About Vintage Virtu
Hi, We're Denise & David from Vintage Virtu. We upcycle furniture, lighting and just about anything else.

Some of the beautiful and relaxing pieces that we have created.
An old bakelite voltmeter that got 'lampyfied'
This is the last lamp I'll be making for a while & it's based on an old ammeter. The table is a very nice 1950s Pine one made for a school in Bristol. I bought it for a customer who then cancelled the order after I'd paid for it, so now it's up for sale. It's getting harder these days to keep the momentum up as every job comes with a set of niggles that shouldn't be there. Anyway I'm back in the 'Hobbit's Cave' making furniture again which is a welcome change & a chance to get some space made.

Well, repainted a piece that was sticking, rewired a lamp that we've had for 10 years, & collected this pair of bedside cabs. They fall into the 'what have I done' category. They'll not stay like that for long as they're already in my way.
Whatever he was carrying originally we can only guess, as it had broke off in his hand. The replacement is pretty ok.
More trade work finished, I'm getting to work on some truly beautifull Art Deco lamps, and one for the shop. He's a fragile 19th century spelter statue of a soldier. Denise found him & he has his issues so I gave him another chance as a lamp.

What can we say, It's Facebook!
We've been hard at it! Denise found time to paint this cute little child's chair in between everything else. I've still been on lamps, refurbing 2 vintage green industrial shades, cut down a 3kg gas bottle to make a pendant lamp & converted a 'John Smiths' beer pump to a table lamp, using a stainless tankard as a shade. Also converted this wall clock cabinet to a wall cupboard. Onto more trade work!

Been very busy with trade lamp work, but have managed to come up with a couple of blackboards in some very nice frames and a converted blowlamp to a table lamp & a recommisioned lantern.

What we been doin' then? Denise has been busy making & selling stuff & I've been doing a bit too. Repaired a Gent of Leicester electric double face clock & fitted a new movement into a Gent GPO clock, rewired 2 picture lamps & 2 Deco table lamps including fittings all for a trade customer. Then repaired this stand chair which Denise re-upholstered, converted this small brass oil carriage lamp & converted the copper kettle to a pendant lamp, oh and a small ice bucket. We've been very busy selling nearly all our lamps so I've got to get inventive & make some more. Keep 'em comming.
These 4 were a trade job to convert into lamps. Not quite as straightforward as it looked. On to the next job.
These 2 kept attacking me in the Hobbit's Cave, so I marmalised them with the sander. Oh, and we've got a sale on.
Display cabinets can be awkward to re-invent. This one had a very nice door & a glass side missing. So it got 2 wood sides & a grey paint job. I then stripped out the linnen covering on the shelves & back, painted it yellow & fixed LED strip up the sides & across the top.
