Greenbox Removals often comes across pieces of furniture that people don’t want from house clearances or house moves and we can usually find a nice new home for them. A friend of mine, Stell, who works for Renew in Leeds, has a client who has broken their leg and couldn’t get up the stairs in their house to get to bed. [ 75 more words. ]

Woke up at 5.45am on Friday to a white Leeds. A lovely blanket of snow covered the city and it was still coming down from the clouds above. But we can’t let a little snow impede us, can we? Well, we didn’t. Greenbox completed the first part of an office move for Milestone Insurance. They were collecting some office furniture from one office and putting it into Big Yellow Storage until it can be transported to their new office in Glasgow at the end of the month. The week before last was a particularly strange week for Greenbox Removals in the sense that we did 3 house moves in 7 days that had a spiral staircase in them. One of the house moves even involved us taking beds up through a window as they were too big to go up the stairs. We have done spiral staircases before but they are quite infrequent. Three in a week was very peculiar. We were left rather dizzy!

Greenbox completed a house move on behalf of Hannah last Wednesday but Hannah was down in London so her mum - Ruth - was there to show us what was required. We moved all her belongings into Big Yellow Storage for her and everything went swimmingly. It was great to meet Ruth and she was ever so kind to Tweet about how the removal went. [ 136 more words. ]

Completed a move into Big Yellow Storage for Nita last weekend. It was a lovely little move, she was in a ground floor flat and most of her belongings came straight through the window of the flat so we didn't have to negotiate many corners/mezzanines. This saved time which saved cost for Nita, especially since she was such a speedy help with loading. [ 50 more words. ]

Greenbox have had a little spate of house clearances recently, all in the Leeds area. We always endeavour to find a new home for the items and dropped a couple of sofas off at SLATE furniture and some beds to St Vincents. It really helps keep the costs down for the clients as house clearances can be very expensive in terms of the waste disposal charges, the prices of which just seems to keep going up and up. On Saturday we completed a housemove for Antonia from Monk Fryston to Wakefield. Because it was a 40 minute drive from our base I hadn't managed to visit Antonia to quote but she gave me a very specific list, via email, so the price was given on that. I'm not sure I've seen such an organised person in all my years of doing housemoves. [ 136 more words. ]

Greenbox don't mind working on Saturdays, it seems to be a good day to move for young people in rentals so we're only too happy to oblige. The man and van service is usually sufficient and helps the client keep their costs down. Last Saturday we moved Natalie from her city centre flat to another flat, just on the periphery of the city. On Thursday we moved the lovely Alice and James for the second time in 5 months. They weren’t moving far at all, only 0.25 miles, but it did take 3 van loads. They even said that they will be moving again shortly - once they have found a house that they want to purchase and had their second baby. Great for Greenbox but I can't imagine it being much fun for them. [ 41 more words. ]

Today Greenbox moved Gerry from Leeds to Birmingham. It was a 2.5 hour drive and we talked plenty about computer software/advertising/SEO and a whole manner of things that Gerry has knowledge of though his work. It was an illuminating journey and the time tripped along at a great rate. At the Leeds end Anna made us a nice coffee with some biscuits and we discussed the book she’s about to publish on the history of The Arts Council. [ 99 more words. ]

Carried out a smooth move to Sheffield on Monday for the lovely Jo and Sarah. They were really well organised – everything was dismantled and all the boxes labelled – which certainly helped. And it didn’t rain! This was an even bigger help. Jo and Sarah kept us fuelled up with teas and chocolates which helped us to keep our strength up as there was certainly a lot of stairs to contend with. [ 27 more words. ]

On Saturday, Greenbox did a small relocation from Big Yellow Storage, in Leeds, to London – the rather affluent area of Kensington. The move went well with most of the time taken negotiating the traffic of The Big Smoke. If only Greenbox had a helicopter for these kind of jobs, we would have zipped it!

On our first day back after the Christmas break, last Tuesday, we helped a client move all her salvaged belongings from her flooded house in Tadcaster. It truly is a terrible thing, seeing all those personal items ruined in the skips outside, such waste. What a dreadful impact these floods are having on people’s lives. We got all her possessions out from the upper-floors and into her new property within the day, though it was a very late finish – we didn’t get home till 10am. It certainly was a big first day of 2016.

Happy New Year! Well 2015 was certainly a very bust year for Greenbox Removals hence the lack of posts on our website here - it's difficult to write when your lifting wardrobes etc! But we're going to to try to find the time this year, it's our New Year's resolution. Towards the end of last year we had another new member of staff - Alex - join the team. [ 79 more words. ]

Greenbox has been incredibly busy as late, so much so that we've taken on some more staff. Oliver began working for us this week and he's a fine addition to the team. He has so far done a day on a contract we have with a housing organisation - lifting 20 sofas and 5 wardrobes into a complex with plenty of stairs, and a day doing a house clearance which also had some stairs and a stairlift which needed removing from them and disposing of them amongst a lot of other things. When I first spoke to James about his move from Big Yellow Storage to Harrogate we thought his move may take quite a long time, with two trips in two vans. I hadn’t seen his storage space(250 square ft) and how it was packed prior but when we turned up on the day – a lovely, though windy day - with two vans and two men the job wasn’t quite as large as we had assumed.
