A couple of cracking new beers have just hit the bar

we celebrating my familys mum birthday wat night playin mixture of music the drinks not badly in price staff was nice no trouble happy crowd x

We did the huddersfield to Manchester ale trail yesterday and I must say this was one of my favourites. A great selection of beers and ciders amd loads of gins! Could've happily stayed there all day!!!!

Very good pub in terms of decor and atmosphere. Very good choice of cask Ale and craft beer, I'd recommend the Sanda Black IPA. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Two friends and myself spent Saturday at the Sportsman's IPA festival. Every beer was of the finest quality and there were plenty of them. The atmosphere was friendly, as were the staff who were also helpful and knew their beers.

A really enjoyable day. Thanks John and all your staff.

This pub is the bollocks.. Beer selection was most excellent & the curried goat pie n peas was well lush! If am ever down the Huddersfield neck of the woods again i will defo revisit

Sportsmen is a great place if you want an old style pub not frills and almost spit and sawdust on floor.

Beer is always good and constantly changing, great atmosphere too.

Food is supposedly very good not tried myself but always looks and smells good.

One of the best pub nights I've had in years. The funk and soul DJs were on and were amazing! The real ales were mega! The bar staff were ace! Loved it!!

Huddersfield has always had great pubs but this is up there with the very best. Nothing but praise for it.

Great pub. A must when in Huddersfield. Excellent service, great ales and good food. We originally discovered the Sportsman after visiting the buffet bar on Staleybridge Station (sister pub). It is the latter than needs to up its game - our visit yesterday was disappointing.

Great pub, great beer (and range of). Great staff, Nice surroundings and live music on a regular basis.... What more could you ask for?

Great award winning traditional pub. Fantastic range of real ales craft beers and whiskeys reasonably priced. Nice food. They have some great live music here -always a great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Probably the best pub in town if not in Huddersfield.

Friendly staff, good beers and the pie... oh god... the pie... I have never had a better pie.

Excellent selection of real ales, totally blown away with the new Pie menu. I had the special, Cullen Skink, which was absolutely gorgeous. The staff are just lovely. Always the first stop on our Ale Trail.

Down from Tyneside for yesterday's match and we visited this pub on the advice of the local amongst our ranks. Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your pub - great choice of drink, lovely food (curried goat pie) and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you.

A top bar. Great beer (and always a really good range). Really friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere and some great live music events.

There are just too many reasons why I love this place.

The food is always fabulous. The beer is always great. The staff are always lovely. The place is always clean. They allow us to book an area of the pub and draft in extra staff when we warn them in advance we are arriving en masse.



It's just a fabulous place! Thank you!



I'm not giving you 5*s this time because I did overhear a fellow punter comment that the gents toilets needed attention this time, so this gives you something to look at sorting to make the place even better.

Staff were top notch. Flew over from Ireland for Huddersfield v man city game and staff got me something to eat before kitchen opened.

Just spent Easter in West Yorkshire & had a few Timothy Taylors in the Sportsman plus tried one of their own made pies on Easter Monday yum yum.
