2018! That's a wrap!
Unbelievable right? 33 weddings, twelve months, all down to one 1.40 slideshow and blog. My first year as a full time wedding photographer finished. This selection of photographs are my favourites from a year I just can’t quite get my head around. Every image here brings me back to a wonderful memory.
Looking back on all these moments of life’s emotions, I see how privileged I’ve been to have captured these photographs. Thank you to every person who’s we...lcomed me into their world so warmly, you make this extraordinary job the pleasure it is.
The video’s got a pretty bangin beat to it, but only has about half of the best of 2018 selection. So if you’re looking for the full experience, head over to my blog - https://goo.gl/fkHkr6 and please, please share this post if you enjoyed it!
See you in 2019

Rings in the Best Man’s hands never fails to look beautiful

It was my last wedding of the year, so I was out to catch the biggest and best shots I could to round off 2018 with a bang! Chris and Cara’s wedding was a day of nervously-exciting moments, impressive public speaking skills and huge surprises! From one stunning venue to the next, Saturday was the turn of Laura and Arun for their Carlton Towers wedding!
For me L+A’s wedding was just brilliant for mingling. I really do love my discreet fly on the wall shots, and there had no shortage of opportunity for it. Their guests were really enjoying themselves getting through the champagne, exploring all the fantastic rooms and just making the most of a fantastic day. It was really lovely to capture all the stories around their wedding!
These are only a few highlights, so go onto their blog and view the full story from Laura and Arun's beautiful wedding! (trust me it's totally worth it) https://hamishirvine.com/blog/carlton-tow ers-wedding/

Last Friday I joined Valerie and Mike for their Great Fosters Wedding in Egham as a Surrey wedding photographer. First of all, what a venue. My gosh, this place is epic epic epic! Awarded the AA’s 2019 Best Hotel in England, this Elizabethan Grade 1 Listed building built as Henry VIII’s hunting lodge, is one of a kind.
Highlight of the wedding for me (amongst so many highlights of course), had to be Dougie constantly following me around the entire day. He was trying to play ...peekaboo with me at the alter, as I was stealthily hiding behind a plant photographing. Even when I ran to the back of the church, he still followed me! And this was in front of the entire wedding, everyone was watching. Right through to the end of the day, he still just wanted to hang out. I’m just cracking up writing about it now haha!

Here’s Amy and James getting hitched on Saturday at Amy’s workplace, the tearooms at Weddings at East Riddlesden Hall. She loves it there so much! Now all the leaves have turned golden brown, and the crisp autumnal season is in full flow, I was extra keen to make use of every seasonal colour the venue had to offer.

Here's Failliq and Zeshan's wedding at Regency Hall Yorkshire from last Saturday!
I wanted to document their day moment by moment, picturing all the energy, colour and chaos. It was like I took a breath at 9am, then finally exhaled at 7pm! It was a complete buzz of energy from every angle. Densely crowded scenes of vibrant colours and patterns in between all the hundreds of faces made for images I’d never taken before.
I’ve never photographed such powerful emotion either. In ...Islam, the bride on her wedding day traditionally leaves her family home that night and moves to her new husband’s home. The Rukhsat is the Bride’s final goodbye before getting in the car. It was an intensely emotional farewell, and quite heart wrenching to observe. Both myself and second shooter Lily North Photography were completely moved by the acts of love we were capturing.

Come say hi! 11-4 Chosen Wedding Fair at Islington Assembly Hall

User

We're going to London baby! I'll be exhibiting in the big smoke for the first time ever at the Chosen Wedding Fair London in Islington this Sunday. But first, here's my exhibitor insight ahead of the fair. I've talked weddings, photography, and beer- all the important stuff, as usual. So give it a read if you want to find more about how and why I do what I do.

We first met Hamish at the East Riddlesden wedding fair back in October 2016, and we instantly loved his work and personality.

Myself and my husband felt so nervous for our pre wedding shoot, but Hamish made us feel really comfortable, it was made even better by how well we all got on. We were so happy with the photos and had an amazing day.

Now this brings us to our wedding day on the 6th April at East Riddlesden Hall. Hamish was with us right from the start, capturing great moments with my bridal party and even greater moments throughout the day and evening.

We cannot find a single fault with the photos that have been taken we absolutely love them! Our guests have commented how amazing the photos are and how lovely Hamish is as a person. All of our guests were made to feel comfortable and had a great day.

We will cherish these photos forever, and would highly recommend Hamish.

Myself and Dom have definitely said we feel like we have made a great friend and hope to stay in touch.

I know we have said it a lot now, but thank you so much from both of us for photographing our big day! x

We couldn't have asked for a better photographer to come and capture our moments .. he keeps the day fun and relaxed and from what I have seen so far our pictures look amazing thankyou hamish

User

We couldn't find a single fault in our experience of having Hamish as our photographer, though I wasn't an easy customer.

Even though I hate having my photograph taken, I thoroughly enjoyed the pre-wedding shoot and we both left completely satisfied in the knowledge that we wouldn't have to worry about him in the slightest from that point on. When he sent our pre-wedding photographs through, I enjoyed them so much I published a photo album to my Facebook account for the first time in my life!

On the day itself, Hamish was as reliable as he said he was, fit the fun vibe we were aiming for superbly and had the perfect balance of patience and authority with my difficult-to-control family for the group shots. He needed only fifteen minutes of my new husband and I together to capture some brilliant pictures and from that point on, I almost felt as though he wasn't even there (though judging by the pictures, he didn't miss a thing).

We had about 100 photos fully processed and online by 3pm the following day and the question on everyone's lips at our after party was how much we had splurged to have the best wedding pictures they had ever seen. It speaks volumes to his work that the lowest estimate was more than three times his actual fee. A gay publication even found our photographs on Hamish's Instagram and included us as one of the 5 most inspirational gay weddings that they had found and the Australian Marriage Equality campaign used our images on their Facebook page as Steven is Australian.

I couldn't recommend him enough. I think the best testament to his work is the fact that I hate photographs yet see his photography as the best money I spent on my wedding day!

There’s no doubt that Hamish is a real find. He was recommended to us by some of our close friends.

We felt lucky to have him as our photographer - he’s crazy talented, but most importantly he’s an absolutely lovely person to be around. And that’s really important when you’re getting ready for the biggest day of your life and someone is taking photos of you!

He was literally there from start to finish, and got so many beautiful shots of things from the day we might have missed ourselves. My husband and I absolutely love our photos. We got on so well with Hamish that we are definitely going to keep in touch.

Hamish is the cats pyjamas of wedding photographers!

Love Hamish's style. He is very affable and melts into the background when taking photos so he captures natural photos
