Unicorns are as popular as ever!! And when a special little girl wants a unicorn with wings cake...we deliver! This was a real humdinger of a cake, standing 4 chocolate sponges high with a rich buttercream filling and sealed with chocolate ganache. All covered in fondant with colourful buttercream swirls. All finished off with sprinkles galore! The wings were edible too and delicately coloured in pastel shades. The little lady herself is in one of the pics (thanks Charlotte for giving her permission) and she was super happy with her cake and had a fabulous day! π
This cake was made to celebrate a very special 90th birthday. Chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream for the main cake. Personalised with a handmade cake topper with the birthday girl riding her mobility scooter! What made it all the more fun was to see her reaction as she was wearing lilac today coincidentally matching her 'mini me' on the cake! π In addition to the main cake there were 24 cupcakes in either vanilla or chocolate sponge all decorated and looking scrumptious! Happy Birthday Dot from us all x π
Well it has been the first week back at school for children and well done to all for starting their new classes and meeting all their new teachers. Now time to relax and enjoy a weekend treat. π

This cake is definitely one for chocolate lovers! Three chocolate sponges with chocolate buttercream all encased in a rich chocolate ganache. Sugarpaste flowers and starburst hearts to decorate. Made for a 50th birthday. Enjoy! π #fabulousat50
An 18th birthday cake with a messy bedroom theme. All madagascan vanilla sponge with buttercream and strawberry conserve. Loving my new 'toy' the edible ink printer for printing the CD cases and drinks can labels.π

Been learning the art of ganaching a cake today...it can get a bit messy working with melted chocolate but as you can see the final results are super sharp edges to your cake! Gave it a quick dusting of edible gold glitter at the end... π. Anyone for chocolate cake! ππ°
This two tier cake was made to celebrate the 70th birthday of a lovely lady. The birthday girl had chosen the theme for her party as teacups of all shapes, sizes and designs. This cake was to form the centrepiece with an additional 24 mini cupcakes to be put into mini teacups around the cake on the day. The mini cupcakes were vanilla and chocolate sponges decorated with pretty flowers made out of fondant and sugarpaste. They were just a mouthful as you can see from the pic sh...owing the comparison with a regular cupcake! The brief was very clear; the bottom tier is an Irish whiskey infused fruit cake which had matured nicely. It was covered in marzipan and then fondant icing. The top tier was a madagascan vanilla sponge with buttercream and strawberry conserve and also covered in fondant. An array of colours and flowers adorned the very simply designed cake. The teacup on top was the customer's who asked that the design be replicated and therefore I hand painted the design around the cake board. I've loved making this cake and the different flowers etc...some didn't make the final grade as I made plenty for choice. The customer's reaction was wonderful saying it was "fabulous" and just what she wanted. Happy 70th Jackie from Bantry Bakes x π

A Rapunzel themed cake for a very special little girl's 5th birthday. This was rich chocolate sponge with delicious chocolate buttercream. I particularly loved the lilac colourway on this one. Pictures don't really capture the golden edible glitter throughout her very long hair giving it a little sparkle. Happy birthday Katie from Bantry Bakes x π

It's been busy at Bantry Bakes HQ recently so it's been a few weeks since the last post. The cakes seen here were ordered by a customer who has previously been to Bantry Bakes, so it's always nice to have returning customers #checkoutgruffalocake2017 This year the twins were turning 3yrs old and individual cakes were requested to reflect their individual personalities and likes. So for little Nancy it was unicorns, sparkles and glitter. For little Lennon it was a bit more of... a challenge as I was asked to make a model of his favourite toy called Squashy Dog that he takes everywhere...no problem I hear you say, well the little toy had seen better days...a true sign of a much loved toy! I've attached the picture of what he looks like now and so the little fondant reproduction was aimed at what it looked like originally... Anyway, proof is always in the pudding and I waited to hear whether the twins were happy with their cakes on their big day... I was thrilled (and relieved!) to hear they both loved them and furthermore Lennon recognised Squashy Dog and was a very happy boy!! This was a wonderful commission to do. A joint birthday for Graham & Judith who love spending time in their garden...their ages are on the flower pots!! This cake was a chocolate sponge with rich chocolate buttercream. Many happy returns to a lovely couple from Bantry Bakes x
Was lucky enough to be given Debbie's number by a family friend , Debbie made my partner Julie the most amazing 50th birthday cake , just to say a big thank you for all you hard work Debbie our family loved it
This year my parents celebrated their 70th and 75th birthdays and as part of the celebrations, we asked Bantry Bakes to make them a cake. We gave Debbie a fairly open brief detailing our requirements and to say we were impressed with her work is an understatement. She is a very talented lady!
From contacting her initially to check on availability through to the final stages of checking the design and collecting the cake, Debbie kept us fully up to date with her progress and was able to answer all of our queries in a prompt timeframe.
The cake was decorated to a very high standard and both my parents and family didnβt really want to cut the cake as it was just perfect! The cake itself was fresh and you could tell that it had been made with high quality ingredients too.
We would highly recommend Bantry Bakes and will definitely be using them to make other celebratory cakes in the future.
Thankyou Debbie for the wonderful cake for my dads 60th! Absolutely brilliant and can't wait to tuck in to it tomorrow!
