We love chairs! We love to breathe life into tired old chairs with beautiful fabrics and reinvigourated woodwork.
Homestead Upholstery is a small but developing upholstery business based in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. It was set up in 2014 by Karen Knowles who is passionate about chairs. We specialise in taking unloved vintage and retro chairs and giving them a new life by bringing them right back up to date without losing their original charm.
We strip them back to the frame removing old fabric and any tired fillings. We give the woodwork some TLC with lovely rich wax then build them back up again using high quality materials.
Finally (and most importantly), we add gorgeous fabrics to create beautiful one off chairs. Have a look at our gallery to see some of the work we have done.

Today has been about frame making - overseen by the master (my Dad!) I‚Äôm not sure he approved of my choice of footwear though but I love my pewter ankle boots! ūüėä

I just LOVE this gorgeous Homestead footstool finished in Corncrake Harris Tweed from Adabrock Weaving Company and it has such a lovely story behind it! For every meter sold ¬£5 goes to support the RSPB! Check out their page for the full story. Some days I make footstools and I don‚Äôt want to let them go! I absolutely LOVE this vibrant colour combination of Harris Tweeds chosen by my lovely customer. Is it normal to get so excited about fabric?! This fabulous package arrived today from Adabrock Weaving Company and I just love the tweed. I got some samples too so I will most definitely be ordering more! It‚Äôs still wonderful Harris Tweed but with a fabulous contemporary Scandinavian style! ūüėć
