just wanted to say a massive thanks to the staff for there quick action after my son suffered a siezure in the pool, staff dived in just as my son was about to go under water and my oldest son couldnt hold him up,i always worry when he goes swimming but im very greatfull for today

User

Visited today with my friend and our 4 year olds and it was brilliant. The pool was almost empty and there was so much for them to do. Staff were really friendly and joined in with the play as well as being really observant. The pool is pretty shallow throughout so the boys could reach the bottom most of the time and it was excellent value for money. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone with kids.

User

Our first visit this morning with a 7 year old and a 1 year old. What a brilliant place! Love the session timings, love the changing village, love the number of staff who were always watching, friendly and polite. Definitely worth the journey (40 mins) and the price. We will be back soon!

User

It's a wonderful place to go I enjoyed it so much would recommend all mum's,dad's n kids go xxx

User

Brilliant place it's all clean the pool is area is good and the staff are really nice and friendly, don't use the cafe area just yet. (but just wish a few of the faster swimmers wouldn't swim in the slow lane and go into the other lane's instead but that's just my thing)

User

I regularly bring my toddler to the Splash and Play sessions in term time and she loves it. Whenever I’ve been, the changing rooms have always been clean and tidy. There is one lady who regularly works on reception who could do with some customer care training but overall we enjoy our visits and the lifeguards are generally pleasant and do a great job. I don’t usually book so I have had to wait 15 minutes on a couple of occasions but the website clearly states to book in advance to avoid disappointment so that’s my choice. I’m looking forward to taking her to the soft play area if I can ever find it!!

User

I have read lots of the reviews below which are very mixed. I have used the facilites quite a few times since the centre opended and had used the old centre until the week beofre it closed and when you look at what we had before you cannot compare it to the amazing centre we have now. People coming from out of the area possibly hadn't used our old centre so cannot see how lucky we are to now have this lovely faclilty on our doorstep. Ok, so I haven't always been greeted with a friendly smile but cannot complain about any of the experiences I have had. My son, 11 loves the splash pool and we come every school holiday for a session. We come to trampolining and have done Gymnastics here its great! We have used the climbing wall and we have had a kids party here and have had good experiences. Also love the family changing area which a lot of Swimming pools don't provide.

User

too busy ,members are rude and throughing weights every where , toilets are dirty , disabled toilet is used by young couples for sex , i complained to staff she just ignored it and replied ,oh they r just fulfilling their physical needs , how hilarious is that is that a brothel now ? you shouldnt be giving keys to people who are using the disbaled toilet for sex , is that difficult to understand ?

User

Taken my little girl to the mini splash session twice now which she loves. Today we decided to have lunch in the cafe too, big mistake!

We went at 1pm and every table had dirty plates on and the tray holder was full. I went to order some food and decided to get a kids box meal for her, no fruit shoots which were included in the price and no alternative so bought a smoothie and had to pay 90p more so it cost almost £6 for half a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a small tub of ice cream and a drink as there was also no fruit left. It ended up costing me £15 for mine and my 3 year old’s lunch!! It would have been cheaper and better going anywhere else.

My friend also tried to order a baked potato to be told they’d run out at 1pm!! We also asked if we could have some sauces when our food was brought out to be told we need to go back up to the counter and ask.

Prior to our visit we looked at the menu online and thought it looked reasonable! Your online menu needs reviewing as it’s misleading. Deffo won’t be eating there again.

I have used the leisure centre for some time now and I used the old sports centre too for many years!.... And although the new leisure centre is very nice! And I mainly go in the gym to get on with my work out regularly, I have to say the staff are the main problem with the place a lot of them could do with some training on people skills! And it wouldn't hurt to crack a smile once on a while some of the trainers who work in the gym can be really ignorant and rude not a friendly atmosphere for a gym which is not a good thing there is the odd one who is nice or helpfull! But you just get used to it, I already know some people who go in there to work out so at least you can have a laugh at times thank God I've been in a few gyms over the years but none have been as unfriendly as this place! Plus the desk staff don't seem to know about anything whenever asked very poor really but over all review nice place shame about the staff! But I'm a fitness fanatic so just get on with my workout

Came here Sunday kids loved it was fun for them but I got out the pool 15 minutes early leaving my partner with the 3 kids (in the baby pool witch is small and my older 2 are 6&7 so not toddlers) so I could get ready first so when they all got out I could dress the baby and help the kids get there stuff. When I came back to the pool side a lifeguard with a bad attuided told me I couldn't leave my kids unattended when I pointed my partner out and told him they wasn't he then went on to tell me it had to be 1 adult to 2 children witch if this was true I'd fully understand but he didn't need to be so rude about it. But on the ticket site you can buy a family pass witch says for 2 adults 2 children or 1 adult 3 children so why sell if it isn't allowed. Witch is it to be.

User

Booked in for pilates today at 11.15. Instructor didn't show up? We weren't advised of this ..one of the class members had to go and enquire. Really think communication could & should be better .

On a positive note a lovely lady called Anne Bradford stepped in & took us through a keep fit routine. It was fantastic & if I was reviewing her it would be 5 stars. It's a shame Anne doesn't have a class there ...I would definitely be signing up for it.

User

Visited here today to take our baby for his first swim. It advises on the website that it’s a great place to introduce your baby to the water and within the customer guidance it advise they are happy for you to take pictures. When we arrived and got him in the pool my husband and I tried to take photos just of our own child and got told off by the lifeguard staff, one of which was quite rude. We even got asked to show them the pictures we had taken and to delete them there and then! There was only our child in the picture and nothing else?!? If we had known this was going to be an issue we wouldn’t have gone to this pool as we can now no longer look back at the first time we took him swimming, they also need to change their customer guidance. Will not return.

User

This is first time I have been and the staff at reception wasn’t help full at all and wen we went into pool I asked the life guard to see if I Could put my son inhalers at side of pool and one life gaurd said I have to keep it with me at all times is not my responsibility to look after it also the pool was cold and then staff came to us asking us to get out even tho we had been in 5mins didn’t enjoy at all and kids didn’t like it I won’t b coming bk there again and they don’t consider medical conditions too

The mature movers classes are cramped as more than the maximum of 50 people are sneaking in. Class instructor is turning a blind eye to it and so are the staff. It is not pleasant bumping into people whilst exercising. I recently counted over several days 58, 63, 52 people in a room designed for 50 people. These extra people arent allowed to book on an already full class so they turn up once the class has already started and leave 10 minutes before the end knowing they wont be counted. Why not open up the empty room next door and let people book in if there are more than fifty wanting to go to the class? For insurance reasons they would have to pay another member of staff thats why, its all about the money. Its an accident waiting to happen and it has taken away the pleasure. Its stressful knowing you cant move freely in a class because there isnt room to move and we are are trying to find a bit of space that isnt there.

User

I booked today for myself, my daughter and my sister to visit your lesuire center as a treat for my four year old daughter. We booked for a 2:15pm slot and arrived early. At 2pm we entered the changing rooms to change our clothes and were immediately appalled by how filthy the facilities were. I appreciate how busy you were but the floors were caked in wet sticky grime and kids were running around in outdoor shoes making the floors even dirtier. There were old plasters strewn on the floor and clumps of hair every where. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in days.

After changing into our swimwear we then walked into the splash park area which was very crowded. There seemed to be far too many people inside as there was barely space to walk into the pool. However before we even had chance to try and find space, a stressed out lifeguard started shouting at everyone to get out of the pool. We wondered if there was a fire alarm (it was too noisy to hear anything). Everyone started getting out of the pool but no one knew where to go or what to do as there were no clear instructions from any of the staff. People were pushing and shoving and running around in a panic and it was absolute bedlam. We were then told to get into the changing rooms which everyone did. Staff members came through looking confused and when we asked what was going on we were just given blank looks. Eventually we managed to find a very surly lifeguard who stated a child had been injured and we needed to get out of the changing room as paramedics needed to come through. We asked where we should go as we had just paid for a session in the splash park and he said "that's up to you". we followed another family who moved into another pool and waited there whilst deciding what we should do.

We waited 45 minutes in the other pool which was absolutely freezing to the point my daughter started to cry, in the mean time trying to find out from staff what was happening and if the splash park would re-open. We could not get a straight answer. Eventually other peoples started exiting the pool and we asked one of them what was going on. They said a lifeguard had told them the splash park was now open again. There was no announcement. No member of staff informed us. We had to find out from another member of the public off our own backs.

When entering the splash park we were again disappointed to find far more people than we imagined would be safe for such a small area. Whilst other guests pushed and shoved and kicked you out of the way, staff seemed completely uninterested. People were running around on the slippery tiles which is obviously what caused the accident in the first instance, and no staff members were telling them to stop. People were throwing themselves down the slides before the previous rider had departed. All in all the safety procedures were not being upheld and my daughter ended up with a child kicking her because staff were not doing their jobs properly. There were two male members of staff who seemed far more interested in flicking their hair at female swimmers than ensuring the safety of the children in the pool.

On our way out there were kids running around unattended in the changing room, kicking peoples cubicle doors and swearing around young children whilst staff members walked past completely oblivious.

We have never been to Huddersfield Leisure center before and I found the whole experience so abysmal we will never attend again. We booked a 2:15pm session as we were travelling all the way from Leeds and because we were unable to get into the splash park until 3pm my daughter has now missed an evening with her dad who she only sees once a week and was terribly upset on the way home. The lack of organisation in safety procedures was shocking. I appreciate accidents happen, but not one member of your staff seemed to know what was going on or how to handle the situation. They were running around like headless chickens giving guests misinformation about what was happening and didn't know themselves how or what to do in such events.

I can only be grateful there was no fire drill as everyone would have burned and died if that's the way safety matters are handled at your facility. I am so angry I wasted money for such a terrible experience at your pool and money in travelling there too when I could have paid less and had a far safer experience at doncaster dome.

User

Huddersfield leisure centre use a central calling office for all their calls. After a certain time this office closes and you can no longer can contact the Leisure centre to ask simple questions like - just one example: is the Lane pool open (which sometimes it’s not). So in many cases I have wasted my time driving their to find out certain aspects of the leisure centre are closed. Just a possible solution, once the calling office closes, redirect the calls direct to the leisure centre. Thanks

BUY TICKETS BEFORE YOU ARRIVE!!!!

Travelled today for 1 hour with a 2 year old and a 6 year old to go to the splash park. To be told by a very rude receptionist that it was fully booked and we should of booked online!! Fully understand that you can pre book but can’t believe you can’t walk in to buy tickets!! Very upset little boys. The reason I didn’t buy online was the tickets are £15 plus for a family of 4 and if one of the children had been poorly on the day I’d of last the money. Which I just can’t afford to do. The receptionist didn’t even try to help and was so very rude making me feel very silly for not pre booking as it’s half term. In all, a very disappointing trip!!

User

And once again you turn up for a swim... no notification on site or internet or facebook... squads have the entire pool... mmm nk half a pool is for public... communication is at an all time low...

Our first visit this morning with a 7 year old and a 1 year old. What a brilliant place! Love the session timings, love the changing village, love the number of staff who were always watching, friendly and polite. Definitely worth the journey (40 mins) and the price. We will be back soon!

Brilliant place it's all clean the pool is area is good and the staff are really nice and friendly, don't use the cafe area just yet. (but just wish a few of the faster swimmers wouldn't swim in the slow lane and go into the other lane's instead but that's just my thing)

Also love the family changing area which a lot of Swimming pools don't provide.

too busy ,members are rude and throughing weights every where , toilets are dirty , disabled toilet is used by young couples for sex , i complained to staff she just ignored it and replied ,oh they r just fulfilling their physical needs , how hilarious is that is that a brothel now ? you shouldnt be giving keys to people who are using the disbaled toilet for sex , is that difficult to understand ?

And once again you turn up for a swim... no notification on site or internet or facebook... squads have the entire pool... mmm nk half a pool is for public... communication is at an all time low...
