I have rented for a long time from Europcar Leeds. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I have found on most occasion the vehicles have been in tiptop condition.

I made a reservation for a van hire for one day's rental as I was moving my Daughter into her new house.



I arrived at 08.00am on Saturday morning and the van was there waiting for me.



The staff checked the vehicle out very smoothly and then walked round the vehicle with me and explained that it was diesel and how to open the fuel cap.



On return of the vehicle it went very smoothly



All and All the van was excellent and the staff where very professional and helpful..



I will use Europcar againand advise my friends and family.

This company has draconian and discriminative policies and procedures - it took over an hour to coordinate a pre-paid booking - and even then they wouldn't accept a Federal Government (Aus) Passport, credit card and drivers licence as being sufficient evidence of Identity - they wanted a copy of a return flight to Australia (didn't have one as I am on an extended holiday) and they also wanted me to provide a Utility Bill - with proof of address (like everyone carries these around in a digital age & whilst on holiday ) - To add insult to injury I was told by the staff that had I gone to the airport to hire the car I wouldn't have needed all of the requested documents - just my credit card and drivers licence !!!!!!

To say I was disgusted by the lack of service is an understatement - I headed down the road to Avis - where I was processed in under 10 minutes and only needed to provide my drivers licence and credit card - Someone needs to take on board this archaic organisation and put the S back into Service.

Terrible service.

When I collected my car, the fuel showed 3/4 full. I alerted the agent and he came out and looked at it. He said that he had been told it was filled but there was "probably something wrong with the fuel guage". On a brand new Peugeot, I'd be surprised! Anyhow, he told me to just leave it back 3/4 full and all would be fine. I asked if I needed to sign something (as my original document stated the car was full). He said that he'd make a note of it.



When I left the car back, it was half full as my child was ill and I didn't get a chance to stop for fuel. I fully accept that I would have to pay for the 1/4 tank and checked with the agent (different guy) when I left the car back that I wouldn't be charged for 1/2 a tank. He assured me that he'd check with the other agent.



Long story short, I got charged for 1/2 a tank. When I brought this up with Customer Service, basically, all the agents in Leeds have denied that I ever had a conversation with them. The have called me a liar and I have absolutely no recourse. I would worry about the honesty of the agent I originally dealt with when he can so easily lie.

I literally tried probably every single known car rental company but what I experienced with Europcar during my holiday.

When I received car they nearly didn't mark any scratch so I needed to tell them what to mark and they repeatedly responded as they got another customer waiting that they are aware of all scratches on the car and it does not need to be in invoice at all as it is only a document for the office. So finally when I received a vehicle where I had to pressure them to do their job properly i could go and take my car from the airport.

When I returned vehicle back, suddenly they got all free time of the world and inspected car so properly and they discovered small scratch which I was not aware why it was not marked in the paper and charged me whole $1000 / £733 without any explanation. One of guys told me, do not worry only very small fee will be charged from your account, just sign this here ok? Minutes ago, £733 was being hold from my account so i returned back why whole amount has been taken from my account and he said ''read our policy and do not bother me as I m waiting for another customer''... so really? seriously?

Sent already two mails and never got respond from you!!!! Can't even get proper explanation from you! Never ever. Go Enterprise, or some one else, but never ever Europ

Appalling service. We complained after being charged for damages which were clearly not our fault then waited more than 10 days for a response. After 2 month, still no action and they automatically charged us £400. Do not used these guys - terrible! (LEEDS Bradford airport centre)
