Veritas Primary Academy Description

Veritas Primary Academy is a primary school that thinks and dreams big for its pupils. Expectations are high for all who make up our community and these standards are reflected in the wonderful physical environment we have developed to enable children to flourish within and beyond the school walls. We are committed to developing learners who are well prepared to be successful citizens of the 21st century.

Veritas opened as a brand new primary academy in September 2015, with a large majority of our families relocating from overseas. Our building refurbishment has turned an imposing library building into a bright, modern and inspiring learning environment and we are continuing to invest in our setting – offering up-to-date technology and vibrant teaching and learning spaces for our pupils and staff.
We are working hard to establish our ethos and core values resulting in a happy, inspiring learning environment where children are motivated to achieve and where staff are encouraged, supported and developed to continually strive for excellence.

The school photos are back and on their way home. All children, with orders placed, were given their school photo packs today so please check your children's bags for these.
We've also had our Christmas Gifts delivery so messages were sent out to all parents who had placed orders. You will need to pop to the school office to collect these as we need you to sign for your items. We hope they will make loved ones feel very special this Christmas with a handmade gift :)
Other let...ters coming home today: Y5/Y6 Residential meeting for parents (Y5 & Y6 participants only) Nursery Reading (Nursery children only)

Tuesday night saw the Year 5/6 Athletics team take part in the County Athletics Finals. We competed in relays, jumping and throwning events and placed 7th overall in the competition. A fantastic result!
The children again showed their fantastic athletics skills as well as their consistent sportsmanship, which is equally as important. Miss Frost and Mrs Dean were so impressed with the children and proud of how well they represented Veritas again.
We would like to thank all th...e staff helpers Mrs Newby, Mrs Powell and Mrs Buxton who supported the children in the event. Also, to our parents who very kindly supported the children by transporting the children to Blessed William Howard High School.
We look forward to more Athletics competitions in 2019.

Veritas raised a total of £397.24 for Children In Need on Friday thanks to the efforts of our school community.
We would like to say a special thank you to our School Parliament, and Miss Kimpton, for all their hard work in organising a fun day! And a huge thank you to all who got into the spirit and entered the Bake Off competition.
It is important to us that our children learn to grow into active responsible adults. Involvement in fundraising activities is motivating and fun for young children and it is important we give our pupils the opportunity to understand about issues affecting our world. We are very proud, and lucky, to have a generous school community and we hope the resulting impact of this is that all our children will grow up to feel good about fundraising.

Everyone has had a great day for Pudsey PJ Day! The school parliament worked very 'hard' to judge the Bake Off and are excited to announce the winners are....
1st place - Aiden (Y2) 2nd place - Harrison (R) 3rd place - Sophia (R)
... We thank everyone who got into the spirit and joined in the Bake Off. We have been overwhemled by the amount of entries and look forward to the after school Cake Sale. Please pop along to get an after school treat!
We will update you next week on the total amount our school community has been able to contribute to this wonderful charity. We hope you enjoy the programme on the BBC tonight!
We also wish to thank our hard working catering team for the fab Pudsey Bear mathematician cookies they made today to celebrate Children In Need and our Magical Maths Week. Thank goodness we got a photo before they were all eaten!!

There is quite a lot of information coming home today: Parents Evening - Autumn Term (all children) Christmas Card Project (all children) EYFS Stay & Play (N & R only) Y2 Sea Life Centre Trip (Y2 only)... PAN Disability Session (selected participants only)
The information regarding Parents Evening details how you can book your appointment with your child's class teacher online using your Tucasi Scopay account. If this is the first time you are using the system for this purpose, you can pick up some instructions from the front desk to help you navigate your way to book your appointment.
We also just wish to highlight the letter about the Christmas Card Project. We are really excited to be able to offer parents the opportunity to purchase a gift for Christmas designed by your child! The children have worked hard to design a lovely Christmas image that can be printed onto mugs, gift tags, christmas cards, tea towels or bags. Samples of their work are coming home with the children for you to see how this will look on a Christmas card. If you would like to buy any items you can do so on your Tucasi Scopay account selecting the quantity of each item. If you have more than one child please ensure you select each account individually to make sure the right design is made. We know that for friends and family there is often nothing nicer than a homemade Christmas card or gift so we hope parents will be pleased with the option to buy something 🤗🎄

Last week these amazing Year 5 and 6 children represented Veritas at Sportshall Athletics Primary Competition at Blessed William Howard High School. We competed against 6 other schools in a very exciting and quick paced competition.
Miss Frost (PE Teacher) and Mrs Dean (PE Coordinator) were very impressed with both the children's commitment to their event and how well they supported their teams. They were, most defintely, the loudest supporters there!!
The teams competed in ...numerous relays, throwing and jumping events. Sadly, they didn't make it through to the County event but all 19 children involved should be so proud of what they achieved as a team.
We thank our staff members who attended and helped with the logistics of getting children into correct event, and those parents who helped transport children to the event. Your support makes all the difference to enabling our children to take part in these great sporting activities. We look forward to the next Athletics event!
