New Year, New People.
Cohen Cramer solicitors start the new year with the appointment of a new Managing Director.
Emma Mason who joined the practice as a Trainee Solicitor over 19 years ago, has stepped into the role previously held by Simon Baskind on the 1st of January.
... Simon, who had been with the practice since 1995 and retired at the end of last year, said “I think you get to instinctively know when it’s time to go, and that time often is promoted when the right successor comes along. That is exactly what has happened to us in relation to Emma. It is definitely her time in the sun.”
Other movements at the practice include the appointment of Mike Massen and David Hall as directors and the addition of Michael O'Garra, Kristen O’Garra and Vanda Haunch to form one of the largest criminal law departments in the county.
Richard Manning has also joined the practice to deal with high-value matrimonial matters.

Cohen Cramer is pleased to announce that Simon on the Streets is our charity of the year for 2019. Offering outreach support to the homeless of Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield they offer invaluable help and support to some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
Thanks to Fahad for coming to see us this morning to explain the full ins and outs of the charity and how we can help them in the coming months.

Congrats to Kevin Ripley who has attained Criminal Advocacy Rights, following the successful completion of becoming a Fellow Chartered Legal Executive.
This allows him to represent clients at the Magistrates Court and appeal from the Magistrates Court to the Crown Court.
All this AND an ironman!

Congrats to Billy Yu who recently qualified as Advanced First Aider with the St John Ambulance. As such he is qualified and authorised to deal with oxygen therapy, analgesia gas administration and spinal management as well as all the regular medical skills.

I haven’t done anything like this for decades so tonight a large group of us are taking part in a Twilight walk to raise awareness and funds for The Brain Tumour Charity. It’s a 10km walk - we realise it’s not the furthest anyone’s walked (it’s not even the furthest I’ve walked!), but it’s to raise awareness. The walk is all inclusive for wheelchairs, children and people who are suffering f...rom or going through treatment for a brain tumour to be able to take part too.
A few years ago one of my close friends, Lucy Stead gave up a good career in marketing to study for a PhD in Bio-informatics at Leeds University. She is now Doctor Stead and works at Leeds University with her team trying to find a cure or lessen the effects of brain tumours. Lucy’s department receive no funding from the government so, alongside her day job, Lucy has to go in “Dragons Den-style” to businesses to continually raise funds to run their ongoing research.
The walk will involve me attempting to walk past several pubs on a Friday night so surely that’s worth any pennies you can spare 

Late news just in: our in-house Iron Man @kevin ripley took 2 mins off his PB in the Pontefract half marathon last weekend while raising money for Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People. You're a good man Kevin.
