An offer from our Friend Linda Jenkinson at Start Birding.
I’m running a guided birdsong event at Meanwood Park on Tuesday 26th March. I’d Like to offer Friends a third off the usual price of £15 per person making it £10. booking essential as places are limited. email linda@startbirding.co.ukfor details or visit https://www.startbirding.co.uk/event/midd leton-leeds-2/…
We would just like to make the point out that this is NOT part of any cycle course / trail. This is one of the sunken shaft mounds that is part of the earlier mining sections in the park (pre-18C). The mining in this section is of a type called pillar and stall with the seam between 2-4 feet in depth. It's a key part of the history of the park and a key feature. It's NOT a cycle feature so please do NOT use it as such and please do NOT alter it to suit your needs.
We will continue to work with the Estates Officer and Wades to seek protection of the historic features in the Park.
Thanks
Hi everyone. Looking for your ideas and recommendations.
In summer we are again putting on our Children's Magic and Mayhem day...but unfortunately we haven't been able to book a children's magician yet, despite trying a few that we have details for. Does anyone have a recommendation they can make for someone we can contact to book for the afternoon?
We'd prefer it if someone could contact us by email on info@fomp.co.uk rather than a Facebook only recommendation. Any ideas anyone?
For anyone interested in Forest School up at the Leeds Urban Bike Park. Contact details on the post

Join a guided walk led by one of the Friends, through the park and woods. It's winter, it could be muddy under foot, so wear boots or walking shoes and warm clothing. See you there...
Snowdrops appearing all over the park, a sign of Spring perhaps?

Tomorrow in the Park
Tomorrow in the Park, for all those wanting to support a great charity and have a bit of fun at the same time.
What a beautiful park, I have to admit I had never visited before even though I am local. We can't wait to visit in summer when its not so chilly!
Very friendly guys at the park we enjoy the stuff they put on just wish it was more frequent so we could come more often!! Keep up the good work guys!
The last time I strolled through Middleton Woods was on May 5 1956. I was on leave after returning from service in Malaya. It was the last time that I was to see my teenage sweetheart. We sat at the end of the woods in a field which I always knew as Ward's Farm overlooking the railway and the slag heaps, remnants of the coal mining. It was also the saddest day of my life, as it was our final farewell.
The cafe is a great 'hub' for a day out with the kids.
I'm ashamed to say that I've not used the park for a long time but was very pleasantly surprised and I'll be back more often now.
If only you could arrange sunny weather all the time :-)
Sarah the cafe is back. 10.15 - 2.15 monday to friday at the new Visitor Centre. It may not be as it was before but it is at least there again!
Love Middleton park the woods are one of the best woodlands in south Leeds keeps kids entertained for hours
I love Middleton Park. I enjoy drinking tea & eating a buttered crumpet in the The visitor centre. Walking in the woods . It's an ace place to visit & a Credit to Middleton. Cx
I go to the park regularly with my children who could spend hours at the play area. The woods are beautiful and it boasts an interesting history.
Great park for take a break from crowded city centre. Been there with a friend who has a house nearby. I would say it is a good park for all family members.
Great park and well cared for, lovely cafe reasonable prices and loads for kids to do
Excellent day out Sunday, really enjoyed the shows and stalls.
I like to visit the park and take my kids and dog, when we can.
Enjoyed our fun family muddy walk in the woods today, then hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows in the cafe. Lovely.
Enjoyed a nice little walk today with Jim explaining all about the mining history of the park to a small but friendly group of people. The visitors centre has lots of information about the park and the various events held (and also serve delicious cakes too)
Carol Skerrett Tracey Skeldo Skelding Marco SF John Skerrett Alex Skelding. This was today at the cafe at the Leeds Urban Bike Park we met the lady who owns it with her husband really really nice food was good it was exceptionally friendly their are going to build an area outside only accessible from inside with decking potted plants and have a alcohol licence (Whoopeeee)))))) ...... Beautiful green space - feel so lucky to have this on my doorstep
Absolutely beautiful park. I've lived in Leeds for nearly 4 years and watch the park progress year on year. The shop is a lovely addition after a long walk, and now that the pond has been "sieved" it's relaxing to sit and chill there. It's a shame there are kids/young adults that like to rip through the park on their motorbikes/quad bikes and ruin people's hard work by damaging things. Driving over flower beds especially when volunteers will have spent hours planting those! Overall a lovely park a stones throw away from my house
A secret gem in the heart of South Leeds, made special by the beautiful ancient woodland and proactive team of volunteers keeping the events fresh and fun! A great example of what a city park should look like!
A great deal of work has been put into the park over the 8 years I have visited it with my children and childminded children. It is kept clean and tidy, there are lots of things to do and the activities that are put on throughout school holidays and on weekends are great, all of which are mainly free of charge!!! Well done to all involved.
Love the park peace and quiet we love the long loop around the park feels like you have done some exercise you dont have to go far to get some fresh air ,only downside especially in the summer is some people like riding around on motorbikes etc which can get annoying also there are few other things we think needs seeing to
