Join us at Dewsbury Socialist Club for an evening of urgent and unapologetic spoken word poetry. This event sees two of the UK's rising stars, as stated by The Guardian a few weeks ago, and presents a rare opportunity to see both acts on the same bill.

Hailing from Ossett, a sleepy ex-mill town up the hill, Matt Abbott Poet recently completed a 22-date UK theatre tour with his debut one-man show 'Two Little Ducks'. The show received rave reviews both on the tour and during a full run at Edinburgh Fringe in 2017. It resulted in his debut collection of the same name on VERVE poetry press and was accompanied by a digital studio album on Nymphs & Thugs.

Hailing from Knottingley, a deprived ex-mining town in West Yorkshire, Toria Garbutt is has been touring the UK with Dr John Cooper Clarke since April 2017. She released her debut album 'Hot Plastic Moon' on spoken word record label Nymphs & Thugs in 2016, and her debut collection 'The Universe and Me' on Hull-based indie Wrecking Ball Press in 2018.
