User

Nice to be in Boons Back Yard again. Happy memories of playing there with The Roosters every month for more years than I care to remember in the 1990s. Still one of the best gig spaces in Wakefield.

I had my engagement party here, it was such a wonderful evening. the manager helped us decorate the room the morning of the party and cooked the pizza's we wanted to serve, we also had a chicken curry with chips and rice which was warm and everyone enjoyed.

the staff where amazing and patient as it was busy, they also provide us with champagne glasses to toast my fiancé's speech!

I would highly recommend having a party here, you get high quality service the staff are so polite and helpful making sure we was happy.

User

Henry Boons as the atmosphere of an old English pub with some fab real ales a great place to watch sky sports and relax.

User

Great stop-off pub for us Wigan Athletic fans pre-Rotherham United away game 👍🏼 Top music and atmosphere - had a good craic with the Nottingham Forest fans too who were there the same time as us. Free food was just what was needed - bacon and sausage barms to die for and most appreciated. Thanks for a fantastic welcome! Hope to be back sometime. Till the next time, Henry Boons... a big 'thank you' again from us Wigan Athletic lot!!! 😃 "Up the tics!!!"

User

Great pub, some good real ales and cheap, friendly staff too

User

Cracking pint of Castle Eden thanks for staying open abs reopening the lines two other pubs near station shut as I walked in

User

I have been to all of the euro games at Henry Boons, it had great atmosphere. The pub was well decorated and each England game had a free Buffett plus a great selection of offers and ales.

All staff and manager were good fun and pleasant.

Get to boons for the final !!!

I only went with the guys from work. Not my kind of watering hole.

User

Great for watching football and rugby, with split system if both on at once. Reasonable real ales but not in the same league as the likes of Harrys Bar or Fernandes. But they don't have Sky / BT Sport.

User

Where do I start, from when we walked in, the manager was complaining about people not buying drinks and it was only 8pm, sarcastic comments to majority of guests and watching our every move whilst setting up the room like we couldn't be trusted. Arrogant, obnoxious treatment when we have paid for the room. The two female bar staff were brilliant though and even had to apologise for her manager's behaviour. Avoid this bar for booking due to sheer rudeness of the manager. Shame as it is a good little pub.

User

If I could give zero stars it would be more suited!! Dirty, Cold pub & manager needs to brush up on her customer service! Attitude stinks and the glasses smell like wet dog!!! AVOID!!!!

User

I normally do not put on bad reviews but I feel the night we have had warrants it I cannot speak highly enough about the general bar staff as they are polite hard-working and good at there job I can how ever pick fault with the lady who run/own the bar she is rude to say the least this is the 2nd party I have organised at this venue my daughter's 18th in Feb was bad but we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt.

In Feb the room hire was £20 Ok not a bad price but the pub is dirty tables where sticky and the windows look like they haven't been cleaned in years but what do you want for 20 quid however the price has now doubled to £40 It's is still dirty but what topped it off for me was how the landlady spoke to customers and the dj RUDE this lady dosnt deserve to run a pub as she clearly has no people skills!!

I will not ever step foot in the place again let alone book a party

I have hired rooms here before and never really had a problem it’s not the best place ever but the staff are nice and it’s cheep so you kid ofhet what you pay for. However I once went uni was 39 weeks pregnant (3 days before my due day) I just asked to use the toilet anyone who had had s baby will know when you need the toilet you have to go then. Am guessing it was the landlady she had mucky blonde hair to her shoulders. She looked at me as if I was something she had stood on and said we are not a public toilet I went on to say I wouldn’t ask if u was desperate she repeated herself that they were not a public toilet and said maybe I should get on at Wakefield council to put toilets in. She tgen said a load of other stuff before saying this once you can use them. I started walking the wrong way she shouted at me and said that way (pointing the other way) I was that upset an hormonal I cried in the toilets! I will never go in there again!

User

I had booked the room out at the back for my birthday and the staff were reallly nice apart from the owner/manager who was absolutely rude. Constantly complaining about people not buying drinks and her not making enough money. Not even worth the one star that I have rated it

User

Henry Boons was the starting point of a night out with my wife. First night out in months. 1 pint of Carling and 1 pint of Perroni. £8.95 ?!?!?!? The rest of the night. Average price for the rest of the night from pub to pub for the same 2 drinks was anything between £6.80 and £7.50. Glad we only stopped in Boons for the one drink. Won't be visiting again too soon. £8.95 for 2 pints is why pubs are getting boarded up. Very disappointed

User

Decent pool table and beer , just too over priced for the pub , come on £3.10 for a pint of John Smiths is outrageous, weatherspoons £1.85 , Strafford £1.80 other local pubs are around the £2.50 mark

If the place was top dollar I wouldn't mind paying it
