All a glow at closing time now the clocks have changed. Somehow this signals the start of the festive season and all though I don't like to start too early folks are definitely Christmas shopping in fact I've overheard some saying they've almost finished. Lovely morning again here in Hebden Bridge. Gradually stocking the shop with warmer hats and accessories. Rich tones of greens teals and browns on the central table at the moment. Plus many other colours around the shop. Don't forget if you'd like something made in a specific colour or tone let me know and I will look out for it next time I'm out fabric shopping.... I held my first Furoshiki course today. Which is the art of wrapping gifts with fabric. My first three ladies enjoyed learning how to wrap wine bottles and books etc as well as making bags out of tea towels. Lunch was delicious and we had lots of laughs. Course includes printed hand outs, a silk scarf and bag handles, hands on tuition and much more.... Next course in Nov £95 each 11am till 4pm here at the shop. Perfect just before Christmas.

This week I've been teaching my intern Danielle to make a flat bottom bag. Here it is in wool cloth check with brown suede handles and a silky cinnamon lining. We both love it and would like to keep it ourselves but it's going in the shop for someone else to fall in love with it and whisk it away. It's roomy and sturdy with a hard card bottom to keep everything upright. Plus a snap fastener to keep things safe.... All in all a fab bag !

I've been teaching my intern to make a ladies cap pattern. She's done a fab job on this easy wear everyday cap in navy blue corduroy. Trimmed with an aubergine fabric twist for a nice contrast. This cap can be folded in your bag and is great when it's cold windy or raining. Great on the school run or in the garden it's a pull on and go hat.... Hats are so much easier than an umbrella.
