Reviews
We're delighted to welcome the acclaimed South African harmonica and piano player Adam Glasser to the Cowshed. With him an exuberant band of leading young British musicians to play his trademark township jazz. Adam has played with South African legends Hugh Masekela & Dudu Pukwana as well as Joe Zawinul, Martha Reeves, Sting and the Eurythmics. This gig draws on his new album 'SA & Beyond’ exploring rarely heard township jazz standards across a range of great South African ...composers from Abdullah Ibrahim to Caiphus Semenya, Victor Ndlazilwana and Themba Mkhize.
Get ready for the infectious groove as Adam's band includes Cowshed favourites - the euphoric Corrie Dick (Dinosaur) on drums and the astonishing guitar playing of Rob Luft. George Crowley on sax and Steve Watts, bass, complete an impressive line up.
“…a unique evening of township jazz and beyond. A joyous affair and resounding success.”…Blues & Soul Magazine
“A composer, keyboardist and harmonica player, Glasser is intense – his tunes are joyful, driving and danceable.”…Jazz Times Review

Moricosta's Christmas Concert by Candlelight Sunday 10th December, 5pm Really looking forward to our Christmas concert with Moricosta String Trio next Sunday. Jess, Steve and Lucy have been making the Cowshed feel very festive today, rehearsing the pieces under the fairy lights and wintry moon. For starters, Sibelius will take us to the icy landscapes of Scandinavia, followed by Boccherini's light hearted prelude to our interval mince pies and punch. The meditative simplicity of Bach' Goldberg variations for our main course will really get you in the Christmas mood.
Stocking fillers? Edibles' farm 'grown and made' chutneys, jams, cordials and willow Christmas trees will be available on our very local produce stall.

Join us for a beautiful evening of folk, midsummer skies and cob oven pizza. We are delighted to welcome Kate Young and Raphaël Decoster, telling stories and creating landscapes through a dialogue between French accordion, Scottish fiddle and the intimate spontaneity of Kate's voice. Kate and Raphael's shared interest in both visual arts and traditional music allow them to create melodies and songs that are fresh and poetic.
Kate is also known for her work with Songs of Separ...ation (winner, BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2017 - 'Album of the Year'), Eliza Carthy and her own band, Kate in the Kettle.
Raphaël is from Lille in the North of France and plays with French Bal-folk band, Zlabya and duo Peut-être Jeanne.
The duo will release their first album, les objets trouvés in June accompanying their UK tour. Come and have yours signed in the Cowshed.
Special guest Dave Vaughan, will whet our appetites with solo traditional tunes.
Bring your own drinks and instruments for a session later. Pizza from 7pm; Dave 7.15pm; Kate & Raphael 8pm.
