United Kashmir People’s National Party was formed by progressive nationalists of Pakistan controlled Kashmir in 1985 to change the political narrative on Kashmir as prevailing political views coined by Islamabad and New Delhi that misrepresented the Kashmir context and sentiments. The exploitation of human and natural resources were catalyst in nurturing and shaping political ideology and social psychology of progressive nationalists youth in Pakistan controlled Kashmir and poor social-economic conditions and political deprivation remained unattended and unrepresented. As a result, political and economic marginalization of Pakistan controlled Areas gave birth of new ideology seeking equal rights, political ownership and economic empowerment of Pakistan controlled Kashmir.
