If you hadn't heard yet, Sunday 13th January sees Charlie work his last shift at Brewbar Espresso. He's waxing lyrical about becoming a real life proper bona fide musician or some other such rubbish. We don't really believe him but at least it means the grumpy git won't scare all of our customers off any more with his none-more-black wardrobe and thousand yard stare....
Anyway, to celebrate, we thought we'd have one of those gig things, and we've invited the absolutely blin...king marvellous HERONS to come and join in the fun.
Herons! play a kind of literary alternative music that combines influences from punk, folk, classical, jazz and good old fashioned pop. Herons! have roots in New York, Dublin, and Gloucestershire, and combine electric guitars, bass & drums with saxophone, clarinet, classical guitar and intimate vocal harmonies. Their debut album So Long! was released independently in 2011. It is available for download on Bandcamp, iTunes, CD Baby, Spotify and Amazon. Herons! are currently recording their second album, Some Things Run Wild, due for release later this year.
And before them we'll have that grumpy git playing some of his songs that he does so enthusiastically, and you know how he likes to cover Jim Reeves and Edith Piaf when you get him going....

We're super-thrilled to be inviting the awesome Gary Stewart to come and sing some of his beautiful tunes for us at Brewbar Espresso.
Gary hosts Oporto's long established 'Gaslight Club'; a regular Monday night slot designed to echo the 60s Greenwich Village scene, and Gary has showcased hundreds upon hundreds of unique artists during his time there. We thought it would only be right to let somebody else do the hosting for a change and showcase what is truly one of Leeds' ...most respected talents. Expect haunting vocals, masterful lyricism, and finger-picking so slick the guy's touch-typing skills must be unbelievable...

Starting on August 5th, we'll be presenting you some of the finest unplugged talents this fair land has to offer every first Sunday of the month.
Let's face it, busking on the street in England can be a pretty rough job at the best of times given our schizophrenic weather and all-too-keen-to-move-you-along boys (and girls) in blue. So we thought, why not bring the poor souls inside and give them a cup of our oh-so-delicious coffee?!
All of the artists at INDOOR BUSKING will ...perform completely unplugged, and we'll have a donations pot on the counter where you can leave a tip for listening to their lovely noise. We will, of course, be serving our oh-so-delicious coffee (and tea) and lunch and stuff as per usual. We might even put on some specials and guest coffees and cool stuff like that to make it more fun.

So there's this Fashion Show thang going on at Leeds Corn Exchange on Thursday April 19th. It's for Cancer Research and therefore can only be a good thing. Some of the organisers have told us there'll be lots of attractive people and hand massages and stuff going down. Sounds pretty smart. You should go! Tickets available from the Corn Exchange shops. Sweet.
