Eat.My.Ukulele's Stan Hill is in this ace band. They raised the money to go to Gambia & do good things (including make this video). If you ever get a chance to see Bud Sugar live we wholly recommend them. GREAT WORK, LADS! :) https://www.facebook.com/Budsugar/videos/ 2467054689979356/

One for the UK folks. We were asked to share this. It's a uke group in Sheffield on Wednesdays that is trying to spread the word. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/Sheffield UkeleleGroup

Had a great planning meeting for GNUF2019 this weekend. The whole team was there & some of our young volunteers & artists also took part. We can't wait to share our exciting plans for loads of new and some of your favourite familiar things for our festival. *watch this space* :D

Congratulations to David Megarrity (who some of you may remember as Tyrone from GNUF2017). A talented artist on many levels! :)

This is a great performance. Some of us remember seeing him at the last ever Uke Fest of GB and being blown away. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx6itEgzx BM

This summer just keeps getting better. Up in Newcastle (UK), the excellent Jack & Jel (from Australia) will be leading this. We've heard really great things about them from folks all over the world so thought we'd share. :) https://www.facebook.com/events/212258129 498295/?active_tab=about

Two folks from GNUF have been nominated in the Yorkshire Gig Guide's Grassroots Awards for 2018.
Isaac Hughes-Dennis (who's come to GNUF since he was in primary school and has played on Mim's stage, at Vinyl Tap and on the unplugthewood stage) is nominated for both Songwriting & Emerging Artist.
Our festival director, Mary Agnes Krell is also nominated ... (for Outstanding Individual / contribution) https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Y5V89WK< br> See More

Just a few places left on Sarah Maisel & Craig Chee's retreat. It promises to be truly excellent. If you're hoping to go, be quick! :)

User

You might remember Velma from her performance in a champagne glass as a tiny Russian gymnast. You may recall Jack Stark / Kiki Lovechild when he made it rain butterflies or his amazing turns on the cabaret stage. Well they're raising money to make a new piece and we think it's a great thing. If you've a few pennies, we recommend supporting their top-quality work. :)

User

The ace Claire (of Scarab Pictures) has shared her mainstage pics from the Festival. We love these and hope you do too! :)

"Transcendent!" - "Absolutely Beautiful!" - "Unlike anything I've seen!"
We continue to get immense positive feedback about Andy Eastwood's piece which debuted at our festival. We commissioned Andy to compose an original piece of music for GNUF 2018. He chose to write this piece for ukulele and strings and performed it live with The Didsbury String Quartet. We are justifiably proud of Andy's achievement. It was worth every bit of time, effort, money and blind faith. Andy Eastwood, let's get this recorded! ;)

The ukulele helped me get a handle on some dark personal times.... This festival is one of the few large events I can go to and actually feel good at. It is the most inclusive, supportive, diverse and friendly festivals I have ever known... I should know as for 6 years I have not missed one yet. This is a 6 star event... Just go! #GNUF18 #GNUF19

User

The best weekend of the whole year. I would give 10 stars if I could

I have the unfair privilege of being in the background a people watcher, we were catering in the Green room watching the busy little bees running around nearly to meltdown to make this event so special pouring their hearts out without comfort ,food ,taking time to stand back and breath, yet still allowing us the time to peek into their souls, these wonderful people create something so special it touches peoples hearts, allowing them grow, I think to be at GNUF makes you a better person I for one will always be there Love you all

User

I attended for the first time this year and I had an absolute blast! My friend and I are both blind and were accompanied by our guide dogs and sighted assistance to ensure we navigated the event and all it had to offer with ease and the least amount of stress possible. Right from when I contacted Mary to let her know I would be going and to ask questions about everything and anything, she and her team responded quickly and nothing was too much trouble. If you are blind and wish to attend a workshop, they make sure to get you the materials in advance and in an electronic format. Same with the program and any other materials. At the event itself, it was packed but no one exchanged a cross word. Volunteers and participants alike were both friendly and helpful without being overbearing or patronising. I will be back next year for sure. I only regret I left it this long to get involved with the Uke and its community. Great job all! You deserve all the awards and recognition you have amassed over this year and more.
