About Friends Of Ham

British Jamon Bar with a large beer list and a small but perfectly formed wine list.

Friends Of Ham Description

Leeds’ award-winning Charcuterie & Bar Friends of Ham mixes four of the greatest pleasures in life: meat, cheese, beer and wine. You will always receive a warm welcome, whether you choose to sit in the tiny upstairs bar lazing an afternoon away over a drink watching the ham carvers at work or catching up with friends on the sofas in the cosy candle-lit basement.

Friends of Ham promotes quality and sources everything it sells carefully from British micro-brewery beers to one-off brews, from local charcuterie to some of the finest meats Italy produces, from big name world class wines to Eastern European wonders, sherries to shatter your perceptions of the ‘Granny’ drink along with a plethora of incredibly mouthwatering cheeses from France, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland and the UK.

Create bespoke jewellery. Do so over wine and charcuterie. Any good or what!
Tuesday 24 July 7 - 10pm £65 (for this you get an evening out, food, and a piece of jewellery to wear)
... Who or What is CAST?
CAST is a jewellery making experience. We provide guests with an unparalleled opportunity to both design and create bespoke jewellery pieces, at public and private CAST events. Bespoke pieces; rings, earrings, pendants, broaches and cufflinks, are first crafted (by you) at an event, and cast by us at our Sheffield workshop in Gold, Silver and Platinum. We finish each piece by hand, and return to spec, within 2 weeks!
To complement, we combine the making process with an exciting space and equally exciting menu. Why? Because we wanted, when we launched the company, to re-imagine the workshop environment. Wax carving and jewellery design, take place in workshops and studios in pockets all over the world. That said, that process, the theatre, is wasted in a dusty old workshop. This process can now be enjoyed in some of the world’s most iconic and exciting spaces!

Our new monthly wine tasting

User

We have been showcasing a lot of new minimal intervention wines on our Specials list over the last couple of weeks - and boy have they gone down so well we've struggled to keep the lists updated at times.
So we thought we'd start back up our monthly Ham Wines club to give us the opportunity to provide you with a laid back evening to enjoy some of the more eclectic wines we've been getting in with a little bit of banter from our resident wine lover Josh.
Tickets are £20 and include a lot of wine to keep you going through the evening.

We are currently looking for talented interested individuals to join our Kitchen Team at Leeds.
This isn't your average kitchen job and you don't need to know technical cooking techniques - what's most important if product and the care and attention you give it.
We spend a lot of time getting the best tasting ingredients on our menu - we only do two things and we think we do them pretty bloody well - Charcuterie and Cheese.
... They are carefully and lovingly produced then carefully stored by our suppliers. At Friends of Ham we have certain ways of storing and serving our produce meaning our charcuterie and cheese in the best possible way.
This isn't your average kitchen job and you don't need to know technical cooking terms - full and part time positions are available.
Passion and a willingness to learn are the most important traits we are looking for. You must be a hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, mature individual who will go the extra mile, happily chat to customers, take the initiative and will always find something for yourself to do.
Previous kitchen experience is a definite plus and a yearning to come up with new dish ideas and specials would be a real perk - we love getting the kitchen team involved in menu development.
Supervisor/Management levels do need experience and must have managed busy shifts, managed a team, and are up to scratch with recent food hygiene and allergy paperwork requirements.
You must be presentable and happy to be customer facing - this is an open kitchen where we expect you to serve the customers sat on our Ham Bar. The big benefit of this is you are in a kitchen with natural light that is in the thick of our service, not tucked away in a stuffy basement somewhere.
If you think our kitchen is for you please email your CV and a covering letter to jobs@friendsofham.com

What a great little pub! Lovely atmosphere. Didn’t eat there but the food coming out for other customers looked very nice. Nicely presented too.

User

User

The best real ale bar in Leeds! Staff have great knowledge of the products they sell and the food is gorgeous, will definately be back!

User

Samurai Chardonnay goes really well with the Italian meat platter. Always have good food and service when I go here.

User

Really enjoyed our first visit and will definitely return. After a busy day shopping we wanted somewhere chilled to eat and FOH was that and more. We didn’t book but got a comfy seat straight away and we’re looked after very well by the staff. Food and wine was great and the staff were really helpful with giving advice about what would go best with the food. Lovely evening spent- thank you!

User

My friend and I visited The Friends of Ham on 9/10/17. The cheese plate along with the Iberian ham and Bath Shapes were amazing. Add a couple of fine pints of ale for a memorable lunch experience. Great concept and service! We will be back!

User

My 'go to' place in Leeds !

As ever, sampled the delights of beer/wine and a mixed platter of meat and cheese ...

.... yum yum

User

Lovely place with a good selection of drinks! Service is also very good would highly recommend it 🍻👍

User

Lovely bar restaurant situated near the main railway station. Love the hanging hams! The food looks great but we were only in for the beer. Mary Ann is dead is a pretty special porter. Was this named after Mary Ann Cotton, Britain's first female serial killer, by any chance? I'd love to know!! Anyway great drink....loved the bar, we'll be back...

User

Love the chilled atmosphere, the quirky interior and its fab to have waiter/Ress service to your table ordering lovely plates of food, loving the British charcuterie; great that you’re supporting it

User

I visited 'Friends of Ham' in Leeds with my family, and i loved it. I ordered Eggs royale off the brunch menu and i absolutely loved it! It was delicious, and i would definitely visit this little pub again.

User

Had a great couple of unplanned hours here. Fab food/drink/atmosphere and very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

User

Good atmosphere, great Ale, fabulous food... and the best meats I have ever tasted in the UK this is another level. Staff are really knowledgeable about the good and understand it they know what to pair with what to bring out the best in the taste. Dan carved the Serrano and Iberico hams into wafer thin slices to get the best from the meat. All staff were so knowledgeable about the meats cheese and Ale they sold. It's a true gem and a foodie paradise... an oasis of taste in a world of bland chainstore food.

Marvellous fabulous and well worth a trip.

User

Fantastic staff, fantastic food and fantastic beer! This is an exceptional place to go and within 30 seconds from the station.

A very good and varied selection of ales and the meat and cheese selection is to die for!!

I fully recommend this place as a lot of love is poured into this and the passion of the staff to deliver great service and good quality food and drink makes me travel from m Birmingham to Leeds just to go here, that's how much I like it!

Trust me, you won't be disappointed 😀😀

User

Fabulous meats and cheese to die for with great breads..even the apple and kale sakad was delisch...oh and the beers! Good range of quality real ales. All this in a relaxed atmosphere with happy friendly staff.

We usually come here every Sunday and love it. Live music, great wine, great cheese board and amazing potato salad. On this occasion we came on a Tuesday and although it was still great but there were a few things I have to express. So we ordered what we usually have which is stated above. The potato salad came but not as it usually would but with just around 5 potatoes with a bit of dressing and very minimal salad, when we asked why it was different we got told by the young lady that served us that it had changed which is fair enough but why change something that was spectacular to something that was just average? Anyway the cheese board came with only 3 cheeses which is usually 5 not sure if this has changed also? The young lady that served us was actually quite rude when my friend was asking what else he could have as he didn’t like cheese, after a few suggestions which he didn’t fancy the sound of she said quite abruptly well tell me what you do like then but with quite a bit of attitude then walked away shaking her head then a different lady came over to suggest something straight after I know everyone has their bad days but throughout the whole experience on this occasion this young lady really let the side down on customer service. On the plus side the young lad with the baby face with a bit of a beard in the black t shirt came over and was very helpful with recommendations and was actually very charming and cute in the way he presented him self. We will continue to visit as this is our favourite place to chill out on a Sunday and each time spend £100+ but please please please get the old potato salad back it was amazing!!

User

Very disappointed with the service, 3 pieces of cheese at £13 for the cheese board, complained to the management who didn’t show, very rude will not be going again, ruined a very nice day out in Leeds

User

STAY WELL CLEAR!!!!

ABUSIVE STAFF!!

Not one for posting bad reviews publicly online but after my private massages have been ignored I want to warn everyone to stay clear.

After having a lovely night with family, I left in absolute disgust at the way a member of staff had spoke to me.

My mum nocked a glass over & on the way out she apologised twice to a lady with dark brown hair stood at the front desk who then didn’t even look up & acknowledge her & said under her breath “it’s ok” -which I replied please can you look at her when your speaking.

I found it incredibly rude that she couldn’t even be bother to look up at her & reply in a polite manner.

She clearly didn’t hear me but then felt the need to follow me out to the street where we were waiting for a taxi & began to be extremely confrontational, shout in the middle of the street & accused us of not paying!

Absolutely disgusting, I have never come across such an argumentative member of staff in my life.

I’m a very understanding person & know everyone is human & can have a bad day but that is beyond a joke!
