About FoBP

Formation
Over the years there have been many changes to the Park, resulting in it falling into disrepair and suffering from neglect. The castle was demolished in 1964, the paddling pool was filled in and grassed over in 1988, and when the Pavilion was demolished in 1998 a group of local residents formed the Friends of Beaumont Park to act as a pressure group working with Kirklees Council with a view to restoring the Park. Following members approval given at our AGM in December 2008 we applied to become a Company Limited by Guarantee and with effect from 1 April 2009 we became a Limited Company and on 23 April 2009 we became a Registered Charity.

Our Charitable objects: "For the benefit of the inhabitants of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and the surrounding district: to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions in particular but not exclusively by the preservation, promotion, support, assistance and improvement of Beaumont Park"

The playground inspector found a fault on the tyre swing headstock and had to remove it. We have asked Santa for a new one today, but as it has to come from Finland we don't know if it is possible to get it by Christmas. Fingers crossed 🀞. John.

What a mixed bag of weather November has thrown up thus far, from beautiful sunrises to dank, dismal days. Great views from the Park, though, and here is a selection from the last couple of weeks. John.

User

We visited this park for this first time and wow!! Me, my fiancΓ© and daughter loved it, the views were amazing and we didn't realise how big this park was!! The flowers were beautiful!! Fabulous work !!!

User

We live only about 200 yards from the park and sadly take it a bit for granted. The friends of Beaumont Park have done a wonderful job and it is so beautifully maintained, it would be hard to find a better maintained park anywhere in the country, something that Huddersfield should be rightly proud of !

User

The friends of Beuumont Park have worked tirelessly to improve the park for everyone and are excellent hosts. It's a great place for kids to explore, especially down by the old railway gates. One of Huddersfield's hidden gems.

User

The best park I have ever visited and walked around. Truly stunning! It was great to read the information posts on the way round. We will come back here again in the future. Highly recommend!

User

User

I've been visiting Beaumont Park ever since I can remember - for more than 50 years! When I was little my mum would take me and my friends to the paddling pool in the summer. And the railings where I got my knee stuck when I was 13 and had to be rescued by the fire brigade are still bent from the hydraulic jack they used! My mum had a fright when I was brought home in a police car!

User

I wish we lived closer as I'd be in this park everyday. We travelled from Keighley to pay a visit and we were taken back by how stunning this place is. The flowers, trees, landscaping and original Victorian feature are all awesome. I don my hat to the volunteers who tend to this park, you all do a great job. Rest assured, we'll be back to visit again very soon.

User

Had an amazing day, exploring the park, sampling the excellent cakes and drinks from the volunteers and listening to the wonderful Take 2 swing band. Can't wait for our next visit.

User

Came for the second time today! Just simply beautiful! Kids loved It!

User

Best park in Huddersfield. Fantastic walks through woodland. If you want to explore wear decent footwear, it can be muddy in the more out of the way places

User

Beautiful place for families with children of all ages. Very unexpected scenery and history. The only thing that was a little strange was the poems on plaques. Very morbid. Other than that amazing place and we will be going again soon.

User

Beaumont park is my family's favourite place . We visit daily with our 2 dog's , rainy day's , sunny day's and the occasional snowy one doesn't stop the delight and wonderment . Every corner is magical , from reading the poems to singing in the bandstand , every visit we find something new to do . The event this weekend was a real treat fun for all the family , young and old . Recently part's of the park have had new tarmac laid , this as made it so much easier to push my daughter around , the cobbles were fun for my little one on the way down but back up wasn't pleasant sometimes . So thank-you to all who make our daily visits a pleasure . See you tomorrow xxx

User

As the Park's senior gardener I can announce that we have retained our Green Flag for 2016/17 and remain in the highest category of parks nationwide. The judges said that "[the Park] was immaculately clean", beds and borders were "excellent", and really liked the new picnic benches at the playground. It just shows that Beaumont Park continues to improve.

User

Absolutely lovely place, well maintained, looked after by volunteers, beautiful surroundings, nice woods, quite large too, lots of events throughout the year for all the family, great for walks and picnics, my favorite park

User

A wonderful and interesting place to walk. Beautifully laid out. A wonderful place to walk dogs. I love to sit at the viewing point which has a wonderful view of the countryside and of Lockwood Viaduct which is a spectacular piece of architecture.

I love coming here, it's so peaceful.

Really worth a visit.

User

A fantastic afternoon at Beaumont park yesterday for my sons birthday party, not sure if many people know you can hire the visitor's centre on a Saturday! The children had an amazing time collecting conkers, running races and scavenging! Thank you to the volunteers who run the centre for keeping so lovely.

User

love this park. lots of caves and hidey holes for the kids if you wander down the woods. also an old railway line, castle walls and a lake. brilliant. only downer for me is all the steps as I have arthiritis but I still do use them. . oh and the public toilets aren't always open so if the visitor centre is closed you might get caught short.
