Thank you to everyone who has asked about Jilani, one of our male lions. On Wednesday, a dispute happened between Jilani and a female lion over some meat. Jilani and his two brothers usually stick together and are able to keep the lionesses in order, but on this occasion the other females became involved first. Our experienced keepers were immediately on the scene and split up the fight.
Jilani has been checked over by our vet and apart from being a bit stiff and sore, he ha...s not sustained any serious injuries and has been given some pain relief. He is now resting with his brothers away from the females, but will rejoin the pride this weekend.
The males were introduced slowly to the females last year, so the pride is still settling in under the watchful eyes of our carnivore keepers. Lions are very tough animals and disputes similar to this are very common in the wild.

Went to safari park with my brother girlfriend and kids and my mom and dad and the weather was hot seen loads of animals except monkeys loved the sound of the loud foot step from the background of the dinosaurs what a fantastic day out tired when we got back home will go again .

User

We took the private tour for the safari and had a fabulous driver called Clive. He took us very close to the animals and he was very knowledgeable and super friendly. It’s so sad to realise how many endangered species there are and wonderful to know that conservation and protection of these animals is a priority to WMSP. Keep up the good work. Great fun family day out

User

We loved our trip, we usually come at Xmas but thought we would try it in the summer. The safari was amazing we'll worth it to book their safari bus guide rather then going in your own car. They off road and go to all animals for you to feed and jump the que. All the other experience in park were amazing too, the animal encounters and sea lion show. My daughter lived the luaceets, feeding them with nector, she went in 15 times (£1.50) a tub but well worth it to see her interact with them. There is really something for anyone really worth a visit

User

We had our first visit to the Park last year and thoroughly enjoyed it...it was fantastic to see Lions, Elephants, Tigers, Rhino's, Giraffes etc just roaming around freely within a few feet of you, while you're sat in your car...lovely to be able to get to feed some of the animals too..the Zebras are so friendly and walk up to you for a fuss. We loved it so much, we are coming back for another visit this weekend. Can't wait!! ❤❤

User

We came on Saturday and again yesterday. Absolutely love the place. Great value for money. The drive through safari is awesome and there's lots of fun to be had on the rides. We will definitely be taking full advantage of our annual passes.

User

Took my 9 year old granddaughter yesterday. She told me it was the best place ever. We loved the safari. All the animals looked so well cared for. Afterwards we went to the sealion show which was brilliant and then onto the fair . Lots of rides to choose from without spoiling the atmosphere. Staff really polite and friendly. Will definitely be revisiting.

User

Our first visit but it won't be our last! From the lady on the front gate to Jade who gave us our wristbands to Clive who drove our safari tour, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We decided to do a later tour so headed for the theme park first, best plan as there were no queues for the rides. My girls ran around and tried everything two or three times.

Our Safari Tour was fantastic. Clive was a star, with lots of information and some off the track photo opportunities. We got to see animals closer than if we drove through and discovered more than we thought possible. Great jokes and knowledge of the parks animals.

My son loved feeding the giraffes and I loved watching him have no fear of these gentle giants!

Thank you for an amazing experience, well worth the money. We will be back later in the year.

User

It's really worth it, nice park, lots of beautiful animals, amazing rides on carrocels, roller coasters, lots of fun for kids of all ages. Don't think the price is to expensive if you try everything. The only down side is the waiting time during the safari ride, to much time lost waiting for gates to open. Everything else I would recommend, and definitely going back again.

User

I'm not usually the reviewer type of person, but for this, i'll make an exception, I've been here twice before, enjoyed it thoughrally but this time was incredible to say the very least, As a huge animal fan seeing so many species up close is a phenomenal experience and that's in the main park itself! The Safari is amazing (baring when you get people trying to ram past you) Giving you a view of a variety of species. I can't speak highly enough of the staff, really fun people you can sit and have a chat with like you'd known them for years, really approachable and understanding, I for one ended up spending what felt like an hour in the lemur enclosure alone just chatting to some of the staff! I would seriously reccomend this to everyone as it really has all the pieces! Rides, A Safari, Arcades, Hands on experiences. The list continues. Massive Thanks to everyone there for such an enjoyable day!

User

I have not long got home from a day out with my family. The weather was lovely, a lion walked directly in front of our car, we fed the animals and had a fabulous day. However, what made our day was Paul, the operator of kong. He was such a lovely and pleasant person. He always said hello and had a conversation with myself, my partner and our daughter. It's not just the attractions that make somewhere enjoyable . . . it's the staff. If there were more staff like Paul everyone's experience at the park would be awesome!! My family and I will be returning again before the summer holidays are over and we just wanted to say that we had a lovely day and that Paul is an asset to your business.

User

First time visitor but will be back. Very clean everywhere with immaculate facilities. All the animals were very accommodating when it came to photos. (lol) Finally the Burgers are amazing from the burger outlet. They were the most tastiest, well presented I've ever had at any theme park or other facility. All staff were polite, friendly and approachable all the time despite the 30 degrees + temperature.

User

Fantastic day out, well worth every penny and the theme park is great. Only downfall is that you have to pay again to get on any rides which can make the day quite expensive but all in all it’s great !!

User

Brilliant family day out!!! Visited the Safari Park today with my 22 month old son....so close the the animals but we always felt safe. The park was well maintained and the staff were very friendly....we will definitely be returning again!

User

Absolutely loved it. Wasn’t busy at all and my children (4 and 12) were both entertained. Great selection of food as well as things to do. Not just a safari park with all the great animals, lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, baby zebra and so much more. Definitely coming back very soon.

User

Absolutely loved it, we went to the theme park 1st and did quite a few rides and then visited the African lads before having lunch at the burger place. Amazed by the hippo’s who were sunbathing and playing, before visiting the aquarium, reptile house and bat cave before watching the sea lion show and visiting the ice age and dinosaurs park . Then back into the theme park for the bigger rides. Eventually we went into the safari, it took us about 3 hours to go round and was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had, seeing and interacting with the animals was amazing. Loved the giraffes they are gentle giants. Would definitely recommend and will go back, I’ll be telling everyone back in Sheffield when we go back how fantastic this place is. Also I’m not sure what your requirement policy is but I was very impressed with the number of disabled workers there, all we met were amazing and helpful and I think it’s a fantastic opportunity you give to people.

User

2 parts of my family (1 from the North and 1 from the South) meet up here every year.

We always enjoy the Dinosaur display and now it's even better with the addition of the Ice Age area.

The fun park area is a little basic for some but that appeals to us as we can allow the kids to wonder as they please and go on the rides on their own and they love that freedom. Us parents love the rides too although I couldn't bring myself to go on Venom again this year (throat still hurts from screaming last year).

An added bonus is that we have never had to queue more than 10 minutes for the rides even at busy times.

The Safari Park is always enjoyable too and this year we had the pleasure of seeing the new born Zebra.

Staff are always friendly too.

User

Had a great day at the park with our granddaughters yesterday. The drive through was excellent as all the animals were near the road. The Amusement Park rides were excellent, especially the White Water Raft and the log Flume- we all got very wet! The Park is very well run and the staff are so friendly and efficient. My only comment for improvement would be a sepearate desk for prepaid tickets to avoid delay in entering the Park. Thank you for a great day out, would definitely recommend to friends.

User

The Safari did not disappoint as always. Even the rhinos were roaming loose! The giraffes were a big hit as always. The only huge disappointment was the height restriction on the rides. My very sensible 5 year old had to be supervised just to go in the carousel which she’s can go on by herself everywhere else we go. Was quite upsetting for her

User

I went with my sons disability charity yesterday. I have a 14 year old with severe learning disabilities and an autistic 4 year old .

When we arrived the Safari was extremely busy so we decided to head straight for the fair as my 14 & 4 year olds struggle with queuing. Meltdown no 1 of the day was because the children’s wrist bands were pink and my 4 year old wanted a green one (adults one). My partner went to the ticket booth and explained the situation to the lady who was very understanding and said it was fine. She wrote some initials on my sons green wrist band and said that she was going to radio all the fair staff to let them know.

My partner took my son on 2 rides with no problem then I went to take my 2 year old daughter on the fire engines. The man operating it looked straight at my pink wristband and said “Why are you wearing a pink band”?

I explained to him that my son was autistic and wanted to wear a green band so he had mine on and I had his . He glared at me and said “well I can’t let you on “ I asked why and he replied “ because you have the wrong colour wrist band on!”

I told him that I had taken my daughter on 2 rides already and had no issues. He then said “You have to wear the correct wristband, it’s policu “

I told him that my partner had already cleared this issue out with the lady on the ticket booth and that she had radioed all staff informing them . He then asked where my son was . I told him “On a ride with his dad “ he then said that he needed to see that my son was in fact wearing my green band ! My partner and son had finished their ride nybthis time and came over to see what was going on . We showed him the green band with GW on (that lady at ticket booth had written on just 20 minuets precious) and my partner again relayed that all staff should’ve been notified and there wouldn’t be a problem!

He then very reluctantly allowed me and my daughter on the ride . He was a total jobs worth!

We then took the children to an under 5’s sensory play area (Boj Giggly Park). We were there literally 5 minuets when my 5 year old started screaming. He had climbed to the top of a hill that was supposed to be a mouses house so myself and my partner walked around to the other side thinking he was going to come down the other side.

He had actually copied some much older boys (around 8-9) rolling down the hill and as he is only partially verbal couldn’t fully explain what he had done .

We took him to first aid where a lovely first response man bandaged his arm up. During this process his arm started to swell so the first responses advised that we take him to A&E . He was even kind enough to call the local A&E to see how long the wait was .

It was a minimum 3 hour wait so we decided that my partner wound take our son to our local hospital which is a 2 hour drive and I would stay with our other 4 children as we had only been there an hour and half .

At 4 pm my partner called to tell me that our sons wrist was broken and was asking for me , so we quickly headed back to the car so we could go around the Safari . We missed the dinosaurs, ice age , bats and sea lions , and didn’t have the time to enjoy the Safari as I wanted to get home to my son .

I stopped at the information office before leaving and asked if I could possibly have a free return ticket as my partner and son had to leave not long after we arrived and the rest of us didn’t enjoy the day or see everything we wanted as we were worried about my son and left much earlier than we originally planned.

The girl asked if I had come with a group and I replied yes . She immediately said “ You can’t have a return ticket if you care with a group “

I explained what had happened with my son and that on the advice of their first response team my partner had to leave not long after arriving and that just because I had come with a disabled charity , I had still paid a lot of money to go . She said she would have a word with someone then disappeared into a back room . She was literally 10-20 seconds and came out and said “sorry I can’t help you “!

I didn’t have the time or energy to argue with her as the kids were beeping the car horn and I’d already encountered a rude , ignorant member of staff that day !

Thankfully my son is ok which is the most important thing, but now we’re all home safe and I’ve had time to evaluate the situation I’m extremely angry at how I was treated and the poor customer service!

I have been on the website which states absolutely nothing about not being able to get a free return pass due to going with a group ! So I was also lied to !

Because all of the children were looking so forward to the trip yesterday, and having had positive experiences with past visits I booked up last week for all of us plus my niece and nephew and granddaughter to return for the Christmas Santa Safari which cost me £175!

Tickets are non refundable but I’m already dreading this trip due to yesterday’s awful experience 😡
