Huge congratulations to Jade and Pete who married at Hazlewood yesterday! Another gorgeous day and a gorgeously glamorous rose gold theme in the Great Hall for their wedding breakfast. It’s definitely one of our favourite looks! A pretty flower wall and Krispy Kreme donut favours completed their theme. We hope they had a fabulous day and wish them a wonderful future together! ❤️

Our very own Vavasour wine which is produced by the Vavasour family who lived at Hazlewood Castle for 1000 Years. We are very proud to be able to offer this here at Hazlewood Castle.

We, myself and three friends, returned from a two day Spring break at the castle yesterday. We couldn’t fault anything as the castle itself was wonderful, the staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Andrew, the general manager, took us on a tour of the rooms and chapel. What he didn’t know about the history wasn’t worth knowing! The meals were appetising and tasty and the waiting staff polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Set in seventy seven acres, the grounds were peaceful and a pleasure to sit in, especially when the robins play nearby. Our rooms were comfortable and well furnished and had good bathrooms. All in all a pleasant stay!

User

We had a truly magical day thank you very much. Every member of staff we encountered - cleaners, receptionists and evening wedding co-ordinators were brilliant! Extremely professional and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We were very well looked after and made to feel like royalty. Can't recommend Hazlewood Castle highly enough. You are the best, thank you so much. Wish we could do it all again. Special shout out for Kelly our wedding co-ordinator, who made the whole process so stress free and pleasurable and Shanley, our Master of Ceremonies on the actual night who was awesome! Love you guys......a huge thank you. Jon & Di

Stayed one night on business in the local area, check in was prompt, although a wedding party was also checking in. Was told at reception that the restaurant was booked out at 8.00 for the wedding guests, but not a problem as I like to eat early, so booked a table for 6.30. I was in Fuchsia room, lovely view overlooking the patio area. The was a personalised welcome card which I thought was a really lovely touch. The food is a little on the pricey side but was excellent quality. Breakfast was slightly delayed as the buffet had not been fully set up, but did not delay me in anyway. In all a great hotel with lovely surroundings and history.

User

Just stayed here for a spring break offer and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodation was fantastic and the food was delicious as well as the very relaxing mud treatment we received. We would like to give a big thank you to Heather in the restaurant for being so warm and friendly, we really appreciated your outstanding service. Looking forward to returning soon!! xx

User

I would highly recommend Hazlewood Castle for weddings, I got married here a week ago and the staff were very organised and attentive. We had Melissa as our wedding planner and she was very personable and very happy to help, also has an eye for detail! Thank you Melissa :) Everyone commented on how stunning the venue was and everything ran smoothly! We had a pizza oven street food van outside and a couple of live bands and this was not a problem :) Many of our wedding guests booked rooms for the night and they enjoyed their stay, it was really nice to have breakfast together in the morning. Thank you again Hazlewood!

I received a Red Letter Day voucher from work for a castle hotel break for my husband and I and we chose the Hazelwood. I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't this.

We were at the castle for 16 hours and managed to take 546 photos of the castle and grounds. Literally 546. It is quite possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life. We stayed in the violet room. The room was great and looked over the 'courtyard'.

We went to the restaurant for dinner and whilst the choices were limited (and a little posh for our tastes), we eventually settled on steak which was divine. We were slightly disappointed when the bar was unmanned at 9.30pm but soon realised that we could get a drink from the restaurant and sit outside with it.

The staff were lovely, polite and helpful.

We got the feeling that we were out place, being the multicoloured haired, tattooed and pierced people that we are but not a single person made us feel as if we were any different from the more obviously belonging visitors.

Over all, the best night away I've had with the husband. Couldn't recommend it enough. Will absolutely be returning in the near future!

User

Had the most beautiful spa and afternoon tea today a treat from my lovely friend i loved the mud spa and the raindrop massage was the best I'd ever had the staff were all lovely and helpful and the afternoon tea with some chips was Devine!! all in all a beautful afternoon in beautiful surroundings i'll be back very soon!!

User

Had my wedding here last weekend (now sat on a beach in Thailand) and the whole day could not have gone any better. Everything ran smooth and on time from start to finish. The staff were great and very attentive. The meal was served piping hot and cleared away quickly. All our guests spoke highly of the venue throughout the day too. I couldn’t recommended Hazlewood Castle any more as a venue for anyone’s big day!

User

Had a spa day with afternoon tea . Everything was lovely and relaxing from start to finish . Had afternoon tea in the libuary . Nice and cosy with a log burner . Went to the spa and had the mud chamber . The whole spa experience was amazing and so relaxing . Would definatley recommend . Hope to return soon ❤️❤️❤️

User

1st time visiting here and loved it real friendly staff. Not a great choice on the evening menu but what we got was lovely. Our spa afternoon and afternoon tea was really nice.will definitely come back x

Only let down no pool .

We went to Hazelwood Castle on Wednesday night, to celebrate my husband's 70th Birthday. He was born in Hazelwood Castle, as it was a maternity Hospital during the war until 1953. My husband wanted to celebrate there for this reason.

Initially we had difficulty getting through to reception. But after emailing them, a wonderful member of staff, Heather, contacted me to apologise. She arranged to change her shift to accommodate us and make sure everything was perfect. It really was perfect. The place is stunningly beautiful and the staff couldn't do enough for us.

There are communication problems, when they sorts this, the venue it will be absolutely perfect...

We will be back, the food was excellent.

User

The spa side of our deal was very good, I was a bit apprehensive when I found out there was no pool or hot tub & some earlier reviews were off putting. However I have to say the massage & hot stone treatment was excellent. Unfortunately the food side let's them down & the very young staff need more training. They didn't bring milk for the tea/coffee, no butter or preserves to have with the toasted teacakes & croissants, not enough plates & serviettes for each person to have one. The teacakes had been toasted then frozen & reheated in microwave??? We weren't charged after complaining but it spoiled what would have been a lovely day.

Round of applause for the 2 young ladies in charge of the spa tho - brilliant!!!

User

Overall very satisfied with a warm welcome. Staff friendly, courteous and polite. Room was well presented and bed comfy. Slightly let down by the food service as wasn’t allowed to order from bar menu in restaurant despite being told by receptionist. When directed to one of 3 lounges to eat in I was some what forgotten about for 30 minutes after asking for desert menu after my main course. Excellent food made up for it but next time remember your guests!

User

We stayed on Saturday night. I was disappointed with the room for the price we paid. It was very small with hardly any room to manoeuvre between the bed and the bathroom door and wardrobe. My husband has mobility problems and had to access the building by a lift on the outside of the building which wasn't the easiest to find. I had to go back inside and find the receptionist as the directions she gave made it sound like it was in the building. On the up side the room was clean, breakfast was good. And my friends had a fantastic wedding day.

User

The experience was a little disappointing, we have been visiting at least twice a year on Afternoon tea, Dinner B&B deals, this time a few of the changes that have been made to the menu (reduced choices) and the quality of product has left use disappointed, we never got the afternoon tea.

The room we got allocated we had stopped in before, and it has had a refresh with new carpet and wallpaper, but bathroom was not changed? seems odd to refresh only part of the room?

We got asked to pay for the room on checkin ?! first time ever we’ve had to pay in full for the booking on checkin? and on checkout staff not knowing the details of the offers and attempted to charge for the evening meal that was included in our booking.

We truelily hope that these changes that have been made can be reverted, as we feel that these have been to the detriment of the overall experience, we will always love Hazlewood castle the place is beautiful, however the experience this time was not one that we have come to expect.

User

If you are looking at booking a wedding here I would seriously think carefully about your choice. I booked our weeding here 2 years ago and we are currently due to get married here in August. unfortunately throughout this period of time I have encountered significant difficulties with my guests being unable to book rooms for my wedding night. No one answers the phone on reception. No one from reception bothers to phone your guests back when they leave their details for them to do so. it has resulted in me emailing the wedding coordinators with my guests details so they can sort something. despite this I have a guest who has phoned every day for the last 5 days and still unable to book a room. I am paying this place a significant amount of money for my wedding and quite frankly am getting a second rate service in return. I have left a message on the wedding coordinators answer phone to give me an answer to why this is happening and have still not been contacted. I have raised this issue via email and in person with both coordinators and it has been swept under the carpet. needless to say they don't have such an issue taking your payment. it is not my job to be arranging hotel rooms for guests and a stress I could do without and quite frankly I'm embarrassed when my guests are coming back to me because they can't book a room. I am now anxious for my wedding day as so far I've encountered a second rate service.

User

Had a fantastic day at an event held by berry’s for the tennis classic on the 27 of June 18 ...which also was a memorable day being our 31st wedding anniversary so we decided to stay overnight, but this morning I felt rather angry we went downstairs at 9am the gentleman seated us in the corner of the room other guests arrived after us and was seated and served promptly 15 minutes later I thought it rather rude he’d served other guests and hadn’t even acknowledged after he’d told us we’re to sit so we decided to leave, told him the service was poor and said we’d waited over 15 minutes he practically accused us of lying and said we hadn’t by this time I was getting rather peed off I don’t lie no need to lie so said to him well let’s go and ask the other guests shall we he stepped in my way saying he’s not getting other people involved I was seething by this time anyway I had to walk away went to reception told her the story she was apologetic and said well yes you had passed me some time ago ( we had actually asked her the way to restaurant) so she knew what time we’d passed her so instead of the man saying sorry I’d missed you he’d Basically said we was lying which in a castle of supposedly high standards I find appalling would I go again?? Definitely not .....

User

Spa facilities are a joke, how can they call it a spa No pool, no Jaquzi, no thermal room, all the offer is beauty treatment.

We were very disappointed, I will say the massage I received was excellent.

We had afternoon tea, which was nice but vey sparse have had much better.

I know it’s an old building, but some areas could do with a good clean

Definitely won’t be back

They didn't bring milk for the tea/coffee, no butter or preserves to have with the toasted teacakes & croissants, not enough plates & serviettes for each person to have one. The teacakes had been toasted then frozen & reheated in microwave??? We weren't charged after complaining but it spoiled what would have been a lovely day.

Round of applause for the 2 young ladies in charge of the spa tho - brilliant!!!
