Benefits of collecting rainwater:🌧️☔💧
* Rainwater has no minerals or chemicals added to it so it is much ‘kinder’ to plants than tap water * Lowers the demands on mains water supplies... * If you are on a water meter, collecting rainwater can reduce your monthly bills during the peak summer season when gardens need water most * Reduces rainwater runoff flowing into our drains
Water Butts available in-store starting from £29.99

User

Visited this morning for breakfast with Santa, absolutely loved it! Extremely well organised, lovely calm but cheerful atmosphere, Santa made sure he personally spoke to every child, breakfast was fabulous and the children's gifts knocked socks off other "grotto's"! We will definitely be booking for next year! 10 out of 10 from me and 2 very happy little girls

User

Visited the cafe yesterday for a birthday treat for my other half. We went especially for a Manchester tart - my partners favourite dessert. Unfortunately when we arrived they did not have any 😣 An assistant said he would check in the back for us however there were still not available. The baker Shane came out to us and offered to make one for us. It was absolutely fabulous and made my partners birthday ☺ Thank you Shane for the birthday treat 😆

User

Love this garden centre! Got two massive pots for my bay trees today. Not the cheapest garden centre though. love the shop bit, always have great cards & nice gift ideas. Such a nice ambience in the food area, pricey but very nice. Friendly staff. All in all love it & nip there quite often with family.

User

Highly recommend the staff are very friendly and helpful always ready to help I take my mum most Tuesdays where we treat ourselves in the restaurant which is wonderful too

User

Afternoon tea with my girls today. Thank you in particular to Shane who allowed us to eat early with the birthday girl. Definitely value for money and the cakes! Well!!

User

Absolutely lovely place, especially at Christmas, so festive and pretty, I went here today with my mum and little boy (he will be 12 weeks on Sunday) we had a wander round and picked up some bits, we was going to go for something to eat but it was quite busy and we had a lot to do so we said we will have something next time..but best of all WE GOT TO SEE SANTA, I honestly can’t thank santa and his elf enough for today, they were both so lovely and just amazing people, santa held my baby boy so we could get some special photos of his first Christmas and we had a chat and didn’t feel rushed or uneasy, it was just so lovely, after loosing my little girl close to Christmas last year, my baby boy is my miracle baby, and santa and his elf made my little boys first Christmas that but extra special, so thank you so much! You made mine and my baby’s day!!! We hope to see you next yearxx

User

Spot on food with loads of flavours, we had the giant garden omlet, very tasty including the vanilla slice!

Only let down by not big enough cups for the cappachino.

Staff happy & friendly, can’t fault the service.

User

Yes it was busy so ordered cold sandwiches and small basket of chips. My son ordered a cooked pasty from the counter which only needed warming up.After 40 mins our food arrived. The pasty was burned beyond recognition which at that point we complained to the manager who gave my son another meal a cooked dinner and a round of coffees free of charge. We had roughly half an hour to explore the garden centre before it closed.Overpriced but very nice display of plants of which we bought some. Not sure if would go back perhaps not on a Sunday or unless they employ more staff to cope with demand.

User

Visited the Topiary Coffee Shop and restaurant today. Took a couple of nice platters for us adults which were tasty but felt a bit on the pricey side.

Ordered one hot meal from the kids menu and had to wait 30mins for it! We chased it after 25mins and do wonder how long the 2 year would have had to wait. It was only a hot dog and chips! The restaurant wasn’t even half full as we ordered before 11.30am. I’d hate to take a hungry child at actual lunch time, thank goodness I had a bread roll to spare for him.

Sarah was really polite and friendly when we asked her to check up and was really nice about checking in later.

User

Sadly a victim of its own success. Always heaving, mostly old folk. We arrived at the café mid-afternoon and there were no trays available. We ordered toasted teacakes and they were delivered to the table 6 minutes before my friend appeared with the coffee. They have 2 excellent coffee machines but no-one to work them :-( Had coffee several times here and it's always been very good. Yesterday the coffee didn't taste nice and was weak. Will give it a miss for a while in the hope they sort things out.

User

I visit regularly at least once a month with a friend. Yesterday I waited a long time to be served with two Lattes. There were two people together in front of me but their two drinks appeared to take ages to prepare as the lady that was making the coffees seemed to keep making the wrong ones! There were 3 people working behind the counter! The person that was 2 behind me in the queue was served before me as she seemed to know one of the servers!

I later returned for 2 more drinks and was the only person waiting to be served and again I had to wait because the one person serving had her back turned towards me wrapping food and chose to ignore me!

This is a pleasant venue but it's not cheap and I seriously think that customer care needs to be looked at!

User

The Garden centre was nice and modern though the plants were expensive compared to my local garden centre ( RHS Harlow Carr) I visited the cafe with my family, everything looked nice and clean ( apart from the carpet ) and the buns looked amazing, I ordered a chicken baguette with bacon , when it came the overall presentation was okay but it tasted awful, the chicken and bacon were dry, the baguette was too well done which left it too hard to chew , I was sharing it with my mum and between us we ate abit of the bread and left the rest, I tried to find a waiter but the only one available was dealing with a complaint on the table next to us and I wasn’t queuing in the massive queue again, I won’t be back and was very disappointed with my personal experience, the cream bun my dad had was very tasty and looked nice, my daughter enjoyed her pizza , so some good bits but the sandwich let it down emensly

User

Have visited the Topiary Restaurant twice now and haven't been impressed on either occasion.

The first visit was let down due to the cake, it was extremely dry and stale and cost £4.50!! And I ordered garlic mushroom bruschetta which took about half an hour to come out.

On the second visit we had the "luxury" afternoon tea for two at £25. We were given plain cheese, egg mayo and tuna sandwiches. For the price of the afternoon tea we expected a better selection of fillings. The scones were dry and had far too much cream.

To say you pay £30 for Betty's afternoon tea where you get 5 courses and a wider variety of sandwiches I think £25 is a rip off for what we received here, we left feeling very disappointed.

User

First time yesterday. An abundance of non plant items all very nice. But I was after plants! Yes there were some outside but not a great choice and most of them in full bloom which I didn't really want. Tools stupidly expensive. I would say more of an upmarket gift shop for middle class retired or semi retired people with a people pleaser bit for plants. Nice but really NOT a proper garden centre.

User

Wanted to buy a hammock stand which was on sale for £35. Only to be told that you can’t buy the stand without the hammock which was another £20. Even though both products are priced separately. I already have a hammock so did not need one. I asked why it wasn’t priced together if you can’t buy one without the other.

Have been to many Strikes garden centre and this was the not a great experience. Very dissatisfied with the customer service in there and will not be going again. I wouldn’t even recommend it to anyone either.

Every other Strikes garden centre we have visited the staff have been very helpful and accommodating.

User

It was very disappointing.

I had the vegetarian option, which was vegetable bake. Which was extremely ironic, as it consisted of two table spoons of a sparse ragu (a couple of bits of courgette & 3 slices of peppers) with bread crumbs on top. Plus a handful of salad.

My daughter had the roast beef Sunday lunch, which had more vegetables than the vegetarian options.

My mum had a ham salad sandwich, which she enjoyed very much.

User

I went to the restaurant for a cream tea with a 241 voucher. Firstly no plain scones, which is fine not all cream teas provide a plain option, but on the voucher advertisement it shows a plain scone. Secondly we waited 50 mins for our food, then had to ask someone where it was; they said it would be made straight away but they had run out of scones! Fair enough it was busy, but why not say this at the till?! The sandwich bread was dry, almost stale. We got offered extras because there were no scones, so we got more sandwiches: these sandwiches were fresh thick bread; if the initial sandwiches were made to order why were they not as fresh, it felt like the afternoon tea was prepared the day before. So, false advertising, waiting too long for food we had to remind them about, dry bread and no scones!

User

I have been a regularly here for years and regularly visit the restaurant until today I would have and have recommended it. Today I visited as I purchased an item yesterday that was clearly labelled £19.99 but I had been charged £39.99. The first cashier was very pleasant and was unsure what to do so called “Julie” over. The first thing she said to me was “we don’t have to give you that price”. No apology in fact there was no apology at all throughout my return. I found her quite rude and obnoxious. I decided to return the item and I will not be purchasing from here again. I have spent a lot of money here particularly since it reopened and would have done going forward however I will not be now. The right thing to do for the Customer would have been to honour the price clearly stuck on by strikes however this alone would not have stopped me returning. From her attitude Julie clearly doesn’t want any customers to return and for that reason I will not be.
