Dj'S Diner/Cafe

Pontefract based café owned by French patissier, Richard Deguil. Try our own blend of coffee and homemade specialities. Established in 2007.

There's one place where locals in the know go at lunchtime in Pontefract - Maud's Yard - the narrow alleyway off the southern side of the Market Place near the Butter Cross. Maud's Cafe and Cromwell's Restaurant are both popular institutions, but the best coffee in town is to be had at DJs near the bottom of the yard.

As well as great coffee made from his own selection of arabica beans, French proprietor Richard offers a fine selection of sandwiches, gourmet quiches, soups, fine cakes, scones, ice creams, milk shakes and speciality teas. DJs is open in the daytime only, up to about 5pm, when Richard goes home to bake more cakes and quiches!

The mix of records on DJs juke box is as eclectic as the mix of customers of all generations who select them. There are also tables outside when the weather is good. With friendly and helpful staff, reasonable prices and tasty food, DJs is a great little place and a personal favourite.
