Don't forget the last of our winter league matches takes place this coming Saturday 2nd March. The presentation will take place after the match. Also don't forget that you have already paid for this match in advance so you won't need to pay your £22 entry fee, this week! Main contenders are Adam Jones, Kevin Williams, Andy Penn and Mick Dudley plus one or two other anglers but all to be decided on the day!
... Subs welcome as usual as long as we are notified in advance.
Draw time 9am, fish 10.30 am to 3.30pm, or thereabouts.
The cafe will be open all day, as usual.
Look forward to seeing you.

Hi Folks It is the 9th round of the Winter League this coming Saturday 16th Feb. Same as usual - 9am draw, fish 10am ish until 3pm ish and subs are welcome as always. Cafe is open all day for drinks, hot and cold food. The last W/L match was fished between icebergs and ice flows (LOL), in ice cold water - it was a surprise any fish were caught at all but we did have a few carp to weigh in with 1st - 25lb, 2nd 11lb and 3rd 9lb. Day ticket anglers have reported fish starting to feed especially in the small section of the Match Lake and even more so on on the Brook Pool. The main contenders for prizes are still Adam Jones, Kevin Williams, Mick Dudley, Andy Penn and Andy Ward but it remains very tight between them and others are still not far behind. Look forward to seeing you. Regards. Paul.

WINTER LEAGUE UPDATE (Sat 2/2/2019)
Hi folks. The aerators and today's wind have done their job and there are now around 20 pegs fishable without needing to break any ice. We will keep the aerators on over night and hopefully the Match Lake will be even more free of ice by morning. The Specimen and Brook Pools are completely frozen over so we will keep the match on the Match Lake. Hope to see you all in the morning. Regards Paul.

WINTER LEAGUE UPDATE (2nd Feb 2019)!
Wassell Grove Fishery Just a quick update. The Brook and Specimen Pools are frozen solid but we currently have around 11/ 12 pegs fishable on the Match lake where the aerators have mostly kept the water free from ice. Other pegs would need the ice breaking. The good news is though, it looks like the forecasted snow is now going to miss us so, hopefully, the track will not be a worry. The ice looks a b it too thick to row the boat through it so can I suggest that you break the ice (if needed) at your own peg. We have some ice breakers available but anyone wishing to bring their own are more than welcome. I will post another update late Friday evening. All being well, look forward to seeing you Saturday.

The stockies we put in around 12 months ago are growing well as witnessed by one of our anglers Tyler Pugh who caught plenty of them a couple of weeks ago. They are in mint condition and growing at their fastest rates in the Specimen Lake and the Brook Pool. We have stocked 4,500 more small, mixed carp into the Brook Pool, 2,000 more into the Match Lake and 1,500 more into the Specimen Lake in the last 5 to 6 weeks. Hope they do as well as these!

Hi Folks. This Saturday 2nd Feb sees the 8th round of our winter league. As normal the draw will be 9am, fish approx. 10am to 3pm and substitutes are allowed. The cafe will be open all day as usual. At the moment the lakes are approx. 99% free from ice but snow is forecast for tomorrow and Thursday and the cold weather may continue so if our track becomes dangerous or if the pools are frozen over, I will post information on Friday evening. If the track is passable but the pools are frozen over can I ask you to message below how you would feel about fishing if we break the ice in the morning? This would be a great help. Hopefully, look forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Regards. Paul.

H folks. We seem to be having a few probs when we are trying to arrange opens or knock ups! Today we could quite easily have been able to proceed with a knock up and my apologies go out to Glynn who turned up first thing and to Darren who asked if there were sufficient numbers and to one or two others who wanted to fish. To try to help everyone who wants to fish and for those who bother to turn up on the day, I think we need to ask people to put their names forward but please... refrain from asking how many have booked in as, at the moment, if we have say 4 booked in, then it seems almost impossible to get past this number, as anglers just won't bother to, either, turn up or book in, if we tell them the numbers who have booked in so far. In other words it's a vicious circle which only adversely affects the people who make an effort. From our own point of view we are fairly quiet like so many other fisheries, so it is fairly irrelevant but come the spring and summer months when we are busy we will have to make a common sense business decision as to whether we entertain opens at all, especially when we close off pools at the detriment of our regular day ticket anglers. As you are more than aware, we are not one of the most prolific venues (yet) but all we are looking for is commitment and a bit of common sense. So what I propose is, if numbers are not attractive enough for anyone (including us) to hold a knock up, or a larger open (after anglers have booked in), then it can be seen on Facebook, the preceding evening, whether the contest will be proceeding, or not but please refrain from asking numbers booked in so far as I will not respond to this question, so as to help the anglers who do turn up. Nevertheless, we thank our regular open anglers who are, or have been supporting us, whilst we try turn this fishery around. Look forward to seeing you at next Saturday's winter league match which I will post a reminder about sometime next week. Best wishes Paul

Hi Folks. Kevin Williams has asked if anyone is interested in fishing a knock up this Saturday (26th Jan). We have a couple booked in so far so if anyone would like to fish please let us know. Draw time 9am or thereabouts Regards. Paul.

Hi folks. It's the 7th round of our winter league this coming Saturday 19th Jan. Current contenders for the honors are Mick Dudley, Adam Jones, Andy Ward and Kevin Williams but it is still all to play for with many anglers not far behind. Substitutes are welcome as usual, if required. We have installed a new aeration system on the Match Lake and is now nearly complete with 2 out of 4 aerators now fully working. You may need to wear your sunglasses when driving down to the car... park as we have now dyed the Match Lake a lovely shade of blue!! with the Specimen and Brook Pools hopefully following suit tomorrow. We are hoping that this will help the fish become more confident in feeding now the water is no longer crystal clear. The draw time will be 9am and fish 10am to 3pm (or thereabouts) and the cafe will be open as normal throughout the day. Finally, my thanks to Lee and Darren for their help this morning and on other recent occasions, with installing the very nearly completed aeration system. Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Regards. Paul.

Hi Folks. We are holding our next open this coming Saturday 12th January but following some recent good sport and results, this will be on the Brook Pool. The draw will be at 9am and fish 10am until 3pm and the cafe will be open as usual but hot food can only be served until 11am (or thereabouts) this week. Cold food and hot drinks are available as normal. Following Saturday's 6th round of the Winter League, our congratulations go out to Adam Jones, and Andy Penn who weighed ...in 44lbs and 34lbs respectively from the Brook Pool and to Kevin Williams for over 9lb of silvers from the Match Lake which is fishing very hard at the moment. Several decent Perch have also been caught from the Brook Pool recently with one approaching 3lb !! a few days ago and one over 1.5lb today. Some good fish are also coming out of the Specimen Lake with one approaching 18lb caught yesterday by our regular anglers, Tom. Hope to see you Saturday.

We will try to hold this week's contest wholly on the Match Lake but we may need to put one section on Brook Pool depending on numbers. Draw time 9am, fish 10am (approx.) until 3pm (approx.). The cafe will be open all day as usual. Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Good luck on the day. Regards. Paul

NEXT OPEN IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY 27th DECEMBER 2018
Hi Folks. Today's 5th round winter league match (Fur and Feather) fished much, much, much better with some good weights including over 14lb of silvers included in Kevin Williams's 4th placed weight. The winning weight was just under 33lb caught by Clive Munslow with some decent back up weights. We are holding a post Xmas open on Thursday 27th December 2018, 9am draw, fish 10am until 3pm. All are welcome. Please let is know if you wish to fish (several anglers have already booked in). Look forward to hearing from you and may we take this opportunity of wishing all our customers and friends of the fishery a fantastic Xmas and prosperous New Year. Regards. Paul.

Hi folks. We hold the 5th round of our winter league this Saturday. By popular request this will also be our 'fur and feather'. I know, I know!.... we weren't going to hold a 'fur and feather' this year but this seems to have been a relatively poor decision (on my behalf)!! So, if we could trouble each angler to bring along a small gift then every angler will go away with a little something at the end of the match. Furthermore, we will ourselves, be gifting a little something... for each angler. To date, the main contenders for the silvers prize are: Adam Jones, Andy Ward, Kevin Williams and Andy Penn. The main contenders for the overall competition prizes to date are: Mick Dudley, Andy Ward and Adam Jones with many others not far behind. It is very early days and anyone could win it, especially how the points system works this year and don't forget you can drop your worst two results. The draw is as 9am, fish 10am until 3pm and the cafe will be open as usual. As far as I am aware we need one substitute this week so if anyone is interested please let us know. Look forward to seeing you Saturday. Regards. Paul.

Hi all. Kevin Williams has asked if we can hold an open this coming Saturday. The Match Lake is fishing very hard but at least it is fair for everyone, however, an angler did catch 40 plus of F1s today from peg 1 where it seems to be the home of thousands of F1s that we introduced since taking over at Wassell Grove, 2 yrs ago!! The Brook Pool is fishing far easier than the Match Lake at the moment, as it still has some colour in it, whereas the Match Lake is crystal clear. If interested let me know as soon as possible and indicate your preferred pool. If we have enough numbers then the majority preference will decide which pool we fish. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards. Paul.

Hi all. It's the 4th round of our winter league this Saturday. Don't forget that Kevin Williams (of CDC Commercial Decorators Ltd) is heavily sponsoring this season's event so we really owe Kevin a good turn out. If anyone wishes to be a sub please let us know, just in case we have one or two members that are unable to fish. The match is split this week between the Match Lake (3 sections) and the Brook Pool (1 section). The cafe is open as usual from 7.30 am. Look forward to seeing you Saturday. Regards. Paul.

Hi Folks. Arron and Dave are unable to make this week's 3rd round of our winter league which means we have vacancies for two subs. If anyone is interested, please let me know as soon as possible. Regards. Paul.
