Staff very helpfull . Good selection of good quality food for breakfast .And carvery very good again. With a good selection and choice of good quality food

Had a great time in here on the 17/11/17 for my birthday, staff was very friendly, food was great and they even fetched my birthday cake out and sung happy birthday. Went in again on the 18/11/17 food again was nice. Breakfast is great couldn't eat it all though was full up from the dinners the night before. Would go again. �

First time today me and my partner went for lunch have to say we loved it staff were so friendly the manager was laughing and having a joke with us the food was out of this world i had the lamb shank creamy mash green beans rich mint gravy other half had smothered chicken... so pleased very reasonable prices will def be going back there :)

It was Mothers Day and due to late numbers in our party confirming due to work commitments in the family we were unable to book a table in advance as anyone would do on a peak day. We had never been to the Turnpike before but decided to go and take our chances and had got it into our minds we would be waiting up to at least an hour for a table. We were greeted at the door by a very nice man about 12:45, he checked his bookings sheet and gave us table 19 for three immediately which amazed us but pleased us greatly.

It was busy and most of the tables were taken already the speed of service at the bar was fine we didn't have to wait above five minutes to be served.

The food queue for the carvery was a bit silly though. It was next to the bar and right in front of the main doors. This caused a bit of a problem with some people getting in the food queue when they wanted the bar and vise versa.

The people being shown to their tables where blocked with the queues.

Only one chef was serving on the carvery but he did a good job at trying to keep the queue down and he even helped someone from the kitchen who asked him a question.

The food was very tasty and hot. I was a bit put out that we had to purchase a two course carvery because it was Mothers Day as I'm over sixty I can not eat a large meal never mind two courses so the dessert was wasted for me.

The toilets were very clean and smelt fresh.

The waitress doing the tables worked quickly and looked efficient.

Over all would I go again and recommend the Turnpike in Yorkshire yes I would.

Staff on duty were lovely but we ordered 2 salad bowls with chicken xtra but when meal came the chicken didn't look cooked enough to me the waitress took back we did eat some salad I asked for refund of the chicken only but the manager did refund the whole meal for us it won't put me off going back there as it's good for kids meals and play area.

Very disappointed tonight having been here several times this was by far the worst.. ordered our food at 17:26 waited 20 minutes for starters and then they brought us the wrong ones.. 1hour and 10 mins i had to go and ask where our main coarse was.. people came in after us and had eaten and left.. whilst we were eating our main coarse 4 of the most foul mouthed drivers sat next to us and did nothing but swear and discuss about how women in short skirts were bending over not the kind of topics you want to hear when you’re having a meal.. got our deserts almost 2 hours after ordering overall not the best experience tonight... staff were miserable some of which i have not seen before some of them were saying they wanted to go home as they had had enough and they had only just started their shift.....

Probably the worst experience I have had in the 10 years of going there. I paid for my 2 grandchildren to play and bought socks as it's states they are needed. There were children in there without socks, with shoes on and no wrist band. Outside in the play area where it says no smoking, there were people smoking and it wasn't a one off as there were butt ends all over. Dinner was actually ok but when it came to pudding it fell down, kids doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauce got left because it was a solider of toffee goo that wasn't dippable at all and the girls don't like toffee, caramel apple Betty with ice cream came with custard. The lady in the children's zone was lovely but just too busy with very little help.

I think I will leave it a while before I go back. Smoking in a children's play area! Not for me thankyou!!

Some staff members in particular were reluctant and slightly rude, because it was a quiet weeknight I overheard one of them say “I wish they would all just go home.” Referring to us both and the other family that were finishing meals. I understand since I have worked in hospitality that they cannot leave until customers leave, but it’s what you signed up for when you signed a contract. � my partner’s steak was medium well instead of medium rare but we hate to make a fuss and the lack of staff there anyway meant sending it back would have been pointless.

Then after retreating home I had horrible sickness and food poisoning.

I was sadly disappointed as family & friends have said many positive things about eating here.

Had to ask for every part of kids meals (starter, main & dessert). We had all you can eat fish deal. Sausages were inedible and had been there a long time as had all the mini pies. Ordered salted apple crumble, got caramel Betty and my cream was in a jug stuck to the side of it! So 🤷🏻‍♀️

Would give this place zero stars if that were possible. Came here yesterday for tea, me and my partner were regulars here but after this experience we will no longer be returning and will give our custom elsewhere. Yesterday (11/10/2017) was burger and hotdog night and we had both been looking forward to it all day as the food is usually so nice. We went around 6:30pm, paid for our food and drinks, to be waiting for the man behind the bar to give us our glasses for our drinks. After asking politely for our glasses, it wasn't until someone else mentioned it to the man serving that he finally gave us them, you would of thought we'd of asked for the earth. Not great service at all. The burger didn't even look like a burger, the bun was rock hard, and the meat itself did not taste like beef and not to mention it was flat cold. Everything tasted strange almost like it had been cooked a few days ago and reheated. Both of us only took one bite out of our food and left the lot because it wasn't even edible. As a loyal customer I have never felt so uncomfortable with the service I received yesterday and this experience has definitely put me off ever returning.

Went this evening, the food was lovely apart from the burger pie. It was over cooked and had to leave some of the pastry.

The service however was shocking. Although we didn't have to wait for a table, it took sooooo long for the food to come out.

We did opt for desserts afterwards, however once we'd waited half an hour, watched the restaurant empty, watched the waitresses clean up and prepare everything for breakfast the following morning, we thought enough was enough and went to the bar to ask for a refund. Although the manager did go through to the kitchen to see what the problem was, he never actually explained to us.

I did get the refund, however I thought there may be a little compensation/offer but didn't even get that!

We haven't been to the Turnpike for a number of years and won't bother to go ever again.

If you want a decent Brewers Fayre, I would suggest Goole, they're so much better.

I ordered a medium rare steak meal we waited ages for the starter and then my hubby went for the carvery he were half way through his meal and I had to go ask the manager where my meal were my hubby had nearly finished his meal before mine came very disappointed with the staff and service and will not be going again and did not order coffee and pudding which we were going to do

This was a treat meal for us as we do not go out often

We took our toddler here tonight to play on the soft play! Never again! Disgusting, Foul language coming from your customers right next to the toddler area!! And what does your staff member do?! Join in and laugh!! This place is so so rough it's unreal! As soon as I walked in I pretty much walked straight back out!! To all the decent parents with kids AVOID this place!!

We ordered the Cheesy Chic & Cluc & Ale burgers. The Cheesy chic was really dry with just a drop of dried up cheese sauce. The Cluc & Ale wasn't cooked properly at all. I've had this burger before & thought it was lovely but not this time. We waited over 35mims for our meals so we expected them to at least be cooked!

This has got to be the worst place I have been . The staff are so rude it’s unreal. I went to order starters after I said my first one the woman behind the bar said yep that it? I said. No there’s 3 more i need to say. After my second go of telling her she said right is that I I said no there’s 2 more I need to say then after my 3rd go of telling her she said right so that’s 4 prawns then I said no as I’d jus said 5 different starters. She huffed and I went onto mains and tried to tell her what we all wanted but she was in a mood by this point.

We had no cutelry at the table so we asked the waiter for some he said yes asif it was so much trouble to get them and when he brought them over he said here! I Which non of us was impressed by. I went to the bar for some drinks only to be ignored. The mains came and it’s was disgusting . No one could eat their food it was dry and stale but not one member of staff came to ask if the meal was okay or came over to clear the plates. I tried to complain but no members of staff.

Shocking!! Called in yesterday for some lunch at 12pm. Ordered 2 starters and 2 mains. Meanwhile two other couples have arrived, about 10 mins after us. By 12.50pm, still no good but yet one of the other couples were given there mains. After approching the waiter, asking why we hadn't received our starters, which was soup, but yet, he had just served the other couple there mains. He then dissapered off into the kitchen. After a short time, he came back out and said sorry... there going to be a 30min delay with our starters. As you can guess... we promptly left. The place wasn't even a quarter full.

Been twice now. First time it took 45mins after asking for kids desserts to come out. Was only a few tables with people at them. 2nd time again waited over 40mins for empty plates to be taken and desserts brought out. Had to ask a member of staff after she walked past several times. Brought desserts out and shoved them on the table without saying a word. Food was lovely shame about the very poor service on both occasions.

I went to the bar for some drinks only to be ignored. The mains came and it’s was disgusting . No one could eat their food it was dry and stale but not one member of staff came to ask if the meal was okay or came over to clear the plates. I tried to complain but no members of staff.

Shocking!! Called in yesterday for some lunch at 12pm. Ordered 2 starters and 2 mains. Meanwhile two other couples have arrived, about 10 mins after us. By 12.50pm, still no good but yet one of the other couples were given there mains. After approching the waiter, asking why we hadn't received our starters, which was soup, but yet, he had just served the other couple there mains. He then dissapered off into the kitchen. After a short time, he came back out and said sorry... there going to be a 30min delay with our starters. As you can guess... we promptly left. The place wasn't even a quarter full.

Was only a few tables with people at them. 2nd time again waited over 40mins for empty plates to be taken and desserts brought out. Had to ask a member of staff after she walked past several times. Brought desserts out and shoved them on the table without saying a word. Food was lovely shame about the very poor service on both occasions.

Had a great time in here on the 17/11/17 for my birthday, staff was very friendly, food was great and they even fetched my birthday cake out and sung happy birthday. Went in again on the 18/11/17 food again was nice. Breakfast is great couldn't eat it all though was full up from the dinners the night before. Would go again. �

First time today me and my partner went for lunch have to say we loved it staff were so friendly the manager was laughing and having a joke with us the food was out of this world i had the lamb shank creamy mash green beans rich mint gravy other half had smothered chicken... so pleased very reasonable prices will def be going back there :)

It was Mothers Day and due to late numbers in our party confirming due to work commitments in the family we were unable to book a table in advance as anyone would do on a peak day. We had never been to the Turnpike before but decided to go and take our chances and had got it into our minds we would be waiting up to at least an hour for a table. We were greeted at the door by a very nice man about 12:45, he checked his bookings sheet and gave us table 19 for three immediately which amazed us but pleased us greatly.

It was busy and most of the tables were taken already the speed of service at the bar was fine we didn't have to wait above five minutes to be served.

The food queue for the carvery was a bit silly though. It was next to the bar and right in front of the main doors. This caused a bit of a problem with some people getting in the food queue when they wanted the bar and vise versa.

The people being shown to their tables where blocked with the queues.

Only one chef was serving on the carvery but he did a good job at trying to keep the queue down and he even helped someone from the kitchen who asked him a question.

The food was very tasty and hot. I was a bit put out that we had to purchase a two course carvery because it was Mothers Day as I'm over sixty I can not eat a large meal never mind two courses so the dessert was wasted for me.

The toilets were very clean and smelt fresh.

The waitress doing the tables worked quickly and looked efficient.

Over all would I go again and recommend the Turnpike in Yorkshire yes I would.

Staff on duty were lovely but we ordered 2 salad bowls with chicken xtra but when meal came the chicken didn't look cooked enough to me the waitress took back we did eat some salad I asked for refund of the chicken only but the manager did refund the whole meal for us it won't put me off going back there as it's good for kids meals and play area.

Very disappointed tonight having been here several times this was by far the worst.. ordered our food at 17:26 waited 20 minutes for starters and then they brought us the wrong ones.. 1hour and 10 mins i had to go and ask where our main coarse was.. people came in after us and had eaten and left.. whilst we were eating our main coarse 4 of the most foul mouthed drivers sat next to us and did nothing but swear and discuss about how women in short skirts were bending over not the kind of topics you want to hear when you’re having a meal.. got our deserts almost 2 hours after ordering overall not the best experience tonight... staff were miserable some of which i have not seen before some of them were saying they wanted to go home as they had had enough and they had only just started their shift.....

There were children in there without socks, with shoes on and no wrist band. Dinner was actually ok but when it came to pudding it fell down, kids doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauce got left because it was a solider of toffee goo that wasn't dippable at all and the girls don't like toffee, caramel apple Betty with ice cream came with custard. The lady in the children's zone was lovely but just too busy with very little help.

I think I will leave it a while before I go back. Smoking in a children's play area! Not for me thankyou!!

I understand since I have worked in hospitality that they cannot leave until customers leave, but it’s what you signed up for when you signed a contract. � my partner’s steak was medium well instead of medium rare but we hate to make a fuss and the lack of staff there anyway meant sending it back would have been pointless.

Then after retreating home I had horrible sickness and food poisoning.

I was sadly disappointed as family & friends have said many positive things about eating here.

Had to ask for every part of kids meals (starter, main & dessert). We had all you can eat fish deal. Sausages were inedible and had been there a long time as had all the mini pies. Ordered salted apple crumble, got caramel Betty and my cream was in a jug stuck to the side of it! So 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everything tasted strange almost like it had been cooked a few days ago and reheated. Both of us only took one bite out of our food and left the lot because it wasn't even edible. As a loyal customer I have never felt so uncomfortable with the service I received yesterday and this experience has definitely put me off ever returning.

Went this evening, the food was lovely apart from the burger pie. It was over cooked and had to leave some of the pastry.

We did opt for desserts afterwards, however once we'd waited half an hour, watched the restaurant empty, watched the waitresses clean up and prepare everything for breakfast the following morning, we thought enough was enough and went to the bar to ask for a refund. Although the manager did go through to the kitchen to see what the problem was, he never actually explained to us.

I did get the refund, however I thought there may be a little compensation/offer but didn't even get that!

We haven't been to the Turnpike for a number of years and won't bother to go ever again.

If you want a decent Brewers Fayre, I would suggest Goole, they're so much better.

We took our toddler here tonight to play on the soft play! Never again! Disgusting, Foul language coming from your customers right next to the toddler area!! And what does your staff member do?! Join in and laugh!! This place is so so rough it's unreal! As soon as I walked in I pretty much walked straight back out!! To all the decent parents with kids AVOID this place!!

We ordered the Cheesy Chic & Cluc & Ale burgers. The Cheesy chic was really dry with just a drop of dried up cheese sauce. The Cluc & Ale wasn't cooked properly at all. I've had this burger before & thought it was lovely but not this time. We waited over 35mims for our meals so we expected them to at least be cooked!
