No matter how much fun you might have with a bonfire tonight, make sure you stay safe.
🔥 Have a hose or bucket of water standing by 🔥 Keep fire well away from fences and trees 🔥 Don't use petrol or put other flammable items on it.
... If it gets out of control, dial 999.

If you're using fireworks at home, please read ALL safety and proper use guidance on the boxes. Fireworks can be amazing to look at, but used improperly can be lethal.
Always follow manufacturers instructions, and only use safety standard approved items.

User

Going to organised fireworks displays is much safer than trying to do it yourself at home!
Here's a top guide to where you can go to see them in the Midlands this year! http://wmfs.link/wngqK

Do you have some petrifyingly paranormal pumpkins this year?!
If you do use candles in them make sure you blow them out! Even better, use small LED lights instead!
... Whatever you're doing, we wish you a Happy Halloween, from all of us at West Midlands Fire Service

With spooks and ghouls, witches and zombies all around, it's a frightening time... but nothing is more terrifying that a home without a SMOKE ALARM!
Make sure you have one fitted and test it regularly!

User

The 'trick' is to test once a week! The 'treat' is knowing your smoke alarm can keep you and your family safe!

If you're using sparklers, either to spice up your Halloween or in the run-up to bonfire night, make sure you #sparklesafely and never leave children unattended with sparklers!

Would like to say a big thanks to the crew at erdington fire station for being soo warm and welcoming to my little girl. She'd spent weeks trying to spot a fire engine and asked to see one everyday. We finally did (and I'm sure they were on their break) but they jumped out to greet her then let her sit in the drivers seat. She was sooo excited she shook and has spent forever talking about it and now pretends she's a firefighter. Thanks for inspiring her and making a very simple wish come true. Just a little act of kindness, that's made her month. : )

These guys and gals saved my life back in the late 1990's.. Trapped in an upstairs flat, the flat below was well ablaze...

On my escape I fell down the smoke clogged stairs... Firefighters grabbed me and carried me outside...

Got a nice scar on my leg as a souvenir.

All I can say is Thanks for that day, and for the bravery of your team....X

User

The car garage right next to my office just had a huge fire...in fact, your crews are still there. Just wanted to say how totally in awe I am of the job that you do. Lots of car engines popping and rafters falling down and still you continued to fight. The bravery and stamina of the fire fighters there was truly amazing. Feel very lucky to have you looking out for us! x

User

Thank you west midlands fire service for putting out the fire in my horses field last night . It was his hay and shelter that caught fire , probably from a firework . Luckily he is ok but people let of these explosions with no thought of where they are landing !

User

Thank you to the men that came out to me last night to rescue my trapped 2.5 year old from her room! The door handle jammed and i couldn't get into her room! The men were lovely and even managed not to wake her! Thank you xxxx

User

Thank you so much to Aston Green watch who came to do a school visit today. All of the crew interacted so well with the children. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt so much

User

Only just found your show! Awesome work guys! especially helping the homeless.

Met three fire fighters in a shop car park this morning from Hay Mills station. My lad was looking at their truck and each of them were amazing, talking to my son. It's the nice little touches from professional heroes like these that go a long way.

Only downside is he now won't stop talking about it and I'm sure I've an afternoon of watching Fireman Sam & Norman bloody Price.

User

Just want to say a massive thank you on behalf of me and my family to West Midlands Fire Service for rescuing our dog today. You were so quick to respond, very friendly and you saved one of our furry family members - we just can't thank you enough!

User

I would like to say a big huge thank you to the lovely fireman and firewoman who came and rescued my daughter after she got her leg caught in the baby gate. We tried everything to release her leg but nothing seemed to work. In the end we made a phone call to the local fire service and within minutes they were at our home address. They made us feel at ease with their lovely friendly and gentle nature . In the commotion we forgot to ask for your names so that my little girl and I could thank you properly. What a fantastic job you guys are doing - even in this snowy weather!!! Thank you so much

User

I would just like to say a huge thank you to West Midlands fire service, Canley Station Green Watch. The guys were here in a matter of minutes & reassured me that I had made the right decision to call them! Today my 15 month old was locked in my car with no ventilation. Between WMFS & Audi Assist we got my baby out of the car. The guys even started to try & entertain my son when he became distressed. I can't thank you guys enough! Good job

User

I am a support worker for a deaf man. Half hour ago two of Birmingham's finest firemen came to install flashing smoke alarms & to my pleasant surprise both men know sign language and were able to communicate with the resident. Its fantastic the WMFS recognise the importance of their staff being able to communicate with deaf people. A special thanks to Alan & Joe from Birmingham & Kings Norton

User

Had a garden fire last night from what I know from my family the fire rescuers were on time and very good with my family. Great work and punctual effort! Keep it up west midlands fire service! Thank you so much for putting out the fire. You are all true hero's!

First off, my thanks for all the great work you do. I don't believe it's said enough to the Fire Service who, in every instance I've seen them and worked with them, they have have always done outstanding work for the people they serve.

More to the point however, I've been past several Fire Stations and have noticed that you still have watch towers. In the age of Airwave, 4G and GPS, what are they used for now?

User

A massive thank you to the staff on shift at Billesley fire station this morning. Had a car accident right outside the station this morning and they took a very emotional mess inside to calm and relax and were so lovely and accommodating! They checked my car over and made sure I could drive it home first also. Massive massive help and very much appreciated it!

User

A huge thank you to the officers from Canley Fire Station who came out so promptly to sort out the problem with our hearing impaired smoke alarm system. We really appreciate your help with this and I would also like to say how pleasant and efficient you all were.
