Don't forget our Leamington Campus Open Evening tonight. 5.30 - 8pm. We have a variety of Art, Media, Games and Performance courses at levels 1 through to 6 on offer and tonight is your chance to meet the staff and gain an insight into the study options available.
BA (Hons) Level 6 Full-time This year long practical-led course seeks to harness ways of seeing and discussing film to develop students' artistic visions and technical expertise in visual storytelling, both fictiona...l and non-fictional. Although it has been designed to follow on from the FdA Digital Film Production at WCG (see previous post), the course also provides a 'top up' year for any student from a level 5 Arts or Media background as a progression route to final year honours degree studies. We believe that film is not just what we see, film is an embodied experience which encompasses tactile images, taking the audience beyond the film text itself. Increasingly filmmakers are using newer technologies and techniques developed for shooting, editing and sound in capturing reality in a more sensory way.
This course is subject to validation by University of Gloucestershire, who are the awarding body.
Come along to our open evening tonight and meet the dedicated and talented staff, visit the facilities and find out all the opportunities this course can lead to.

On 13th October 2018, TEDx returned to Leamington Spa with the theme of 'Rhythm'. The college was heavily involved in the event and BA Hons Games Art worked on a brief to produce content for the show.
Read on to see a post from Andrew Brazier, Course Leader for BA Hons Games Art outlining all the hard work the students have been undertaking.
"Three weeks ago we told our BA(Hons) Games Art students that TEDx was coming to Leamington again, and this year's theme was 'Rhythm'.... Then we told them that we were going to be exhibiting two games that they were going to make, as part of the show. Within a day of receiving the brief, we had two teams and outlined ideas. By the end of the first week, prototypes were well under development and graphics were coming together. By the end of the second week, the games were pretty much done. The third week was spent adding polish and nice little details.
Both teams put in a huge effort to get two brilliant little games made in time. The end results are 'Leaping Over The Dragon's Gate' (a game based on legend about a Koi carp becoming a dragon), and 'Quite The Oar-deal' (a two player collaborative virtual reality rowing game)
The games were available for event attendees to play this weekend, and a lot of players of all ages took part. We received loads of great feedback, including a lot of people who were amazed that they managed to make such professional looking games in such a short time.
Huge congratulations to all the students for their efforts!"
