Lovely day’s play of AC Croquet in a Friendly Competition against The Bears Croquet Club from Cirencester. The weather was kind to us and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Unfortunately we lost overall but gave them a good match. Thanks to Denise and her team for a lovely lunch. And also to Martin who played a blinder in setting up and packing away the hoops etc.

Congratulations to Ken who beat both Christine and Jon to win our informal Winterdyne Cup AC singles challenge at the weekend, winning 26/7 and 26/1. And that after seeing his handicap reduce from 12 to 11.

Our Golf Croquet team had another successful day, playing at Weston-super-Mare Croquet Club in the Handicap League. Overall we won 12 games to 8. Thanks to our hosts for their kind hospitality.

The AC Federation Team played Cheltenham Croquet Club. The team were Chris and Christine W, Don and Ken. We played the best of 7 games winning the day 6/1. Particular mention should be made of Don who won his singles game pegging out early and winning also a doubles partnering Chris W. Well done Team for a spectacular victory played out on lawns best described as divine!

Congratulations to Rose and Luke who won the final of our Gladwin Trophy Association Croquet handicap doubles competition today.

Our Golf Croquet team had a very successful day at Nailsea & District Croquet Club winning our Handicap League game 13-7. Many thanks to all at Nailsea for their superb hospitality and the opportunity to play on their lovely lawns.

While our Golf Croquet team was playing their rescheduled game at Nailsea, our Association Croquet team was in action at Kington Langley Croquet Club.
We played one doubles and two singles in the morning and, following an excellent lunch, four singles in the afternoon, overall narrowly losing 3-4 (Chris W, David and Ken winning the afternoon singles).
It was a hard fought day with close results in very warm conditions as the day went on. The new lawns were mostly very flat and should be excellent in a couple of years’ time.

The lawns were busy again at our regular Tuesday Golf Croquet roll-up.

Congratulations to Luke and Rose who beat Ken and Chris in the second semifinal of the Gladwin Trophy AC handicap doubles - and now go on to play Jon and Peter in the final.

Contratulations to Barbara (shown here running a hoop), who won todays Allardyce Cup association croquet handicap singles, with two wins and one draw out of the three games played. Well done to Luke and Chris who had two wins each - and particularly to Ken who additionally scored the most hoops over the three games. It was great to see so many experienced and novice AC players on the lawns.

Open Committee Meeting went well with a good attendance. Lots of issues discussed and decisions made. Short GC Roll Up after the meeting which was enjoyed by all who stayed for a game.

Chris Dunn and Martin repositioned the hoops on both lawns this afternoon. The previous hoop holes were filled with soil and grass seed so that they will level off and regrow to even up the lawns without rabbit runs. They worked very hard for 3 hours until both lawns were completely finished. Well done lads! I’m sure everyone will find the result very pleasing when next playing on the lawns.

The Club held its annual Golf Croquet Evening Tournament (handicap doubles) on midsummers evening. It proved to be a very sociable but competitive evening, which was won by Robin and Mary. Well done to them.

Today saw our Association Croquet team take on Dyfrynn CC in a home fixture, which we decisively won. Well done to the team.

Our Association Croquet league team visited Swindon CC today. In weather that varied between bright sunshine and heavy showers, we unfortunatly lost overall - but it was great to play on their lovely lawns.
