselves, rather than letting us take my left overs home for my son's tea, you'd rather them go in the bin and be wasted!!!!
