The Mayor of Kirklees joined us for parkrun today! She had a great time cheering you on and chatting to you. A big thank you to the volunteers who joined us today from her charities, Kirkwood Hospice and the RSPCA, and of course to everyone who wore high vis on this windy morning! We had 37 first timers (welcome to the parkrun family!) and 46 fabulous PBs! We also had lots of milestones to celebrate! See you all next week for more parkrun fun! Ashleigh (RD)

Good morning you lovely lot! Our volunteer roster for Saturday has quite a few gaps, does anyone fancy adding to it? We need another timekeeper, barcode scanners, funnel managers and some more marshals! Don’t worry if you haven’t done it before, we’ll show you the ropes! 😊

User

So did anybody get into the London marathon for next year then?!

User

Thanks for this Stainland!

Well what a great parkrun that was! It might have rained but our spirits certainly weren’t dampened. A big thank you to the Tea & Tarts W.I who provided most of today’s volunteers. Thank you to today’s volunteers and well done to all whether you ran, walked or jogged. See you all next week. #loveparkrun

User

only my second park walk but onwards and upwards

the route is through Greenhead Park all on tarmac paths with some slight hills

the volunteers are wonderful shouting encouragement to keep you moving

will be back again next week

User

in my mind, the Huddersfield parkrun and the community that's been created round it has got to be one of the best in the world. If it can make a non-runner like me want to get up on a Saturday and run... then it can make anyone!

User

We visited from Heaton parkrun this morning (9/6/2018) as our course was cancelled. What a great reception we got from the run director and all the volunteers. We were particularly impressed with the volunteer doing the briefing by signing for the deaf. The course was great.....we thought from some of the reviews it was going to be very hilly.....but not at all. We all beat our home parkrun times. We will definitely be back xxxx

User

We visited Huddersfield as Heaton Park was cancelled. A lovely course and a great reception from everyone. We even got a mention at the briefing 😁 We will certainly come back again.

User

Visited Huddersfield parkrun today and it was fantastic! Great course, great atmosphere and great people! A bit tough for us flat landers from the east riding but Yorkshire spirit was there in spades! They don't call it Gods County for nothing!

User

Tourism today @ Huddersfield parkrun - well organised, amazing support all around the course and a nice downhill finish, will recommend to Chorlton Runners

This was my second time of attending this ParkRun, what with my usual ParkRun in Brighouse being cancelled at short notice due to a waterlogged course. I dashed straight off to Huddersfield after finding out and realised I was slightly late. However, I arrived just as the runners were in the process of starting and by chance, I managed to get a car-parking space. I got out quickly and the marshals were helpful in guiding me to the start. From there, I started my race because I wanted to do it correctly and it would have been unsporting of me to cheat. I did an unofficial time of 27 minutes, which had I not been late, would have been a ParkRun PB. I still managed to run an official decent time of 30 minutes 40 seconds, so in the end, I was three and a half minutes late. The marshals were helpful in telling me how far I had left because I was conscious about doing it correctly. Very accommodating and look forward to seeing you again soon x

User

This was my first park run in Huddersfiel, I live on the Isle of Wight but was born in Huddersfield and lived their for my first 22 years, did my nurse training at HRI.

I haven't been back for 49 years, what a trip down memory lane it was for me. My time was dreadful but I didn't care , I was so busy looking at the beautiful surroundings and trying to get my bearings.

That aside it was a great park run, well organised, friendly, very encouraging marshals and beautiful surroundings. Thank you. From Jeannie Denoon (nee Jean Dalton)

The Huddersfield 5k ParkRun is great way of improving your fitness and meeting new friends in the process. Its getting more and more popular, and running on the whole is a popular pastime, which as not always been the case.

It as to be good news for NHS on a health issue, that if more people can take up running or sport for that matter, as to be less of a burden to the NHS.

User

Thank you to the amazing volunteers. Managed to run the full 5k today which I've never been able to do. They encouraged me from start to finish. I don't think I could of done it without them. Thank you

User

Our home parkrun is Lancaster and its a very hard course as its "undulating". We came across to Yorkshire on Friday (our birth place) and ran the parkrun yesterday. I was expecting it to be FLAT as I remember playing in the park when I was younger and I am sure there weren't any hills in those days! Running up past the memorial actually felt very emotional (for both of us). Its funny as the emotional thing hit us both at the same place (not sure why). The run director was pretty awesome and the volunteers were good too. The organisation at the finish funnel was amazing. Thank you guys for making our 50th parkrun a run to remember.

User

My first run at Huddersfield Parkrun, and an enjoyable one too. Looking forward to seeing photos.

User

Just done my first park walk I say walk because that's what I did. All the runners 🏃🏿 gave me and my sister loads of encouragement as they lapped us. The Marshall's were wonderful shouting us on with a smile and a wave. We were the last ones in and got just as good a cheer as the first over the finish line. Great organisation well done all who volunteered and took part. 😊Totally knackered today see you next Week xx

User

First run at Huddersfield - usually at Heaton Park. Really liked the course but I did miss my kilometre markers! The welcome was great, the volunteers superb and got lots of encouragement from some noisy marshals :D Impressed with your funnel, might nick your ideas! Hope to be back and improve on my time. Thanks to all involved, you should be proud.

User

Fantastic volunteers and well organised. Loved my first park run.... thank you

User

Always well organisedwith a fantastic atmosphere. I'm constantly amazed by the numbers that show up whatever the weather.

The volunteers are great giving you loads of encouragement as you go round, Huddersfield Parkrun will always be by favourite one, even if visit others, it's here I did my first run & will always return to

User

Always nice coming back to my home town and doing a park run next to the College I studied back in the days. There were 757 runners yesterday of mix abilities and puts the fun into fun running. Scenery is fantastic - look forward to running here again in the future. Back now in London for my Brixton 19k this morning
